As has been the case this AAU season, getting box score data has been verrrrrrrrrry  sloooooooooow.  Most of first round games in the Nike event are available except for Indy Heat and I'm hopeful second round data will get posted in the next couple of hours.  On the other side, adidas, which has typically been very prompt in posting box scores has yet to post anything from yesterday's games.  Below are a couple of snippets I've come across this morning.

From the adidas event - '19 Zeke Nnaji, PF, D1 Minnesota – It was another game and another big time performance for Nnaji. One of the fastest rising players in the country, Nnaji again showed his unique combination of size, athleticism, and skill on Saturday. Nnaji scored around the rim, hit pick and pop jumpers, and then also rebounded well. Already Nnaji has made a jump into the top 50, but it is possible he is still to low in the rankings. 

Also from adidas - '20 Anthony Leal, SG, Indiana Elite  – It was one of those games for Leal who simply shot the heck out of the ball. Leal made no less than seven threes in his team’s afternoon blowout win. It has been a monster spring for Leal, and his shot making was on another level on Saturday. Add in that he can also really attack the rim and has a good feel for the game, and it makes Leal a big time problem to defend.

It's simply crazy, in this day and age, that boxes can't be posted within 15 minutes of a game finishing.

Below are the stats for all of Saturday's Nike games except for the Indy Heat which has not yet had stats posted for either game.  Since there have not been any stats posted whatsoever for today's games, it may well be late tomorrow before they are.  Over on the adidas event, nothing, nada, zip, so I don't know if we'll get any box score info or not for this weekend.

[Class of '66 Old Fart]

D1 Minnesota 17’s defeat Indiana Elite 74-73 in overtime to win the adidas Chicago Classic. Both teams finished 8-1 in the adidas Gauntlet and with that D1 Minnesota moves to 25-1.  Matthew Hurt led the way for D1 Minnesota with 25 points, Zeke Nnaji with 19 points and Jamison Battle had 15 points on 5 3-pointers in the title game win.

Posting what I have through Sunday's Nike event.  Still missing 2 of the Brooks and TJD games as well as 1 of Watford and Kira Lewis and I'm not optimistic anything will get posted at this point.  Over at the adidas event, a total washout on any boxscores and not expecting any at this point.  Disappointing weekend.   All 3 of the circuits have events scheduled for July 11-15, and coaches will be permitted to attend.  Nike will be in Augusta, SC for its Peach Jam; adidas in NYC and UA in Atlanta, GA.

Watford has been really struggling with shooting percentages as of late.

The missing game from this past weekend's Nike event finally got posted and it was the 3rd game of the weekend that pitted the Watford and Lewis against Brooks and TJD.  Watford  and Lewis came out on top 77-75.  I have no idea why Brooks apparently did not play in the second game on Sunday.  And it looks like the stats from the adidas event will remain classified information.

Following last weekend's Nike event in Hampton, VA, IU targets honored as follows:

FIRST TEAM INCLUDES:

KOFI COCKBURN
Team: Renaissance (NY)
Record: 3-1 (8-8 overall)

EYBL Hampton stats: 18.0 PPG, 53.3 FG%, 13.3 RPG
Full season stats

Game 1: 11 PTS (4-8 FG), 10 REB, AST
Game 2: 22 PTS (11-15 FG), 14 REB
Game 3: 17 PTS (6-14 FG), 15 REB, STL
Game 4: 22 PTS (11-17 FG), 14 REB, AST

The Renaissance (NY) won three games in Hampton and qualified for Peach Jam, and that wouldn't have happened without their star big man Kofi Cockburn. The 6-foot-11 center had two 22-point, 14-rebound games, en route to averaging 18.0 points and 13.3 rebounds. Cockburn is highly valuable on the defensive end as well, and did a terrific job of staying out of foul trouble during session four. The Renaissance are an extremely talented bunch, and if Cockburn is producing like this, they'll be a dangerous lower seed in July.

Trayce Jackson-Davis had his best EYBL session of the season in Hampton, averaging 22 points and nine rebounds in a tough final session for the Indy Heat. They wound up winning their finale after and 0-3 start, and their Peach Jam-clinching win wouldn't have been possible without Jackson-Davis. In a must-win game over MeanStreets, without start Keion Brooks, Jackson-Davis went nuts, recording 28 points and 10 rebounds on 13-for-22 shooting. Jackson-Davis and Brooks give Indy Heat one of the best one-two frontcourt combinations in the country, and they should be a dangerous duo in July.

These are the teams that qualified for the Nike Peach Jam finale July 11-15.  All of our current Nike targets will be participating except for Trendon Watford and Kira Lewis of the Georgia Stars.  Their overall record for the 4 spring events was only 6-10.
