  1. Watched MD last night for the first time. He’s really good. Reminds me of a more athletic Thomas Bryant.
  2. I wish I could agree about matching up well. I hadn’t watched MD play until tonight. But they use those two bigs on the floor MUCH differently than we do. They’re long and athletic and move well around the perimeter. I actually think they might be a problem for our defense even though on paper it looks good.
  3. He’s done at the end of the season regardless. The admin is just being cautious about a mid-season change because not every coach and media person in the country has been watching for four years and understands. It’s maybe not a good look as a program to be moving on from a coach with a winning record and above .500 conference record. Unless a string of games or bad loss is in the forefront of things. Just let it play out. Our schedule is about to get hairy, and Woody isn’t learning to coach suddenly in February.
  4. I’m not counting on it. Think we need to drop a bit more in the standings or get blown out again for optics to be right for the rip chord move. Sit tight.
  5. It’s not over, but will be tough to close this gap. We played them tough. Think we’ll look back on that Shay missed three when wide open to put us up 8 as a big turning point. Syd missing two free throws to cut it back to 4 was big too.
  6. Good basketball game. Announcers in love with JuJu. But exciting game.
  7. So, word I’ve gotten today from someone very close to the situation is “eerily quiet” today. I think the plans are finalized and ready. But Dolson and Co. are being very intentional about optics and want it to go down when the timing is right so that it doesn’t crate red flags in the media and coaching world. I’d say 30% chance a bad loss at NW does it, but a 60% chance blowout losses in Feb. to Purdue, Wiscy, Mich, Mich St. will be the need for the mid-season plan.
  8. Positive. We won’t go down that road again. Former player with no head coaching experience. Dolson won’t take that chance again. Also Calbert isn’t interested.
  9. Agree completely. However, no concern there. We have nobody on our coaching staff the admin would ever consider hiring as the head coach on a permanent basis. Mark that down. Fact.
  10. I’m having Deja Vu I think. Woodson team looks terrible and it’s obvious he’s going to be fired, and the team wins an ugly game in support of him enough to make it hard for Dolson to pull the trigger. That was an ugly game between two bottom of the conference teams. But somehow this will get used to erase how far from expectations we are. Great job! You beat a 2-5 team in overtime! I don’t know, but after NW we’re going to lose six or seven in a row to the top half of the conference. It’s just a matter of time. I wish we would just fully implode for once and stop saving mediocrity.
  11. 10-30 from the field. 1-9 from 3pt. Ugly. Our offensive system is offensive.
  12. We ALMOST scored half of the number of points Illinois had against us at halftime last game. Improvement?
  13. You can say the effort looks better than the last two games, but I think it’s more that we’re watching two really mediocre teams.
  14. There’s a lot going on. Think it’s just about timing and setting up everything for successful transition. Wouldn’t surprise me if we got a Sunday or first thing Monday morning announcement.
  15. A women’s bball thread troll?? I guess it means we’re becoming more relevant, but that’s a first.
  16. Did Yarden foul out? We need threes and curious to see her on the bench otherwise.
  17. Not a stripe hater, but they’re calling some contact at the rim on the Illini side and letting it get physical on our end when we take it to the hoop. Hopefully that evens out last five minutes.
  18. They’re fighting. Which is all I can really want to see from an IU team on a night shots aren’t falling. Come on, let’s cut it to under six before the forth.
  19. This one might be the difference in the end of season separation already coming, and a mid-season firing.
  20. Welp, that was a waste of time. Off the the TGL broadcast I go!
  21. Garzon is moneyyy!!! Her and Syd playing like nails today. Love it.
  22. A lot of time left, but that was a good to great first half of basketball on the road against a ranked team. Admittedly I haven’t watched as much IU women this year mostly because of the obscure broadcast locations, but damn, I forgot what a breath of fresh air they are away from the struggle that is watching our men’s team. So much structure, heart, fundamentals. You almost forget what by it’s like watching a team where you’ve watched the players develop over multiple years and a coach that deploys the talent effectively year after year.
  23. Defense is leading the charge so far tonight. Good to see. We aren’t going to be an elite scoring team this year with our personnel, so fundamental defense not giving up easy scores is critical.
