We've added 2 more goals in the 2nd half.  The first coming in the first 5 min. from Ava Akeel off an assist from Anna Bennett.  The second in 61' again by Ava Akeel off an assist from Kelly Monaco.

Trine is clearly an inferior opponent and we've already taken 23 shots with 13 on goal and there's still 20 min. left to play.

5-0 is the final score and you'd like to hope that we're starting to find some offense as the B1G season opens next Sunday hosting Penn State.

Kopel played the entire game and preserved our season's streak of not allowing a goal and defensively we only allowed Trine 4 shots with 2 on goal.  Hoosiers ended with 27 total shots; 14 on goal.

I was amazed to see Trine playing Indiana both in mens and women. Trine is a very small but quickly growing private school just north of Fort Wayne in Angola. I have family on their hockey team and several friends of family on their football team. Anyway, very cool for Trine despite the thumping.

Guess we should have saved a couple of the 5 goals we scored Wed. against Trine.  Another shutout by Gerstenberg but unfortunately, another shutout for the Hoosier offense and the match ends 0-0.

IU women managed just 7 total shots; 3 on goal whereas PSU had 15 total shots; 8 on goal.  Gerstenberg should be demanding a pay raise.

Next up is a Thursday evening trip to Minnesota to face the Gophers.

PSU is the annual top dog in the Big Ten and always top 10 nationally while Trine is DIII. That's the obvious reason. The team still has maybe its best defense and worst offense in program history.

Minny gets a goal in 67' ending our opponent's scoreless streak.  We've yet to take any shots in the 2nd half.

And they add a second goal in 75'.  We might have been able to tie it up at 1-1 and salvage a draw but this team seems incapable of scoring 2 goals in the remaining 15 min.  Not a fun season.

Make that score 3 goals in the remaining 14 min.  Minny nets another one 76'.

Undefeated no more.  Plain crazy to think this is just our first loss in 9 matches when we have zero offense and tonight Gerstenberg couldn't work her goalkeeper magic.  Minny wins 3-0 with 10 total shots and 5 on goal.  We do not get a single shot in the second half and finish with 2 total shots for the entire match.  Abyssmal.

Try for some redemption on Sunday in Madison, WI.
