Hoosiers pick up a 12-5 win.  Rybarczyk started and went 3.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.  4 additional IU pitchers gave up 3 more runs on 4 hits.  Staff had just a single BB.

We pounded out 15 hits.  Freshman Jasen Oliver had 4 hits of which 2 were HR.  Sam Murrison in his first at bat of the season blasted a solo HR.  Mathison and Tibbitts each with 3 hits.  Oliver and Tibbitts each 3 RBI; Mitchell with 2.  Despite the score, we left 11 men on base.

Next up is a 4-game weekend series with Butler.  Thursday night the teams will play in Indianapolis at 5:00.  They'll play a single game in Bloomington Friday evening and a doubleheader on Saturday.

We're supposed to host Indiana State (21-5) tonight at 6:00 but Mother Nature may have other plans.  Right now the forecast for Bloomington is not good.  If it's able to be played, it will be televised on BTN+.   It was just 2 weeks ago we played the Sycamores in Terre Haute and they kicked our butts 15-7.

Mother Nature cooperated and despite spotting ISU 6 runs in their first 4 at bats, Hoosiers rebounded scoring a total of 16 runs on 14 hits and won the game 16-7.  Trailing 6-0 going into the bottom of the 4th, Hoosiers scored 6 of their own; added 6 more in the 6th; 3 more in the 7th and 1 more for good measure in the 8th.  Cerny went 4-6 with 4 RBI.  Mathison, Stadler and Oliver each with 2 hits and Mathison, Brenczewski and Pyne each had 2 RBI.  7 IU pitchers allowed ISU's 7 runs on 9 hits; 5 BB and 16 strikeouts.

Win moved our season record to 16-14 and we're 1-2 in conference play.  This weekend will be in College Park, MD to play the Twerps (20-8) (3-3).  All 3 games will be televised on BTN+.

Evansville goes home with a 5-4 win.  They only had 4 hits off 7 IU pitchers but they were timely.  Didn't help that we put 8 Evansville runners on base with walks and hit 3 batters.  We had 7 hits with Brenczewski and Mitchell with 2.  Cerny had 2 RBI.

This coming weekend we're on the road at Minnesota.

Tonight at 6:00 we're scheduled to play Ball State (25-15) at Victory Field in Indianapolis.  Currently the weather forecast is showing showers and light rain in the Indy area from 3:00 - 8:00 so who knows.  We were scheduled to play BSU in Bloomington 2 weeks ago and that game was canceled due to rain.  In tonight's game, we'll be designated the visiting team.

The highlight of the day was Josh Pyne getting his 200th career hit becoming just the 24th player to do so and the first since 2018.

The low light of the day was exactly that.  Ball State does not have a lighted field and the game was called due to darkness after 12 innings tied at 7-7.

There was another low light and that's the fact that once again we put ourselves in an early hole and had to play from behind.  Phillips started, faced 7 batters, gave up 4 hits (3 doubles) and 3 runs.  From that point we used 10 more pitchers who collectively gave up 14 hits.

After scoring 3 in the 1st, BSU added a run in the 3rd, 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 7th.  We finally got on the board with a single run in the 4th, scored 3 in the 8th and tied the game at 7-7 with 3 more in our 9th.  Neither team scored after that.

We had 12 hits led by Cerny with 3 and 4 separate batters with 2 apiece.  Brenczewski, Stadler & Mitchell each had 2-RBI.

This weekend we host Rutgers (24-16) (3-9)
