Because most fans think of the absolute best situation to happen. Where everyone makes that great leap and stays healthy. We have no clue what Green is going to do this year because he has been that inconsistent his entire career. We’ve seen peak Durham. We’ve seen peak Smith in a few games because he’s so inconsistent. Damezi isn’t a B1G player period. It’s looking like Race may not be either. Brunk and DeRon have the strength and size so that’s helpful. TJD is obviously by far and away the most athletic big man we have and that isn’t even close. Hunter is a mystery. By the end of the year TJD and Rob will be the main men of the team because of the ceilings reached and the inconsistencies of Green, Smith and Durham. Illinois has a top ten Big Ten player. That’s basically what they see. And probably thinking that Underwood can recreate the offense he had a Oklahoma State that averaged almost 86 points a game which was a team lead by Jawun Evans who was a very talented guard. The problem is the pieces actually falling together and those players making good decisions. Well Romeo has the ability to make it happen on the court. If you seriously think Romeo and Franklin are on the same level as freshmen, then you’re boy crush for Franklin has gone too far. You’re comparing an injured Romeo that was still arguably the best player on the team and one of the best freshmen in the nation to a guy who is no better than 9th in the rotation. Kinda the same this year. Freshman big man in TJD instead of Vonleh. Some vets like Davis, Brunk, Al and Green. Green is expected to be the #1 guy kinda like Sheehey was. A sophomore PG in Rob that we can only hope makes even half the jump Yogi did his Sophomore season. A talented wing that’s super athletic yet we still are waiting for it to come together(Troy was a freshman though). Only bad thing is that team was terrible on offense with an offensive coach. Well Romeo was a talent who was clearly head and shoulders better than everyone when healthy and someone who still averaged 16 a game injured. If Franklin can do that as a freshman, he will be starting and we will all be happy and excited. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That’s the most likely outcome. Last year Morgan and Romeo were clearly above everyone else. Green is the most likely to be our best scorer. That’s whether he starts or not. I don’t see Rob making a Yogi Ferrell jump(7.6 to 17.3). I think TJD will end up being the best post offensive player and maybe even best inside defender. He’s not Cody Zeller by any means, but he can definitely get himself 12 points a night and Brunk and Davis probably won’t average that combined. Al is the best 6th man candidate. Smith and Rob will fight for best perimeter defender. And I think we will see flashes of Hunters offense and be everyone’s “future top scorer.” The team has good pieces though it doesn’t have any alphas which could be a problem at some point. I think the Clippers just wanted to get him another 6th man trophy. He’s become the best 6th man ever. Even better than Jamal Crawford. Green just fits that mold. He’s a microwave. I’d be fine with him only playing 26-30 minutes depending on the night and depending on his play. If Green is our best player, I think we have big problems. Most recent I could find and the closest was Aaron Craft his freshman year. Only started two games, averaged 29.6 minutes per game and won 6th man of the year. That was the 2010-2011 season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Right... but no one is going to believe a corner has been turned until they prove they can win the games they are supposed to. They have 5 chances to win 3 games. They can upset Michigan. Penn State can be written in sharpie as a loss for this season. If in 4 weeks they aren’t at least 5-4, why should anyone believe the program is going to get any better? This is ending up to be the absolute best opportunity at a great season we will have because of how the schedule has worked out and how those teams have performed. The crazy thing about this season is that the team is absolutely good enough to beat Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska and Northwestern and be 7-2. But this team is also 1 injury away from being 5-7(Penix going down). Maryland, Nebraska, NW and Purdue are on our level. This team could pull off an 8-4(5-4) record.
