  1. Two pick-sixes against Iowa, very mediocre vs. Idaho and three picks and some really bad throws against Cincy. There were some drops Saturday, but drops don't account for a 17-for-40 outing. I just don't think you can afford to stick with him. He's in his fourth year with the program, following three with season-ending injuries. I'm starting to think he's the Maurice Creek of the football program. Tons of potential and a pretty damn good player when healthy, but injuries have taken their toll. He's just not the same anymore. If I were making the call (and for one, I'm glad I'm not; for two, probably every IU football fan is happy I'm not), I go with Tuttle. Granted, it was against a FCS school, but against Idaho, I thought he looked really sharp and comfortable in a game for the first time at IU. Part of the reason I think you make the change now is you can get Tuttle's feet wet as the starter against an opponent we should beat. If Penix plays awful again at WKU, we're in a bind. You can't trust him with the offense, but do you want a new starting QB in front of 105,000 fans and a team that is really, really, really pissed because they think the refs handed us that game last year? I've seen the argument that Penix is more mobile than Tuttle. With all his injuries, I'm not so sure. I might be in the minority, but I say make the change now.
  2. Since this is Luke Brown news, I thought it would be a good fit for the Luke Brown thread (imagine that!). But it's been closed, so am posting here. News won't shake up the college basketball world, but it's interesting nonetheless. I've seen that he might have interest in Ball State. Don't know if that interest is mutual, however.
  3. Funny thing: Back in March, we pretty much were all saying "MAN, I'M READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!"
  4. I hadn't looked at the numbers until just now. Our QB was 17 of 40 with three INTs. Let that sink in for a minute or two. That's not just bad. That's pathetically, horrifically, putridly awful. I know there were a few drops, but still ... After an outing like that, our staff wouldn't be doing its due diligence if it didn't strongly consider a switch behind center. Tuttle's no Tom Brady, but there's no way he's plays that bad if he's out there today.
  5. Michigan State was godawful last year, while we were on the upswing. It appears we've traded places.
  6. Penix had absolutely no idea where that ball was going. He just chucked it out there. We really need to look at starting Tuttle next week.
  7. Penix made some nice throws today, but many more bad ones. And he had some drops -- which, obviously, aren't his fault. Still, he just seems way too inconsistent to me. I hope the staff at least considers a switch to Tuttle before next week's game.
  8. That's a fumble. ... Another blown red zone opportunity. That'll be our third trip with no points. This one will prove fatal, methinks.
  9. This team just sorta seems like it fell asleep.
  10. That was holding and PI on the same play!
  11. Jeezus -- we score a TD and add a PAT to go ahead. I go to the bathroom and by the time I get back, we're losing. WTF!
  12. Get your hand away from the camera, idiot!
  13. We coulda been up 28-0. We'll be lucky if we don't go into halftime tied.
  14. Tuttle time? Just can't have these mistakes.
  15. Grab. Grab. Grab. Doesn't anybody know how to tackle! Good grief.
  16. Two trips to the red zone with no points. McFadden ejected. Though we're dominating so far, this scares the crap outta me.
  17. Ouch -- McFaddon gone. That's gonna hurt.
  18. That poor Cincy lineman -- he's got to just fall on the ball. Not complaining at all, though!
  19. Two trips to the red zone with no points. Hate to be Captain Obvious -- but these are the things that come back to haunt you.
  20. I'm a gambling man by nature -- Mr. Vegas, they call me -- but at the same time, three points are better than none.
  21. Glad we're running the ball well -- cuz Penix does not look sharp at all.
  22. Traitor Sharon decided to call it quits a year early. I'm guessing the allegations of a "hostile" environment had something to do with it. Katie Gearlds takes over. I'm kinda disappointed/worried -- to tell the truth. Teri Moren owned our little sisters to the north recently. Gearlds will bring a different energy to the job.
  23. Why would Purdue take its band to Notre Dame and play at halftime anyway? Is that a tradition or something with those two? I didn't think bands typically traveled to road games.
