Our first five-star? https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/report-iu-football-could-work-the-transfer-portal-to-land-first-ever-5-star-recruit/?fbclid=IwAR0M0Vpmc6jiGR661rPT-a_KGNUqg7FJsYWC42axid8BrlhwQgjHptAjByg (I'm not sure how recruiting rankings worked way back in the day, but I'm assuming that Dave Schnell, Anthony Thompson and possibly Vaughn Dunbar would've been five stars?)

I love seeing him take those first two jumpers on the move, coming around the screen. We didn't have anybody who could do that last season. Our perimeter players did not take 3-pointers unless there was nobody within 5 feet of them -- and we usually missed even those.

Kyle Schwarber - Philadelphia Phillies
LamarCheeks replied to LIHoosier's topic in IUHoosier Baseballers in the Pros
Love Schwarbs -- but I guess I still got a bit of old school in me. Just seems weird to be doing a bat flip and admiring a bomb when you're batting .193. -
Kind of a fun little story about a pole vaulter from my alma mater who spurned years of Toiletmaker tradition within the family to sign with IU. (Years and years ago, I had his grandfather as a teacher). https://www.nwitimes.com/sports/college/hobart-star-riley-johnston-strays-from-family-tradition-commits-to-indiana/article_49051f0a-e14c-5193-9d5d-97082ab673ed.html

Good luck to him. I doubt he'll get drafted -- but you never know.

I really, really, really, really hope you're not comparing David Miscavige to Teri Moren. Because that would likely be the most absurd post in the history of this site. -

Schwarbs had another walk-off last night. Raised his average to a robust .206. -
Not sure what to think trading up to get Justin Fields. To have him fall to No. 11 wasn't expected -- so there's that. Just four years ago, they just signed a free agent QB, then traded up to get a QB and it was a terrible move -- so there's that. Ohio State QBs have typically sucked in the NFL -- so there's that. But Fields started at Georgia and is not a "full-blooded" OSU QB -- so there's that. The Bears coulda drafted John Elway or Dan Marino, and probably woulda just screwed them up -- so there's that. They traded three draft picks to get Fields, when they possibly coulda stayed at No. 20 and got him, or Mac Jones -- so there's that. Oh well -- I need a refill. My beer glass is half-empty. Or is it half-full?

This is for the uniform geeks (I am one): A numbers update. Next season ... Xavier Johnson will wear No. 0 Rob Phinisee will wear No. 1 Miller Kopp will wear No. 10 Logan Duncomb will wear No. 51 Tamar Bates will wear No. 53 https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/indiana-releases-new-basketball-jersey-numbers/?fbclid=IwAR3EMkZfhmhHrYe24aGHO5p7RrMuIJb9ACVeIRDS6_eAkfFfUomX_jE_moU -

Interesting thing about the Mike Roberts situation. It's been speculated this would happen, so it's not a surprise. But there's still no official word yet -- from Indiana (that he's leaving) or Cincy (that he's been hired). The only indication -- other than speculation from folks here who might have some inside info -- this is gonna happen is Goodman's tweet. Just to see if it actually had been confirmed, I googled "Mike Roberts, Indiana" and found 3-4 stories saying that he was leaving -- but the only source is Goodman's tweet. Guess nobody -- other than Goodman -- has done any reporting on it. Granted, it's a very small potatoes in the big world of college basketball -- but it's still interesting news to us IU fans.

Jordan Bohannon is staying at Iowa. I think that'll be his sixth year there. He'll be 32 years old next season.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Not surprising. Seemed as if he preferred being an on-court, sidelines coach -- as opposed to the administrative role to which he was assigned. But it was cool of him to hang around and help ease the transition between the Archie and Woody eras. Best of luck to him with the Bearcats. -
(2022) DB Dasan McCullough to INDIANA

Oh yeah! -
I wondered that, too. ... Or -- I couldn't help but recall Bobby Phills -- I wondered if maybe he was racing, or something. Otherwise, I just cannot fathom why he'd be going at such an inappropriate rate of speed through that intersection.

Wow. Stunning, sad development. Mongo has ALS -- and is not doing well. I grew up a half-hour from Chicago and was a senior in high school when the Bears won the Super Bowl. My friends and I lived and breathed Da Bears during that era. That roster was laden with iconic characters -- and McMichael was at the top of the list. Prayers to him and his family.

Just out of curiosity, where did you see the crash video? There is brief footage of the aftermath on Twitter, but one video claiming that it's the crash (on YouTube) is fake. It's a crash -- but not Clarke's.

ESPN story indicated no injuries for the driver of the other vehicle. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/31313103/former-kentucky-wildcats-guard-terrence-clarke-19-dies-following-car-accident

It's a fan message board. That's pretty much the whole point!

Not a huge fan of Doyel, but that's pretty commonplace on newspapers' websites. It's just a way to denote that the piece is a column rather than a news or sports story -- or some other type of article. -
Lots of rumors flying out there now, but this guy (a reporter in L.A.) says Boston is fine.

I'm sorta with you on this. Seems to me as if Brooks had plenty of chances to come aboard had he wanted. I'd be all Norman Dale and say, "My roster's complete" -- the 2021 version of "My team's on the floor." ... Galloway wanted to be here from the beginning, wanted to be here after Archie was fired and seemingly, still wants to be here.

Wouldn't happen to be someone Dane Fife was raving about during a recent press conference, would it?
-
Was this person thinking about leaving on his own, or is he being gently nudged out the door.

One of Wes Miller's UNGC assistants is following him to Cincy. Still haven't seen anything on Mike Roberts' plans ...
