In the long run no. But that’s a whole different situation. If he can consistently get to bowl games and only miss every few years, that’s successful for football. If we pass Michigan State as the 4th best in the East, that’s ultra successful. But in basketball, Archie doesn’t only have to make this team win, he has to make them annual Big Ten title contenders and a national powerhouse who is considered to be a national title contender basically every season. Where we are talked about in the same sentence as UNC, Duke, UK and KU every single year. Allen has a way better chance at getting to a bowl game 3 out of 5 years than Archie does in becoming a national powerhouse. Now of Archie’s only goal is to be a yearly NCAA tourney team, then our standards have obviously dropped and he can pull that off and we can just settle for getting in. We all want the team to succeed, doesn’t mean we all believe it is going to. We will cheer every game, doesn’t mean we think it’s a successful season. I would have stopped being a fan a long time ago if I didn’t think Indiana could never make it back. I just don’t think Archie is that guy. Mavericks beat the Nuggets tonight 109-106. Mavericks played 10 guys. 9 of the 10 scored in double digits with the high of 14 which Tim Hardaway Jr and Maxi Kleber each scored. Dorian Finney-Smith, Luka Doncic and Delon Wright our in 12. Jalen Brunson had 11. Kristaps Porzingis Seth Curry and Justin Jackson had 10. Basketball hasn’t failed YET. But it is failing at the moment. This team is predicted to miss the NCAA tourney for a reason. Franklin was a good surprise. Wouldn’t mind starting him at the 2 with Phinisee at the 1. Though i would only play him about 15 minutes. Would allow to have Green and Al coming off the bench. Still not sold on Anderson. Too many times he just kind for in and looked like he should be at Gannon instead of IU. Hunter is definitely shaking off A LOT of rust. Pretty embarrassing first half. Doesn’t really matter who is sitting. Hustle wasn’t great. Terrible passes. Not crashing the boards enough with the size advantage we have. Shooting is still bad. This team is going to have to rely on defense. The offense absolutely isn’t going to be good enough and that’s really just a given at this point. Gotta get stops and fast break points.
