  1. Carton would likely have taken Phinisees spot this season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. Miami is definitely not a tourney team. Florida got overrated/overranked... and I got suckered into it to... but man.. I had it in the back of my head 2nd guessing Florida. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3. If we are talking about winning championships, you have to have talent. Even Virginia who so many want to say won with a bunch of 3 stars. Their team last year was put together of all Top 100 guys except for Jack Salt and Kahei Clark who were outside the Top 300. That included 3 Top 50 guys in Guy, Jerome and Diakite. Those Villanova teams that people want to say the same about? About the same situation. The biggest thing for them is that they were able to get big recruits to stay more than 1 year. Spellman and Brunson were both Top 25 recruits and each stayed 2-3 years. Even UNC had guys like Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson. Jackson was ranked 9th and stayed 4 years. Or looking back to 2010 with that Duke team who had Kyle Singled that 4 years as a Top 10 recruit. Now if you want to talk about just competing in the Top 4 or 5 of the Big Ten, then you can recruit in just the top half of the B1G and be content with that. 4. The big game is really the only one that matters. Since MSU won theirs... Indiana loses to Maryland 64-52 Illinois loses to UNC 75-70 tOSU loses to Florida 84-75 MSU loses to UNC 89-72 UM loses to UofL 82-76 in a game that doesn’t exist anymore. Wisconsin loses to Duke 68-63 UM loses to Villanova 79-62. The B1G is averaging a 77.3-67.1 loss since a team last won. Final Fours mean jack squat when it seems to be a given anymore that the B1G team will lose when if they’re in the title game. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. Georgetown with a good win(as of now). Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  6. It’s embarrassing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. And the Big Ten needs to change that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. Oh he took a beating that’s for sure and probably should have drawn a lot more fouls though a lot of times it seemed like refs let him get hit a lot. But he wasn’t going to dish it out. He wasn’t going to play as physical or aggressive as TJD or even what Vonleh did. But he was just incredibly smart and a lot of times used the opponents physicality and aggressiveness against them. 9. Cody Zeller wasn’t the most physical player we’ve ever had at the 5. And he’s one of the best to have ever wore an IU uniform. He was as good as you could ask from a 5 in today’s game. Garcia would have been fine. The myth that the B1G is just so much more physical than every other conference is beyond silly. Really you’re just saying refs don’t do their jobs. The Big East is still pretty physical as the teams and conferences culture carried over some. Going to Marquette isn’t going to hide him from Villanova, Butler, Xavier, Seton Hall and others every year. He would have made a massive difference playing at the 4 alongside TJD. Giving the team great length and more offensive skill. Wanting Luke Brown instead and comparing them as equals or superior/inferior based on ppg is ludicrous. Brown isn’t getting offers yet for a reason. Garcia was getting offers for a reason. He’s ranked 31st(247Sports) for a reason and Brown is unranked and has offers from only Ball State and Miami(OH) for a reason. What would be the difference between playing Bybee who is on the roster and Brown? Probably nothing as neither would see the floor. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. Nike keeps putting out these “City” uniforms and they have all been ugly as hell. Adidas wasn’t great, but I think Nike told the NBA to hold their beer when told they couldn’t make an uglier jersey. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  11. Don’t diss Faygo like that. It’s innocent. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. Just one of those years where Indiana didn’t have any big time recruits coming out. Leal will be the best of the 3 we have signed. I think Galloway will end up like a Hartman. Not a bad thing, but he isn’t going to ever be looked upon to score or have much of a load to carry. Not sure Geronimo I don’t really see star or anything out of him. Just a solid player that can play the 2 and 3. But Leal, he has the chance to be a really good player and leader of the team. The one thing I wanted to see from him was getting his release quicker and higher and it seems he did exactly that. We will have our own mini Klay Thompson I think. 13. You’re acting like Gard is actually a good coach. He’s pretty mediocre. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Much better 2nd half. We got really lucky in the first as they missed multiple open 3’s. Can’t be so lethargic to games in bigger games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. So we shouldn’t expect more? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. That was an embarrassing first half. Getting whooped up on by a bad Princeton team. Rob is still struggling.. beginning to think he will just be a backup for his career. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  17. You are welcome. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. People seem worried about Princeton for some reason... they haven’t been good this season. Indiana- 85 Princeton- 62 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  19. It’d be nice if we didn’t miss out on recruits at times. Like what if Josh Smith has actually came to IU? Or a name no one has heard since probably 2004... Robert Rothbart. Where they would have joined freshman DJ White, Robert Vaden, AJ Ratliff and James Hardy. As well as vets Mike Roberts, Bracey Wright, Marshall Strickland, Rod Wilmont and Pat Ewing. Or what if Trey Lyles had stuck to his commitment and given Indiana a true post presence that season? Or if Gary Harris came to Indiana? Or Kyle Guy? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  20. For some reason I just want to see Grand Canyon become the next Gonzaga. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  21. The stupid thing is that this loss will be looked upon as “Vermont can’t hang with the big boys so they shouldn’t be in the tourney.” Vermont could very roll through their conference and if they get tripped up in their tourney, should definitely be talked about as an at large. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  22. Both could have made very good college players just through length alone on defense. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. Or even going back to a season we would have be super good with DJ White. Jared Jeffries possibly would have been a 5 star as well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. I don’t know how many teams that have won without at least TWO Top 50 players playing consistently but that UConn team might be one of the few. Garcia would have been a huge get and a possible starter. Eventually we have to land multiple Top 50 kids. If Virginia can and into that system, why can’t we? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  25. Except Virginia had very good players. Villanova had very good players. Villanovas title team in 2016 had Ryan Archidiacono(57)and Daniel Ochefu(49) in 2012, Kris Jenkins(76) and Josh Hart(79) in 2013, Phil Booth(75) and Mikal Bridges(81) in 2014 and then Jalen Brunson(22) in 2015. All those guys played 20+ mph for them too and the top 7 of the rotation. Villanova in 2018 had Brunson, Bridges and Booth. Plus Omari Spellman(20) in 2016. Virginia had Mamadi Diakite(32) in 2015, Kyle Guy(37), Ty Jerome(44) and DeAndre Hinter(91) in 2016. And then Braxton Key as a transfer who was #59 as a prospect(someone IU fans should be familiar with as well). So the myth that these teams were doing it with only guys who were ranked super low and just did better can be put to rest because it just isn’t how it happens. Even UConn in 2014 where they came out of nowhere had Shabazz Napier(82) in 2010, Deandre Daniels(18) and Ryan Boatright(55) in 2011. That UConn team might be the biggest outlier.
