The Official Btown Banners Beer Thread!

Alright I'm in need of some help. I absolutely can't find a beer that I like. I've tried most of the major brands and it all tastes the same to me. The only one that tasted remotely decent was Redd's and that still wasn't great. Any ideas on a beer that someone who doesn't like beer might enjoy? I'm about to give up completely.

I'd suggest going to a brewpub/craft beer bar, with lots of beer on tap. Usually, the bartender is knowledgable about styles. If you tell them you're looking for a beer to like, they'll be able to narrow it down (with samples :)). Where are you located? I might be able to find a bar in the area.

I was the same exact way for a long time and the beer that clicked for me for some unknown reason was michelob. From there I broadened my horizons and now enjoy beers I thought tasted like piss.

Haven't tried Michelob yet. Might try that this weekend.

Go to The Tap at 3 PM any day of the week. It's empty and the bartenders will give you endless samples and explain everything. It's great.

I'm not a big beer drinker, I haven't found any I really like and haven't tried any craft beers, and I'll drink cheap mainstream beer over rum. I hate that stuff.

It's home for me haha.

The Tap is a great place to sample beers. Upland always has a great variety and none of their beers are too crazy. Dragonfly is a great IPA that's simple and delicious. Yogis has a great tap list, and Lennie's (right by campus Pizza X) has good BBC beers. Every Tuesday at 7, Yogis does beer school where they bring in a different brewery and give away free samples. This week's in Upland I think, you should check it out! Get there early though, it fills up fast.

What have you tried? Bell's Two Hearted is a good, simple beer. If you want a pilsner, try Three Floyd's Jinx Proof (IMO the best pilsner out there). Upland Wheat is great too if you're new to craft beer. All of these are super easy to find around Bloomington.

More of a whiskey guy, Jameson, Seagrams, dewers on the rocks or with a little 7 up. Ya I learned to drink in the Marines lol!

I usually drink whiskey straight, I seldom mix it.  And it has to be especially cheap/nasty for me to even consider using a chaser.

Thanks for the tips. I've pretty much just tried mainstream stuff, so I haven't even heard of most of the beers you just mentioned haha.

I know Dragonfly and Upland Wheat can be found in Southern Indiana too, I've seen them around.  The others I haven't seen, but I don't frequent liquor stores and the only ones close pretty much just carry mainstream **** water.

I was lucky that one of my old roommates was a huge beer nut, so he always had stuff to try. Nowadays, I try to try new things all the time when I go to the Tap or any good bar.
