It figures we wouldn’t get him. Which isn’t a good sign really for us. Sure we will have a really good team next season(if Smith, Al and TJD all return). He just would have really added some good depth at the 4/5 spot and gotten ready to either start alongside TJD or been a starter his sophomore year. It’s sucks. Leal will likely end up our highest ranked guy somewhere in the 90’s(going by 247 composite). The freshman next year won’t be looked on to contribute a ton but if no one else signs, Leal will have to be the one to step up the most with Green leaving. I say Marquette because it seems to often that we lose recruiting battles like this for whatever dumb reason. We’ve gotten Zeller and Bryant and Romeo. But lost out on many more. Especially in the Crean era. It’s doesn’t feel like. TJD recruitment where we just kinda knew he was coming here. Feels more like Brooks where it’s a tossup. No Vermont or Liberty yet. But if both keep it up like expected, they’ll be there eventually. Liberty has two great chances against Vanderbilt and LSU. Candy isn’t a great win but for a school like Liberty, it is. Vermont has Virginia next, which if they can stay within 20, that’ll be good for them. Well really they are punishing the school by not letting them compete in such a huge tourney and important tourney. And the coach as well who can’t add to his record. Joel Embiid, Al Horford, LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez, Nikola Jokic, Nikola Vucevic, Demarcus Cousins(when healthy), Lauri Markkanen, Anthony Davis, Kristaps Porzingis, Blake Griffin, Karl Anthony Towns, Jaren Jackson, Marvin Bagley, Myles Turner, Domantas Sabonis, Deandre Ayton and plenty of others are good in the post but can also be trusted to post up and make a play. And you have your rim runners like Clint Capela, Jarrett Allen, DeAndre Jordan, Hassan Whiteside, Rudy Gobert and others. It’s Avery talented league. It’s somewhere in the middle of those two eras. More defense than in the 80’s but getting back to that point. And less defense and less thug ball than in the 90’s. More teams are playing team ball overall and players are more skilled overall than ever. Some teams are hard to watch but most are pretty good. Right now he’s in 2nd on Usage rate. Russell Westbrook was at 41.65% in 16-17. Harden is at 41.37% which is just ahead of Harden from last season at 40.47%. I still enjoy college basketball. All the upsets and rivalries and loyalty of fans. The atmospheres give it a great vibe that the NBA can’t match. But the NBA is great too. But at the same time I can acknowledge that quality on the court has went down. And the NBA is getting younger it seems. I don’t think it’s colleges faults for players not being ready for the NBA because some of the players don’t look ready for college. I think it starts in HS and earlier where so many are coddled and told their the greatest since sliced bread. But I still very much enjoy CBB. I remember a little. But my opinion is based on what I’ve seen over the last decade. And when it comes to the NBA, teams are very different.
