  1. Very first pitch the Rays threw tonight -- deposited in the right-field seats.
  2. BTW, was I the only one to notice that Chris Lemonis has Mississippi State in the CWS final?
  3. This is getting ridiculous. He's playing wiffeball while everyone else is playing baseball.
  4. I'm OK with the uniform color/style as an alternate option. Don't care for the "Bloomington" though. If we wanna do something different, why not "Hoosiers" on the front?
  5. So, it took four pitchers ... Still counts! #FlytheW
  6. We're a No. 6 seed! https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/a-resurgence-ahead-for-kentucky-duke-and-indiana-five-teams-poised-to-bounce-back-in-2021-22/?fbclid=IwAR394R6CQvAIepjP901P4cCqiuOy4OHKE1umDjVKVXpBG73seNp0bm4IxoU
  7. I was able to read the article -- and this quote from the not-so-secret meeting struck me ... Later on, there's also quote from Travis Trice talking to Gard about how the players felt a disconnect with him. I almost feel like this could've been recorded in the SSAH locker room or the Cook Hall locker room over the past couple of years! “I just feel like, coach, we don’t have a relationship,” said Nate Reuvers, a four-year starter. “In my mind, it’s too late for that. I personally don’t think or feel like you care about our future aspirations. I can’t talk to you. I just don’t want to talk to you. After this, coach, I don’t know what type of relationship we’re going to have, if we have one.”
  8. Cubs vs. Indians. Northsiders have a runner on first (Javy Baez) with one out. Rizzo flies to left. Baez, forgetting how many outs there were, is about 10 feet from third base when the ball is caught -- and is doubled off. Not that it would've made any difference, but he didn't even try to get back. After he returns to the dugout, David Ross tells him to take the rest of the night off. El Mago (the magician) disappeared. From me, a big thumbs up to Rossy. I kinda like it. IMO, can't have that from your best player. But ... I will say this for Javy. He could've just left. But after going to the clubhouse for a bit, El Mago reappeared in the dugout to back his teammates.
  9. I'm an old person. Well, if 53 is old. And I'm not all that concerned about jerseys (although I don't want any version of black -- that's what little brother to the north wears). I'm with whoever said they just want them to win again. Although with basketball, any fan should know all the players anyway, so I never thought names on jerseys were that big of a deal. Football -- with 80-plus players -- is a different story. However, if they decide to put names on basketball jerseys, I won't kick up any fuss. BTW, as one of those "old people," I've actually been around for the glory of old IU -- was a freshman when we won our last title and remember watching the 1976 and '81 teams win nattys. And watching one get away from the '93 team (damn Alan Henderson injury). How many titles have you seen, "young person?"
  10. Feeling the heat from the NCAA? Feeling the heat from the fans? Realizing his opportunities for another crack at this might be running out?
  11. OK, so I'm biased -- and I think SSAH is the best place in the B1G. But the more I see from Katz, the more I begin to wonder exactly how much he knows about the conference. This is a guy who rated Northwestern and Minnesota ahead of IU in the BIG's most scenic campuses. Hell, he had us fifth -- that's insane! This isn't the first time he's blown his nut about Mackey. I just don't get it.
  12. Crazy at-bat from the Rizz today -- 14 pitches. Ended with a bang!
  13. TBH, not sure I'd want him back. He was here, and he decided he wanted the bright lights and big city -- so to speak -- of a blueblood program. Seems to me, too, that coaching reduxes very rarely are successful.
  14. This really seems to fall under the ol' "grass is always greener" metaphor. He's an Indiana native and was in his garden spot -- but apparently, had his sights set on greener pastures. I was really bummed when he left, because of the aforementioned reasons -- Indiana guy, built the program up, was a great face of the program, helped get the Bart built. He just seemed like an IU guy. When Lemonis left, I couldn't have cared less. Wonder how the program would look had he stayed.
  15. I was just saying that all I had was a 12-inch TV. It was my TV -- and was pretty much all we had room for in our tiny little domicile. Some of these rooms have big-screen TVs. LOL! ... And during my first week of school, we didn't even have cable. We had to pool our money to have the dorm wired. Otherwise, we'd have had to rely on an antenna and would've gotten something like 3-4 channels.
  16. Where are these guys living? Those aren't dorm rooms, are they? When I went to IU (30 years ago) my dorm room -- Teter-Wissler -- was a bunk bed, a couple built-in closets (about 4 feet wide each), a couple built-in desks, and a 12-inch TV. That was about it!
  17. Well ... yeah. There would've been absolutely no reason for IU to even consider either one.
  18. "The crazy thing about it is, the kids who killed him, he would have helped those types of kids." Really nice piece by ESPN.
  19. Javy being Javy. I'm pretty sure he stole first base. Then stole second (or went there on an error).
  20. Dude hit a dinger when he was 75. Granted, it was in an old timers' game. But still ...
  21. When I saw this, it really riled me up. I was never a big fan of Andy Katz, but what the hell? ... Has he never been to Bloomington? ... And what the f--- is up with Minnesota at No. 5? That's almost as lame as Purdue's campus ... This probably doesn't belong here, but I didn't think it deserved a thread of its own. If mods want to move it or delete it, fine by me. I just thought: IU in the fall -- there's nothing better. And since fall goes with football ...
  22. A Schwarbomb in his return to Wrigley ...
  23. This is a very interesting story. At Detroit Mercy (where Mike Davis is, coincidentally), the women's coach was accused of player mistreatment and abuse. So ... they got rid of the team, not the coach. They will have an entirely new roster next season. One player wanted to stay, but was told she couldn't. She could stay at the school and be on scholarship, but would no longer be welcome on the basketball team (sorta like Jerome Hunter, I guess). Kinda bizarre ... https://www.yahoo.com/sports/detroit-mercy-womens-basketball-player-100012049.html
