Bare with me here. And to preface, I couldn’t be more excited about the IU football team and this season. And I’m in no way doubting them or their ability to compete at the highest level which is an incredible statement. BUT… was thinking about this new landscape with the expanded playoff. Do we think that there’s a possibility that finishing in the 9-12 range might be getting a little bit of a shaft from the players perspectives? I mean, great you made the playoff, huge accomplishment. But say you then “get to” travel to play a road game at Texas and lose. Is that lessor than the experience of playing in a premier bowl game and the week-long buildup and neutral warm weather site? Would winning the gator Bowl or Citrus Bowl be a bigger event for the program? Obviously the dream scenario is winning the first playoff game and getting to a Rose Bowl or Orange Bowl. But it feels to me like this might be a downside to the new system is rewarding our best season ever with an extra away game. Heck even if we get to host, it’s not a bowl game, it’s an extra home game in Bloomington in January. Anybody else feel this way at all?

Then IU and UCLA basketball should be ranked in the top ten. Each season should be judged on that seasons results alone.

Is there a reason we shouldn’t jump PSU? With Illinois losing again to fall to 3-3 in conf. PSU now have wins over 2-4 UCLA and 2-4 USC (in OT), so their best win is now 5-3 Wiscy who likely loses tonight at Iowa to fall to 3-3 in conf. So they will have not beaten a team with a winning record in conference. They have a loss. Why are their wins better than ours without a loss?

I have yet to hear anyone explain to me why Notre Dame is an 8-seed in the CFP projections with a home loss to Northern Illinois. Brand bias. That’s all.

If we were Notre Dame maybe. The polls have shown us no respect. If we end up a 1-loss team these point differentials will matter.

Hate to say it. But we need to run this up. Backup QB. Need to put up eye-catching numbers. Just winning won’t jump the “IU brand” into the top ten. I’d like to see at least 43 pts.

Putting this here so I can quote it all season long as needed: Reneau/Ballo on the court together is not a modern basketball lineup and will get beat by athletic lineups and make our offense look antiquated.

We’ll be alright. Like I said, brighter days ahead. Think we have a five star coming our way in October if nothing changes.

This would mean they’re potentially down to only 8 five-star scholarship players this season. They’re vulnerable.

Been fortunate to watch all the alums games so far and they have been the class of the tourney. Ahlinvi in particular has been really awesome on the ball and our best scoring threat along with Kotlov. Our goal keeping coach C-Lo in goal has been one of the best keepers in the tourney. And he’s great for this format because he’s so confident on the ball, so we don’t NEED to switch out a field player in target score time for an extra attacker. On to the elite eight and we have to be one of, if not the, favorite to win the mill-ey. Keep doing us proud boys.

Liam coming back on the market and our Hoosiers having one last scholly would be interesting.

Ugh. That’s a tough way to lose a championship game if indeed they hold on now.

Agree. And they seem young too, so a lot to build the program with going forward. They’ll need to figure out how to manage the portal to keep thing rolling like all of our programs.
