  1. There's still football portal recruiting to distract us from what Woodson is doing to our basketball program.
  2. I'm disappointed by the loss but it is something to build on. IU still made the the CFP, that can't be taken away. This can be used to sell recruits that they're what's needed to take the next step.
  3. This was the best football season of my life. Even if IU becomes consistently good/great this season will still remain very special to me. Such an amazing turn around. Taking a consistent loser (that knows they're a loser) and turning them into a winner over night. And making them believe. All the coach of the year awards and the raises are well earned because it was a truly amazing feat. I look forward to next season for one of the few times in my life.
  4. Here are the coaching staff's new contracts. Big money possible in bonuses: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/new-iu-football-assistant-coach-deals-include-massive-raises-and-bonus-opportunities/
  5. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/beau-pribula-1.html Looks decent on small sample size. I read an article where Franklin was pretty high on the kid. Apparently, they were trying to get him to stay with the team throughout the playoffs despite him being in the transfer portal. That is pretty positive to me. They decided against it because his focus wasn't there because of the portal which is understandable.
  6. He uses the same excuses over and over because he's clueless as to what is wrong or how to fix it. It's obviously not his system so it must be that the players can't execute.
  7. Yes, those are things that some of us used to try to convince ourselves this could work out when he was hired.
  8. True. They're usually closer than they should be but IU tends to win them through strength of physical talent.
  9. So this is the type of hire a serious program makes. Not some old dude who's been around but hasn't done much like the past. I like it.
  10. He was interviewing for HC jobs? Did he make them come to him or was IU the only one pathetic enough to do that? I'm guessing knew he had the IU job in the bag so that was just a power play.
  11. Woodson's style might have actually worked in the early aughts. Of course, at that time he would probably be using systems from the 70s.
  12. No, I mean from the officials. Djd they do anything? 1Not what set him off.
  13. Woodson or an assistant should have talked to Ray Looze (swim coach) on how to effectively use NIL and the portal. For this year they've added an Olympic Gold medalist, a World Champion, and 2 NCAA runners up. Then today they added an Olympic bronze medalist for the 2nd semester. That's how you do transfers. They also have a legit chance to win the championship this year. Too late now for Woodson. He got his chance and blew it.
  14. Awesome. Countering Texas' mid-season Chris Guiliano addition with this. Love it. I especially love that he is also a great freestyle sprinter. That'll help relays and could score some points where IU is weaker. How amazing would a 100 breast final at the NCAAs be with 4 IU swimmers be? I also love that Rafael Miroslaw recruited him at the SC World Championships.
  15. They were in the building and running around on the court. Does that count?
  16. Did he sign? If so, it may not be easy for him.
  17. I'm pretty sure this was at least part of the reason why IU played Auburn in Atlanta last year. I use the term "played" as a technicality.
  18. Yes. Let's fire Mike Woodson and not un-fire Davis or Miller. Maybe this time put forth real effort and thought into the hiring process.
  19. The problem here (as with many of the other problems the NCAA has had) is inconsistency. There are other routes players take between HS and NCAA which don't count against them even though they're still competing. Prep school is one of the examples given. This is a problem of the NCAA's own making.
  20. Davis' recruiting was a big problem and it certainly wouldn't have been helped by more money. He wasn't good at evaluating talent, instead he just went after the highest rated players he could find. He didn't care if they actually fit. Money may have helped him land some of his misses but it wouldn't have made him better at that. He also had problems putting together a well rounded roster with depth since he didn't take fit or roster building into account - just their ranking. It's interesting how after 7+ seasons of Miller and Woodson, even Davis starts to look good to some people and a few wish for a return of Crean. No thanks.
  21. I believe that was @Stuhoo. I'm more interested in seeing the new names that come up rather than the 3 retreads you mentioned above. McCollum is a (mostly) new name but he already has his own thread. We already have a couple of interesting names and there will probably be 1 or 2 more to add before the end of the season. There usually is a late season darling or two.
  22. Names I've seen mentioned on these boards: Alan Huss Bucky McMillan
  23. Yes, Davis was not a good coach. Let's not forget the Conley f-up that also lost any chance at Oden.
  24. At least with him you know if they're not winning it's not for lack of effort. The same can't be said about the current or previous IU coaches.
