  1. QB is out middle of next year. So only a few months after the end of the season. No way a lame duck has the power to force Dolson to keep Woodson.
  2. Who'd think that I'd ever look at that list of schools and think IU would be the best choice for a football player? Cig is going after some good players. He looks like one.
  3. https://indiana.rivals.com/news/indiana-football-2024-transfer-portal-tracker Just added: Alex Wollschlaeger, Offensive Lineman - Bowling Green: Wollschlaeger is an experienced, three year starter at Bowling Green along the Falcons' offensive front. Throughout his time at Bowling Green, Wollschlaeger started pretty much exclusively at right tackle. This past season, he was a first team All-MAC selection, just a year after being named third team All-MAC. Wollschlaeger has one year of eligibility remaining. Per source, Wollschlaeger is expected to visit Indiana on Friday, Dec. 13. 247 has him as a 4* transfer and #2 OL (33 overall) in the portal
  4. I'm not sure where to put this but this seems like the best place. I just don't see this happening. Doesn't have much experience and only 55% completion rate in the experience he does have. https://www.si.com/college/ohiostate/news/ohio-state-buckeyes-devin-brown-transfer-indiana-hoosiers
  5. Woodson is turning IU basketball into what IU football has traditionally been for me: A team I follow and want to win but I care deeply about so the outcomes don't really matter much either way. Not much excitement after a win, just a shrug after a loss. Cignetti is turning IU football into what IU basketball used to be for me.
  6. He has an agent so this might be more like a free agent recruitment than a HS kid recruitment? I like our chances if Woodson's only involvement is offering money. He can do that but more effort is too much for him. That said, I don't really care very much either way if we land him at this point.
  7. I understand that. But a freshman QB with no chance to play after the QB coach already accepted a new job? Sure, he may enter the portal but what advantage does he get by not entering now? None that I can see. Already we have the players who didn't have large roles in the portal. Makes sense. After the season ends, there might be a few others who actually play enter. I hope not but it happens and it makes sense why they're not in it now. Someone who doesn't and won't play? Why wait? I guess we'll see but I'm thinking (ok, hoping) all of those are already in the portal.
  8. I'm all for players getting paid but there does have to be some structure. This is blatant tampering. I know it's been going on for a long time but this gives the appearance that they don't even care about hiding it anymore.
  9. A. Mendoza isn't in the portal at this time. If he planned to leave, I think he would have already entered. The chances of him getting PT in the playoffs is ~0%.
  10. The current administration that hired Cignetti after spending $20M to fire Allen and, when it became clear he was a winner, gave him a big raise to keep while also increasing the assistant coaching salary pool to almost that of OSU and making a commitment to NIL? That administration? Yeah, they obviously don't care about the money sports.
  11. I'm pretty sure his problem is the opposite of spam.
  12. I just saw his announcement. He says in there, "for the sake of my football future this is the decision I have reached." I guess that translates into, "If I stay here, I'll get killed. I need to transfer for my own safety."
  13. Question about Mendoza. He has pretty impressive numbers and can run but I saw he got sacked 41 times (over 3.5/game). Was his line just that bad? Or were there QB sneaks that didn't go anywhere that just counted as sacks instead of runs for some reason? Is he just not good at avoiding the rush? For that completion percentage and possibly with a bad line, were a ton of his throws short? Did he throw many bombs? I haven't watched any Cal which is why I ask. Great numbers and a big guy so I hope IU can land him.
  14. Funny read. https://www.purdueexponent.org/opinion/letters_to_editor/barry-odom-purdue-coach-football/article_cc999dd6-b7db-11ef-ba3f-1b15e3fb8076.html
  15. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/paul-finebaum-predicts-national-championship-winner-without-hesitation I am truly shocked that Paul Finebaum would think Georgia will win the championship. Shocked, I say. Their starting QB is out? Irrelevant. They won the SEC championship so they're obviously the best team in the nation. Probably among the best ever. Choice between them and the Super Bowl winner? Georgia, without hesitation.
  16. So none of the teams that made the CFP or had a real possibility to do so. The majority still only played 9 P4 teams, just like IU.
  17. I'm confident he can pull off the level of this year's FSU.
  18. Do any SEC schools play more than 1 P4 school in the non-conference? I know Bama didn't. If not, IU plays 9 games against P4 schools as did Alabama. So you think IU should play more games against P4 schools than SEC schools do? Unless IU plays more P4 games we can't criticize the SEC for playing only 8 conference games? That makes no sense. It takes time to build a program. Even going into next year, IU will still get less respect than an 11-1 record and a CFP birth should get. That's because it will be believed this year was a fluke. It'll take several seasons in a row of being good to start to get real respect. Getting wins against weak schools helps to pad the win/loss record. If they can win 2/3 or more of their games in conference the respect will come.
  19. But why should they? IU's weak non-conference schedule this year didn't cost them a CFP bid.
  20. They play 9 B1G games. It just happened that this year the 2 teams from last year's national championship game weren't as good. They still finished 7-5, 6-6 so they were decent. Most years you won't have that. Even with that, IU's SOS ended up close to that of ND and SMU, 2 other teams that got at-large bids to the CFP. I've long said that if they win all 3 non-con games they just need to win 3 B1G games to go to a bowl so making the non-con games easy wins is important. Cignetti has done an amazing job in year 1 but those schedules were already made. Even if they weren't, I wouldn't have a problem with it. He now needs to make the program a consistent winner. I believe he can do that, but a couple more years of easy non-con wins will help with that. To put it briefly, getting the most wins possible is better than playing tough non-conference opponents. The SOS will work itself out since IU plays in the B1G.
  21. Playing IU has been a cure for poor 3-point shooting for the last 7 years.
  22. Posters here have brought him up and rivals has him on their list of IU targets. https://indiana.rivals.com/news/indiana-football-2024-transfer-portal-tracker
  23. Replace "https://x" (everything before the .com) with "twitter" before pasting. I do it at x/twitter then hit enter then copy/paste the URL after that. That is the most consistent way I've found.
  24. This year UI had only 2 road losses and Iowa 1 home loss. Great chance for IU to show if they can sustain this or not. They could go 2-1 in that 3 game stretch or 0-3. I doubt they go that 0-3. 2-1 or 1-2 are more likely. The first 2 games are difficult but winnable. A win at Oregon is unlikely.
  25. That's not difficult The offense is terrible So is the defense
