  1. I can't speak for others -- I'm not sure I even know their language -- but even if Stevens were at IU and did this, it would bother me. I just think a coach at a major university should be above this behavior.
  2. Yep. I realize you get caught up in the heat of the moment, but to me, this just is an ugly optic. Especially for a guy who repeatedly touts his faith and Christianity. None of us are perfect, but I remember seeing this and -- it just really bothered me ... As the coach of a major university, you can't get caught up in something like this ...
  3. I'm no insider, but I'm leaking this: Wayne Tinkle of Oregon State is the man. His Beavers made Ricky Barnes and the Vols look like Buttheads today. Coming soon to Bloomington: Fountains of Wayne!!! Dude is gonna give us his all and work it hard -- check out those pits!
  4. Seems as if IUwins pretty much said the gig is up -- he ain't coming.
  5. Very doubtful that IU wants to wait till June to have a coach in place.
  6. If what we've seen over the past few minutes is true and he's staying in Boston, don't jump all over Chris and IUwins0708. They're just relaying best info they had. It appears Dolson put the full-court press on Brad -- and Ainge and the Celtics broke it. Again, if true -- we're all disappointed. No need to get snarky.
  7. This is from the Celtics play-by-play man. This could be another in the round of denials we've been warned about -- but it sure seems pretty definitive to me. Chris Beard -- you available?
  8. OSU and Oral Roberts are tied with 15 seconds or so left after ORU hit a couple foul shots. On the Buckeyes' possession, the ball never leaves Duane Washington's hands. He dribbles up, dribbles around, dribbles forward, then takes a step-back 3. Clank! ... OT Man, I hate that play. Pass the ball a time or two -- or drive and get fouled. Way, way too easy to defend.
  9. This should be such a simple transaction: Celtics fans don't want him. IU fans do. Done deal!
  10. Apparently, there's been a massive misunderstanding. It's Curt Schilling who is leaving Beantown for Bloomington.
  11. Celtics assistants. I suspect this guy is guessing one will take over if Stevens leaves.
  12. Friday -- Loyola-Chicago Saturday -- Colorado
  13. Caught the tail end of Dan Patrick talking about the IU opening on his show this morning. I just went back and listened to the whole segment. He said his "source" -- he has a lot of sources who supply varying degrees of accurate information -- told him Scott Drew wasn't coming, but that Tony Bennett and Chris Beard were on the list. Dan also said Brad Stevens wasn't coming -- but that was only based on Brad's weak denial the other day. I have to wonder about the reliability of his source, because I pretty much haven't seen Bennett's name connected to this job anywhere. And I know I'm probably a party of one, but Bennett would be my No. 1 choice -- even over Stevens. So I would have noticed. And IUwins or Chris said they had first-hand knowledge that Drew is very interested.
  14. Looks as if the chances of him coming to B-town are pretty remote -- and I would guess he was a long shot at best. And although he made millions -- and got millions more when he and OSU parted ways -- I can't help but feel for the guy. He was one of the game's top coaches until apparently, a couple botched surgeries really screwed up his back. I read a story that said at his worst, he could barely walk, and struggled to put on or take off his shoes and pants, etc. I'm also pretty sure I read he was a pretty big outdoors enthusiast -- liked to run and hike, etc., and obviously, can no longer do that. Kind of a shame, really.
  15. Indeed -- if he had anything to do with a coach leaving an NBA team for his alma mater, he'd be in deep doo-doo. I could see him getting a really, really, really big fine and suspension -- if not both -- for that. That's serious sh-t.
  16. Not until I saw the stands did I recognize Assembly Hall.
  17. The guy Pace sold the house for just signed with Buffalo ... to be a backup.
  18. Actually, PU could help with the buyout very easily: Hire Teri Moren. Her contract has a $10M buyout if the Toiletmakers hire her! But nobody wants that to happen. She's done a great job in B-town.
  19. Many have commented that the SSAH experience needs to be spruced up. So, I offer you this ... As we take the court next season, the lights go out, spotlights shine all around, the music cranks up to a 1970s rock 'n' roll song by an English band -- or the Five Finger Death Punch version if you prefer. Here are the lyrics ... A basketball team always on the run A destiny, oh it's the rising sun We were born, basketballs in our hands On the court We make our final stand, yeah That's why they call us Brad company We can't deny Brad, Brad company 'Til the day we die Until the day we die
  20. TJ Otzelberger leaves UNLV for Iowa State. Las Vegas and Slick Rick Pitino -- is there a more perfect match? LOL!
  21. This was only nine games into the season. Maybe "heavy hitters" doesn't refer to Dolson or other IUAD administrators? Just seems odd when there was still plenty of season left. Heck, I wasn't convinced we should move on until we started that final downward spiral. So what the hell do I know? LOL.
  22. I wrote this elsewhere, but I could see him taking a year off, recharging his batteries a bit and then exploring the market. If Pitt continues to flail under Jeff Capel III, maybe that's a possibility. Pitt fans love their hoops, but aren't as fanatical as we are -- that's a place where, in essence, Archie could just go coach and not worry about all the outside influences and responsibilities. Plus, Pitt is right in his backyard (he grew up about 45 minutes away) -- if that appeals to him.
  23. Being Captain Obvious here, but I'd be ecstatic with Stevens or Beard. I'd even be OK with Matta (if healthy) or Beilein -- if that's what it comes down to. But being a Bears fan for 45-plus years, I cannot help but have this fear that what just happened to them will happen in B-town. They swung for the fences (Russell Wilson) and essentially, struck out on three pitches (Andy Dalton). I don't want to see IU swing for the fences (Stevens) only to strike out on three pitches (Andy Enfield).
  24. Because I remember the Billy Donovan runaway train four years ago, I'm not getting my hopes up too much -- only because I don't want to be disappointed. Although TBH, I didn't think there was a lot of truth to that BD rumor anyway. But if -- and to me, it's still a big if -- this Sevens thing is true, I'm very curious as to how it will work ... Does he resign from the Celts and head to B-town in a matter of days? Does he accept Dolson's offer, then attempt to finish out the NBA season? Or try to finish the season? Would Danny Ainge pull a Bo Schembechler and say, "I want the Celtics to be coached by a Celtics man" and tell him to hit the bricks? If he does try to finish out the season, he would have to assemble a staff to take care of things at IU until he arrives, correct? If so, can we have faith he'll be focused enough on us to put in enough due diligence to put together a solid staff? What if he does take the job, then finishes out the season in Boston -- and the Celts go on a deep playoff run. Does he get cold feet? If there's a good chance this will happen, we won't be waiting till May or June to find out he's officially our man, will we? That just seems implausible. I believe when Pitino left Beantown for Louisville, he resigned immediately -- didn't finish the season.
  25. This, to me, has the feeling of four years ago when the Billy Donovon runaway train derailed on this site. Hope I'm wrong ... Too many unanswered questions about Stevens. I'm betting on Belien, who stays for 5-6 years and gets us back in business -- with maybe a B1G title or two and a decent couple of NCAA tourney runs. Then, when the job comes open again, we'll be much more attractive. Or perhaps he's set up with an assistant who can take over in a few years -- maybe a Michael Lewis-type. I still just have difficult time believing Stevens will come back. And if he does -- I'll be elated. But if he doesn't -- I'll be prepared.
