  1. A little off-topic, but if Mike Woodson can recruit some Ali Patbergs, he'll be in great shape. Damn, I take all of this you got!
  2. It's funny. I sorta feel like IU is sort of a family member. Not in a weird, touchy-feely way, but from this standpoint. I can make fun of my school/family and in this case, express mild displeasure with the selection of our new coach, and it doesn't bother me if anybody here does, either. Because we're all hard-core fans. That's why we're here. And as much as I question this hire, it really pisses me off when these mo-fo outsiders do!!! I know -- that probably makes me a hypocrite. But I can't help it.
  3. Woody's first visit to the town coffee shop (can't say barbershop -- dude's bald). Old-time client: "I don't have a hair of a notion as to why we hired someone who's been in the pros for the past 10 years. The main point here is we don't get Armaan Franklin back playin' ball, we don't have a prayer. He switches over to Purdue, we're in big trouble." Woody: "Gentlemen, it's been real nice talkin' to ya. Good night."
  4. I don't have any doubt Woody will get more out of players than Archie did. BUT Will he actually be able to recruit players who are any good? Can he lead them to victories -- that's the bottom line?
  5. Sorry if this has been shared. I don't have time to wade through all these pages. But TJD appears to be confused by the move ...
  6. No turning back now ... Just seems that if this move were gonna happen, it should've been 8-15 years ago.
  7. Did Dolson just recently once and for all give up on Stevens -- or whomever else? Just seems that if Woody were gonna be the guy, this could've been done several days ago.
  8. To me, hiring Woody and Matta is sorta like the same thing. Don't get me wrong, as I said -- I like Thad, and he would've near the top of the list if healthy, but unless we hire a Michael Lewis or similar assistant who can be more involved than an associate AD, I don't get it. As far as I know, Matta won't be able to recruit ...
  9. Well, if Woody doesn't work out at IU ... He can always host Family Feud. Nobody would know the difference ...
  10. I like Thad Matta, and would've been fine if we hired him as HC if he were completely healthy. But I'm also very ignorant. I just don't see what bringing him on as an associate AD does.
  11. I'd be more comfortable (as if anybody gives a **** what I think) if we were able to bring in Lewis as associate head coach or top assistant. I'm know I'm preaching to the choir to many on that one ...
  12. When I see things like this, I sorta think about that crazy relative we all have. I can make fun of him, but I don't want you doing it! (By "you," I mean non-IU fans). LOL!
  13. Meh. Not sure that will resonate as much as you might think.
  14. I get what you're trying to do. But I just don't think that resonates as much as you might think.
  15. IU players in the transfer portal and potential recruits: Who's Mike Woodson?
  16. This literally could mean anything. Did he hear it from his neighbor? His wife? His dog?
  17. Do you mean Woodson with Michael Lewis or Dane Fife? No offense, but I'm not seeing how Woodson with Matta makes any sense.
  18. You are correct. I read that info wrong in a tweet. My bad. Regardless -- no buyout for Shaka. UT alums are loaded. Beard's buyout only drops by $1M in a few days. I'm surprised he's not in Austin yet -- unless he doesn't want that (or wants to come to Bloomington!).
  19. I'm surprised Beard to UT isn't a done deal yet. I realize that in a few days, his buyout drops from $4 mil to $2 M, but Shaka leaving of his own volition saves the 'Horns a buyout there. What's $2 mil to a wealthy UT alum???
  20. This was the volleyball team before its match at Illinois (not sure why they couldn't figure out a way to actually watch, but it's still kinda cool). BTW -- just for the hell of it, I looked up our volleyball record: 3-14 (Yikes!)
  21. Tom Allen: Not a splashy hire. Teri Moren: Not a splashy hire. But boy, do they get results. And they've convinced me. No need to make a huge splash. Bring on Michael Lewis!!! Maybe ... (only if the Stevens saga is finally over and only if Beard isn't interested and/or goes to Austin).
