Dont be surprised if IU finds a pulse now and closes strong to sneak into big ten tourney.

Mercer teams always get hot late. It just takes half a season to find defined roles and salvage respectability which is the issues with his tenure. Not something to be proud of.

Our 1-game winning streak ended last night with a 9-6 loss to Rutger.  We led 5-1 after 5 complete.  Rutger scored 2 in the 6th and added 3 more in the 8th and in the 9th while we could only manage to score 1 more.  Rivera pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 1 BB and charged with Rutger's first 3 runs.  Seebold pitched 2 innings allowing 3 more runs to score.  Matalski pitched the 9th and also charged with 3 runs.  3 of Rutger's 9 hits were HR that accounted for 6 of its 9 runs.  We had 12 hits with Koskie going 4-5 with 4 RBIs.  We'll try to salvage the series today at 1:00.

6-4 Hoosiers win.

Tied at 4 apiece after 4 innings.  Both teams scored all 4 of their runs in the 1st inning.  Linn started for IU and Matalski had to come in and get the 3rd out of the 1st inning after Linn allowed 6 hits and charged with all 4 BSU runs.  But after that BSU only got 5 more hits and was held scoreless.  We had 9 hits.  Hanley and Malamazian each with 2; Hanley 2 RBIs.

Next weekend we host Minny (18-13) (3-9).

Hoosiers break out the heavy lumber and take the weekend opener 11-3.  We had 13 hits that included 5 HR from 5 different players.  Koskie led the way with 3 RBI.  Neubeck started and pitched 6 innings before tiring in the 7th.  He allowed 4 hits, 2 BB and charged with 1 run.  Vogel took over in the 7th but gave up 3 hits and 2 runs and was replaced by Seebold who finished the game without allowing another MD hit.

Our first HR on the night was from leadoff batter Hogan Denny who smashed the first pitch of the game over the right field wall.

Maryland broke out its own heavy lumber today pounding out 14 hits and winning 14-4 in a run-shortened game.  Rivera started and made it through the 1st but couldn't get an out in the 2nd giving up a total of 5 hits, 3 BB, 1 HBP and charged with 6 Maryland runs.  Mastalski came on and pitched into the 4th allowing another 2 Terp runs to score before Jacobi came on and ended the inning.   But the beating didn't stop.  Jacobi, Linn and Gubitosi gave up 7 more hits and 5 more Maryland runs.  Meanwhile we managed just 6 hits on the day.

Tomorrow's game set for noon and televised on basic BTN.
