Watching Iowa-Wisconsin. Garza obviously is a tremendous talent. But he's big, thick and slow. He's not out of shape or blubbery, but at the same time, has no definition. I can't help but wonder if dropping 20-25 lbs. or so would help him take his game to an even higher level.

Don't know why, but Musselman wigs me out. Oats? Haven't seen enough results yet, though they're not bad so far. Plus, I think he has a monster buyout. And -- not that this should factor into it -- but I've read that Kentucky has pretty much declared him the heir apparent to Cal. -

I know I can't have my No. 1 choice (Bennett). I know my No. 2 choice is an extreme longshot (Stevens) as is No. 3 (Beard). My No. 4 option is this -- it's pretty far-fetched, too: I'd love to see Beilein take the reigns with Fife as his sidekick for 3-4 years, with Fife then assuming control. Initially, I hated the idea of Beilein, but I'm warming to it. If indications are that he wants to coach again, I'd be willing to gamble on him, despite his age. The guy is terrific at X's an O's. Meanwhile, after playing for THE B1G's best and spending a handful of years under one of the B1G's best, Fife could get additional tutelage from another master. He'd still be 44 or so when taking over and his selection would assuage those who are insistent we hire an IU guy (though I am not one of them). The thing is -- I doubt Fife would want to wait that long to again run his own program. Probably a dumb idea, but what the hell -- there are plenty of other dumb ones here. LOL! -

The "real" Steve Bradley was an IU quarterback in the mid-1980s. I think he was a three-year starter ... -

Interesting that a possible need for change could lead to a fine marriage for both -- though I still think it's an extreme long shot. The part I don't like is waiting till June and if Stevens says no, proceeding with Archie for a fifth year. I like Archie and until late in the season, I hadn't joined the "Fire Archie" clarion call. But at this point, bringing him back for another season under any circumstance is a recipe for disaster, in my opinion. I just think it's time to move on, period -- for both Archie and IU. -
Interesting: Turgeon says he's been having problems with Juwan and Michigan all season. Said he'd had enough.

Agreed. Why wait weeks to fire him -- or to make that announcement if it does happen? If there is a parting of the ways, best to do it sooner rather than later. It would be best for everyone involved. -

Dave Leitao was brought back at DePaul. I realize that's not P5 and he originally left for U.Va. -- was not fired. And he's been very mediocre since his return. At first thought, I cannot think of any other college hoops programs where coaches have had two stints. There very well may be, but I can't think of any offhand. -

TBH, I don't know much about Wes Miller or his capabilities. On the surface, his recent years at UNCG don't seem bad. But I would think it would be a very tough sell to the alumni and fan base to hire another mid-major coach -- especially one from a lesser conference than the A-10. -
Penn State -- what was that? Way, way, way, way too much dribbling.

TBH, I want no part of Scott Drew. Just seems to be something sorta sleazy about him. But as I've written before, I thought Crean and Archie were good hires and thought Allen and Moren were bad hires -- so what the hell do I know? I can't help but wonder, though: Dolson is reportedly pretty tight with RMK, who I believe butted heads with Drew when RMK was at Texas Tech. Plus, there's the Hanner Perea incident. Those seem to be two pretty big strikes against Drew. -

Hoosiers gonna go 0-2 in our home state tonight. Pretty damn pathetic. -

Four years ago with his "double-check plus" quote, Glass seemed to be calling out to Alford. I'm curious as to what happened? He said having IU ties, being from Indiana and having college head-coaching experience was what he was looking for. There's nobody else who fits that bill -- at least that I can think of. I wonder if he had in the back of his mind he was gonna pursue Alford, but got some backlash for myriad reasons -- namely, Alford's relatively average coaching record and his horrific handling of the Pierre Pierce situation? -
I heard in a podcast -- I think it was Goodman? -- that many UK fans already have anointed Oats as Cal's heir apparent.

Every time I see Bob Huggins nowadays, I think of Jeff Bridges in the "True Grit" remake -- minus the eye patch and hat, and plus about 100 pounds. I'll never forget several years back, he wore a yellow suit one afternoon while patrolling the WVU sideline. Bob Knight, then an ESPN analyst, said he looked like 300 pounds of butter.

Listening to the Dan Patrick Show today while walking my hound dog. He had Gottleib on. This was a minute or two of their conversation ... DP: How many Big Ten teams get in? DG: All of 'em. Let 'em all in. DP: Not Indiana ... Not Indiana. DG: Yeah -- Indiana's baaaad. A lot of losses late in the season. Ouch! ... And before you say "They're not wrong" or "We deserve it." ... Yes, I know that. Just further exemplifies our situation and that a change would seemingly be in the best interests of everyone.

We did that 21 years ago. Many think that's a contributing factor to our current status of mediocrity. -

From what I've read on this board, the chance that TJD returns is very, very minimal. Even if he doesn't get drafted, apparently the G League or playing overseas are more attractive options to him than coming back to school.
