I can't immediately remember seeing Bailey/Sisley and Alexis/Tucker on the court at all this year, though I admittedly have a terrible memory and am not trying that hard, lol. I'd love to see Ant Wright or someone else with a Synergy account run the efficiency metrics on how our different lineups play together.

Been a really ugly 1.5 games here. My goodness. I don't think the issue is about a bad habit of playing to the level of competition necessarily. This team had an issue with slow starts in general during the preseason. We'll see if they look more locked in against KSU/UL/UK... ...Or if the pessimistic read of the roster was a more accurate base case than a lot of us wanted to believe. Either way, I think I'm recalibrating on what a good season looks like for this team. Will probably need a lot of luck to make the tournament IMO. We could definitely upset a few teams if we get hot, though. Please start Alexis over Bailey. He's earned it.

I get the sentiment and think those matchups would be more fun too for geographic reasons. However... KenPom rankings: Butler - 62 Indiana State - 184 Ball State - 268 Kansas State - 66 Marquette - 67 Siena - 170 Incarnate Word - 192 Bethune Cookman - 193 Lindenwood - 334 From a strength of schedule POV, each school serves a different purpose. And we've scheduled the level of competition you mentioned, they're just not local / big names.

Chicago State plays DePaul, Saint Louis, Butler, Minnesota, Iowa, Loyola IL, Indiana Alabama A&M plays Indiana, Clemson, and Ole Miss Lindenwood plays Texas Tech, Saint Louis and Indiana. UConn plays New Haven (360/365[!] on KenPom), UMass Lowell (335), East Texas A&M (333) UNC plays Central Arkansas (348), NC Central (346), USC Upstate (320) Duke plays Army (351), Niagara (316), Howard (319) It's a long season. Lot of factors influence how the schedule is made.
-
To be fair it looks like UConn, Duke, and UNC all also play 3 teams ranked in the 300s in KenPom. Not an expert on scheduling by any means but seems like we've got a similar framework to the top programs. No longer bringing a knife to a gun fight like we were with Woody. The matchups themselves may not be exciting obviously but I don't think anything to take issue with the staff over. They'd be an outlier to not have any very "sugary" cupcakes.

First half of Illinois vs Bama is some of the best basketball this year so far
-
I am going to hate playing Illinois this year

With you there.

Marquette doesn't even get a shot off coming out of a timeout with plenty of time. Yeesh. Regardless of the outcome of this game, they are not good. Not right now anyway. FWIW Dayton is 73 on KenPom, so not a slouch.

Illinois / Bama should be a great one Dayton winning at Marquette by 7 with 7 mins and change left

Missed opportunities down the stretch for UConn. Tough loss to Arizona at home without their leading scorer and rebounder (Reed) and Mullins. They will be a very tough out come March.
-
Huskies take the lead with 2:03 to go. Great game. Koa Peat is the real deal.

UConn ties it up 3:30 to go
