Not surprising. I'm assuming Race has met with Woody. Wonder how that conversation went?

This timeless tactic rarely fails: Put it out there that you're unhappy and want to leave. Get a new contract. Why can't it work like that for me?

I'm guessing those two weeks at UNLV hold a special place in his heart!

Nice tweet from the Dookies ...

Kinda weird. The only place this news exists is on UNC's website. Wonder if people think it's an April Fool's joke?

BBall Non-Coaching Program Improvements

This isn't specific to Indiana, but I'd like to see college basketball allow players to wear jerseys with Nos. 6-9. I'm not sure, but I think the initial thought to this rule was to make it easier for a ref to call a foul. For instance, if TJD commits a foul, the ref would hold up two fingers and three fingers to signal a foul on No. 23. This is Rule 1, Section 22, Article 7, Clause b. 2 “The following numbers are legal: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 00, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, and 55. Team rosters can include 0 or 00, but not both.” To me, that seems like a tradition whose time has come and gone. Let a player wear whatever number he wants. I think I still might cap it at 55 -- I wouldn't be crazy about guys wearing no. 75 or 83 or whatever. But if a kid wants to wear No. 9 or No. 17 or No. 26, why not? If a foul is on No. 7, and everybody knows it, when the ref holds up three fingers and four fingers -- I think the chances of the foul being mistakenly assigned to No 34 are pretty much non-existent. -
No jokes about the man's name this time. Very classy move ...

Jaelynn Penn is leaving -- not a big surprise. -
Sooner or later, it's gonna happen. A kid will go from PU to IU, or vice versa. Man, that'll be something ...

He looked almost embarrassed as they were wheeling him off. Hope that's a sign he'll be OK. At first, it did not look good -- he was not moving at all.

Yikes. Ref collapsed during USC-Gonzaga game. Wasn't moving. Hope he's OK. TBS got a little too close a look for my opinion. Shoulda gone to a commercial sooner.

Just the other day, I watched the IU-UNC game from the NCAA tournament in 1984. Simmons started for us then. I wonder how his health is. I recall a few years ago watching us play Evansville when he was the coach, and not to sound harsh, but he was grossly overweight. Hope he's healthier now.

One reporter -- can't remember who it was; could've been our friend Goodman -- said a college coach told him he would never recruit a high school kid again. I can't image building and restocking your roster entirely with transfers, but as a wise man once said: You never know.

This is the son of Shareef Abdur-Rahim. I don't believe CMW ever coached Shareef, but I would guess he knows him ... Jabri was a four-star PG.

This is from the IU Student-Athlete Bill of Rights in 2014. Not exactly sure what happens, though, when a player enters the transfer portal. I don't know if this was amended after that or not. IU Athletics is also making a Four Year Scholarship Commitment to every full head count scholarship student-athlete regardless of sport entering Indiana University to ensure that they have the time needed to earn an undergraduate degree. No athletic scholarship will be reduced because of injury, illness, physical or mental condition, or on the basis of a student-athlete's ability, performance or contribution to the team's success.

That chapped my a$$, too. Dolson basically said Woodson asked him for resources to help him in adjusting to coaching college ball. Can't imagine a better resource than Thad Matta. Is Dakich butthurt because Matta got the gig and he wasn't considered -- especially since Matta's not an "IU guy?" I think he -- and we all -- should be thrilled Matta agreed to take on that role. I can't see any downside to it.
