#IUBASE vs Louisville

Recommended Posts

Fortunately Sabol gives up no more but probably gonna need to hold this 1 run lead for 12 more outs which will be tough given our bullpen. Given what Saalfrank has been this year about as good as could ask but have a sick feeling those 2 runs we lost on the diving catch are gonna be a killer.

Dedelow has twice just missed a HR and besides the diving catch, a failure by Fineman to score off a wild pitch earlier in same inning hurts. This one run lead feels like it should be bigger and we have 12 outs to get to hold this lead which will be tough. End 5.

That "wild pitch" was ruled a foul ball..

Louisville left fielder robs us of 2 more runs with a diving catch at the wall. Louisville going to their elite arms now so not sure we can score any more and may need to hold this lead rest of way where it is at to win. 4-1 after 4.

That was one hell of a catch by their left fielder. Sometimes the defense just makes a spectacular play. The mood feels like IU just holding on and like you said those two runs could end up being the difference.

No I mean the one after that where catcher miss fielded it off the carom at the back stop but Fineman committed to not going. I think you are talking about the wild pitch where 3rd was taken and sent back if I'm not mistaken

Place looks about as full as I've ever seen it (which obviously isn't uncommon) including the 'expensive seats' behind home plate that you have to have a specific ticket for! Long shot view confirms every seat full pretty much.

Today's Attendance: 3,077 A season-high.

I figured somewhere around there. Still far from record which I believe was like 4,300 at the regional 3 years go. Regular season record I believe is 3,800 that same season against PU. End 6 by the way.

Sabol reaches end of line with runners on 1st and 2nd in 7th. Didn't get a couple of very close strike calls that were probably just off plate and that's looming large as we make a pitching change for Kyszko.

This game is a great example of why we are much better off heading to Lexington than Louisville for the Regional. UK is a super offense but only decent pitching. Louisville is a bit of a weaker offense but their pitching is outstanding especially the bullpen. Their 3 weekend starters are just as good as their bullpen which is who we would face in a Regional. Their one struggle has been their weekday starter who we got to early but would not see in the tourney. Facing their top arms it would be goodnight Charlie. Much rather face a super offense than a super pitching staff in postseason.

End 7

We had one narrow path to victory and somehow we navigated down it! Their one bad pitcher was their weekday starter and we got to him fast. We had no chance against their bullpen but somehow our mediocre bullpen held on for about 5 innings and we just beat the no. 2 team in the country to stop their 15 game win streak. Barring a collapse we are dancing and want nothing to do with this Cardinal team in postseason!

What?????????? Our RPI moved up only 3 spots with this win. NCAA needs to abandon it immediately after this. How does this not move us up a bit more? Granted our loss to PSU somehow only cost us 8 spots so clearly RPI doesn't overreact to wins or losses.
