We are flying out tomorrow morning and will be at the Alabama and DBU games! Flying home early Sunday morning, and will be in front of the TV ready to watch the AZ game.

All made possible by a wife that LOVES baseball.

Speaking of this, just so everyone knows, this weekend is a stream on D1 Baseball that is $30 for a month and includes access to whole site. If you have the D1 subscription right now for reading, you can add the stream for $15. There is no way to watch this weekend without at least spending some money.

Feel free to rant and not a huge fan of it, but just wanted to make sure everyone understands this. This is only time this stream is being utilized and is clearly being done to help D1 baseball putting some extra money in their coffers for reading subscriptions all season and introduce people to site.

Zach Horwitz - IU Media School

Preview: No. 16 Alabama vs No. 20 Indiana

Pitching: The Crimson Tide will throw RHP Ben Hess. The 6’5 junior missed most of the 2023 season due to injury, but returns as a sought-after prospect in the upcoming MLB draft. Hess is 2-0 on the season, pitching eight innings, sporting a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Indiana will send out RHP Brayden Risedorph for his third consecutive Friday night start. Risedorph pitched 3.1 innings in the win over Baylor last week but will look to go deeper in the ballgame against a solid Alabama club.

Hitting: Alabama has relied on their top half of the order to drive in runs so far this season. TJ McCants and Gage Miller have combined for 35 of the team’s 82 RBIs. McCants is tied for third in the country with six home runs. Both McCants and Miller own a batting average over .400. The Hoosiers should look to pounce on right-handed pitching with their lefty bats in Devin Taylor, Carter Mathison, and Nick Mitchell. Taylor, now hitting .500, and Mathison, who’s launched three long balls out of the leadoff spot, lead the Hoosiers in the top of the lineup. Nick Mitchell is back from injury, and he’s reached base in 6 of 10 plate appearances so far.

First pitch at 7:00 pm in Frisco.

I look at tonight the same way I did the loss to Stanford for women's basketball early in the season. It could be this team is not as good as we think or it is just a really bad night against an elite team. That was the best squad and pitcher IU will see until the postseason in all honesty.

The one concern I have is Risedorph the last two starts has been pretty bad. They are counting on him for big innings and he needs to be better. I would have overlooked tonight if last week had not been bad. Then again, Kraft was awful in his first outing and tonight gave two really good innings to settle things down for a while.

Purdue Fort Wayne concerns me far more than tonight. Even if IU is exactly who we thought they are, this beatdown was possible tonight. Only team all year you will see that is this good is Vandy and that is on a weekday where Indiana won't see their top arms.

Well that was much better today! IU with a thrilling 9-7 win over no. 25 Dallas Baptist. Like I said yesterday what we learned they are not as good as an elite SEC team but that is not surprising.

However, Purdue-Fort Wayne not withstanding, we are a borderline top-25 team that will be in a Regional somewhere and compete with most good teams and fight Iowa for Big Ten Championship.

RPI while contently moving, now in top-30 at moment with two high-end quad one wins over Dallas Baptist on a neutral site and Coastal on road. Probably need one more like this tom completely cancel Purdue-Fort Wayne out.

Much better news today.  Hoosiers hung a 9-7 loss on previously unbeaten Dallas Baptist.  Foley started and went 3.1 innings giving up 4 runs on 3 hits; walked 4; struck out 7.  Bothwell came on and finished the game saving our bullpen after last night.  He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits; 0 BB; 5 strikeouts.

Our bats came alive and we pounded out 15-hits.  Mitchell and Tibbits each 3; Taylor, Cerny & Bode each 2.  Tibbits 4-RBIs.

We trailed 6-1 after 5 innings but then we scored 2 in the 6th; 4 in the 7th; 2 in the 8th.

Pounded by Arizona today losing 12-1 in a 7-inning run shortened game.  Damage was done in the 4th when 'Zona scored 10 runs.  We went through 6 pitchers who gave up 10 hits, 6 BB.  Phillips started but only lasted into the 3rd.  We could only manage 5 hits.  Cerny our only batter with more than 1.

On Tuesday we host Northern KY and next weekend Troy will be in town for a 3-game series
