  1. It’s a shame for Duke that March Madness isn’t played in Cameron Indoor. Their home court advantage is real but they’ll lose to a double digit seed on a nuetral court. Mark it down now in December. It’s coming.
  2. Looks like we’ll escape but not a lot of confidence being built scraping by and losing to, some of these mid-majors. Need Syd back. Early January we have a brutal schedule. UCLA, Iowa, ILL and USC in first five games all ranked. Yikes.
  3. I think some of that comes from a lack of development and playing time as underclassmen. It’s been a mainstay of CTM teams that frosh don’t get minutes unless they’re Holmes/Buss level immediate impact. And like I mentioned above we usually only go 6-7 deep. Well, our upperclassmen finally graduated after benefiting from xtra years for injuries (Patberg/Cardano) or covid (Berger/Holmes). This is kind of the cliff you fall off eventually when you don’t develop young players and don’t hit a home run in the portal.
  4. Baylor at #15 is kind of a head scratcher. They lost to the Zags by 38, Tn by 15 and beat St. John’s by 1-pt in double OT.
  5. Seems like flirting with the injury bug because we only ever go 6 or 7 deep is finally biting us in the butt. My fears that we didnt use our team success to land talent the past few years is looking very real. Losing CMM and Syd this year we might be missing our opportunity and headed back to being irrelevant. Hope we hit the portal hard.
  6. To quote Steve Miller Band, “go on take the money and run.” And he did.
  7. Pretty sure it got us Ballo. (Closer to $2m but who’s counting?)
  8. Bako might be the most one dimensional player we’ve had since Romeo Langford. He only has interest in taking shots on the offensive end. Doesn’t even pretend.
  9. This can’t happen. They answered this on the reveal show tonight in talking about Miami, Bama, S. Car and Ole Miss. Teams that are done playing are not moving. Bama can’t jump IU. The only movement will be seeding, or autos bumping out the 11/12 seeds.
  10. I’m 100% behind this as well, although no chance it will happen because of the money involved with those bowls who will demand the big revenue fan bases that travel in their games. But wouldn’t it be cool if one year we have a season similar to Illinois this year at 9-3 and got to go to the Rose Bowl? How much more would that mean to a team than it will for a UGA/Bama/Tx/OSU, etc. who treat it as a stepping stone to the semifinals? Also, I went to Jacksonville for our trip to the Gator Bowl in 2020, and the week leading up to the game was packed with things for the team and events that celebrated their season. As much as the playoffs are going to mean a lot, missing that bowl game experience for teams who don’t host the game is a loss. It’s just going to feel like a road game at some point even if it’s a big time game obviously.
  11. It’s really screwing up what should be good, exciting first round games. An Indiana/Boise St game or a Tennessee/Arizona St game would be much more entertaining. Give the 8-12 seeds legitimate chances to win a game in the playoffs and go to a big bowl game. Does anyone really want to see Georgia or Texas or Oregon beat a 10-12 seed by 40 points just to go play OSU or TN or ND in the second round for a competitive game? Rank them 1-12 so you have competitive games down the board.
  12. The offense sure looks better with only one of Ballo/MR on the court at one time. How weird. Who could have predicted that?!
  13. The commissioner said as much to Reece Davis. That the teams who aren’t playing next week won’t have any more data points to be rearranged. So Miami behind Bama means they’re out.
  14. They’re definitely going to punish them in seeding. The only one that would get punished by being left out is probably Clemson though. But guaranteed the seeding will change based on winners and losers. The chairman just said it would be a data point they evaluate.
  15. Everyone knows the committee created this seeding system so that ND is guaranteed the 5-seed and an easy path tho the semi-finals. Almost a lock that’s where they are.
  16. That’s kind of what I figured. UGA would be closest to me, but A) prices will probably be outrageous and B) that’s the matchup I most fear potentially being blown out in.
  17. Anybody have insight on how much tickets would be if we end up on the road and if there would be any kind of an allotment for our fans?
  18. They’ve definitely signaled they wouldn’t punish a team for losing their conference championship, but I still think that only applies to getting in/not and not necessarily seeding. I think the way you lose is going to be a factor. If Georgia loses 38-7 to Texas, sure they stay in the field as a 3-loss team, but feel like they probably go from a 5 or 6 seed and hosting, to maybe a 9 or 10 seed on the road. It’s still another data point. No reason for them to ignore the result completely.
  19. Slim to none. But will just be happy to be in and hope we get a realistic matchup. At Georgia or At Texas would be a very tall task.
  20. They have to move up a spot above Miami. But probably will stay the same seed because of SMU.
  21. Run it up Herman! Leave no doubt.
  22. One thing you’ve got to say is what in the heck took them so long to go to an expanded playoff system? This is how college football always should have been. I’ve never been this dialed into so many difference games and conferences.
  23. I feel like Miami will fall to 11 or 12. That’s their second loss to a team with 3 losses. The committee will likely make it so the ACC gets a max of two teams. If Clemson beats SMU next week they bump Miami out. It shouldn’t affect IU.
