  1. We did that 21 years ago. Many think that's a contributing factor to our current status of mediocrity.
  2. From what I've read on this board, the chance that TJD returns is very, very minimal. Even if he doesn't get drafted, apparently the G League or playing overseas are more attractive options to him than coming back to school.
  3. BYU up a dozen on the Zags early.
  4. I'm gonna start the Steve Fisher talk. A proven B1G winner! He's only 75. Got at least 3-4 good years left.
  5. Or most likely, with our luck, the following ... IU hires Enfield. He produces an Archie-like four seasons. Maybe we squeak into the NCAAs as a No. 10 seed in Year 3. After four years, he's 36-44 in B1G games. Meanwhile, Southern Cal hires Gates to replace Enfield. In four years, he wins two Pac-12 titles and in Year 4, reaches the Elite Eight. (Sorry, I'm just having trouble getting on board with Enfield).
  6. That was a little reminiscent of "Jones to Watford for the win ... YES! ... YES!"
  7. Right. But just a few years earlier, he had said no to UNC.
  8. Honestly, I can't remember the last time we won. I don't think it'll be Thursday evening ... State University of New Jersey 72 State University of Indiana 65
  9. Who knows? Ol' Roy left Kansas a couple days after leading them to the NCAA title game.
  10. Hoosierfan's message to the Drewster ...
  11. Was two years always TJD's plan? Or is a fractured relationship with Archie playing a big part in a decision to likely bolt? Just wondering -- say we do part ways with Archie and TJD hits it off with the new coach, any chance he stays? Don't know how far-fetched this might be -- I was just curious if this in any way was a possibility.
  12. This court in Vegas for the WCC tournament is so bizarre that it looks as if they're only using about 2/3 of the lights in the building.
  13. So I happened on a random Bleacher Report story listing the top 5 most hyped IU recruits. This is what it had. 5. Lawrence Funderburke 4. Jared Jeffries 3. Cody Zeller 2. Eric Gordon 1. Damon Bailey But that story was from 2013. Where does Romeo rank? I can easily see him at No. 2. I'm not sure anybody will ever surpass Damon, or come close, really. But I'd put Romeo second.
  14. Believe it or not, Bennett was offered an extension and raise after he won the natty. He basically said, "I'll take the extra year, but I don't need the raise. I make enough money." ... Then he pledged $500K to a career development program for current and former players. At the time, he said, "If there are ways that this can help out the athletic department, the other programs and coaches, by not tying up so much (in men’s basketball), that’s my desire.” Kinda keep waiting for something to happen to prove this guy isn't for real. Well, other than that horrible trait of averaging 65 points or so a game instead of 85 -- while winning nearly 75 percent of your games, winning league titles and an NCAA title -- in Charlottesville.
  15. From coaching at Marion and Ben Davis high schools to making nearly $5M a year running a program at a B1G school. What a journey!
  16. I'm sorta torn about Thursday. I never want us to lose, but at this point, I'm kinda ready for this miserable season to end. At the same time, I DO NOT want to lose to Rutgers three times in a season -- and want to kick their a$$ after that dunkfest to end our game there.
  17. TBH, the Archie-Wikipedia thing disappoints me. The guy wasn't a cheater like Sampson or a schmuck like Crean. He came here and worked his a$$ off -- for myriad reasons, it just didn't work out. Taking shots like that is petty and unnecessary. Fans wonder why a coach wouldn't want to come here -- that's why.
  18. They have us to thank. We had them down 15, then pooped our pants. That started their turnaround.
  19. If you're not outside enjoying a lovely Sunday afternoon, Texas Tech at Baylor -- featuring IU's next coach? (LOL) -- just tipped off on ESPN.
  20. I can see Archie and IU parting ways, but with a lessened buyout. He can't be happy and it sure seems pretty obvious that the situation is untenable. And I think he's still very hireable. At the same time, I don't think it makes him a lesser man if he insists on the full buyout. A contract is a contract -- both sides agreed to it. From my view in the cheap seats, Archie has been a pretty good employee. He hasn't embarrassed us off the court, has seemingly been a good ambassador for the program (except, obviously, the on-court record) and even gave money back to the university during the pandemic. He just hasn't won enough. Archie might not have had the greatest of results here, but I'd argue that he's a much better man than Crean and Sampson combined.
  21. Agree. If a change is made, I might not agree with the choice, but I will still support him and the team (unless it's Pearl -- LOL). I grew up in Indiana and am an IU alum, and that's not going to change. I'm not understanding all the declarations that if we hire so and so, they're not following the program anymore. Or, a declaration that one is so disgusted, they didn't watch yesterday's game. Or the Michigan game. Or they won't watch what's very likely our only B1G tourney game. If you don't want to follow the program any longer or don't have any desire to watch the games, that's fine. Don't. That's your prerogative. But coming on here -- or on a FB page -- and making such a "dramatic" announcement really isn't necessary. Frankly, it's kind of silly.
  22. Love the work, I write with a smirk. Cuz I don't agree, with all that you see. Andy's no dandy. Not liking the Viking. He's too unproven. Need to keep movin'. Though a tad on the grey, Beilein's OK. Given the strife, I'm fine with Fife. Nowhere near No. 1. But better than some. It's not all disjoints. You do have some points. A big no to Drew? I'll raise a brew. Thumbs up to Mack? From me, there's no flak. Keep status quo? A colossal no-go. Program has mange. Time for a change. As I draw to a close, a final thought to pose. While enjoying a Molson, I'm glad I'm not Dolson.
  23. Andy Enfield has one major positive (other than the wife) -- I would absolutely hate the hire. And given my track record, that might not be a bad thing. At the time ... I liked the Crean hire. I liked the Archie hire. I hated the Moren hire. I hated the Allen hire. So -- what the hell, bring on Andy Enfield.
  24. I know that. That's why I wrote there wasn't a snowball's chance he's coming here ...
