Love to see Kopp doing relatively well. He was underrated on our team. I had great seats for the nw game when we only had 6 players. Kopp was quarterbacking the defense and was intense trying to rally the team when they were tired.

Seriously, he was in the same class as Romeo who will be in his 6th year in the league this year.

I really don’t understand why people hate on the HH guys as much as they do. They truly pursued a passion, and I respect them for it. And their podcast was entertaining. I get that they did and said some questionable things, but damn it seems like some people just live to bring other people down.

The question is, would he make the list if it were expanded to the top 75? I don’t think so.

My view is that IU’s road to winning a ship would get easier.

Seems pretty minor, but at the same time how stupid can you be? I only occasionally bet on sports because in the long run you're likely going to lose money. I certainly wouldn't bet on them if my livelihood depended on me not doing so.

I think most people understand how powerful that is and are excited by the prospect of what a good/great coach could do with that pot of money. I know the Archie comparisons are driven by what has been discussed in the thread, but ultimately they aren't that relevant. Purely as a coach, I would say Woodson is squarely below average for the Power 5 level. Woody obviously will get a chance to prove what he can do this year with this squad. I'm not optimistic we will meet expectations (top 15-20 team, commensurate with where most early preseason rankings have us), but we'll see.

I also feel like he better be worth it, or I'm guessing his teammates aren't going to be too happy they're making a fraction of what he is. I can't imagine UW's NIL is $5M+.

Our NIL pool is much larger than most other schools, that is literally an objective fact. I'm not saying Archie was a better coach, but Woodson has an advantage there that Archie didn't have. That is not debatable.

Just curious why you think Newton needs to play? If Carlyle comes, I think the top 7 would be Oumar, Malik, MM, Bryson Tucker, TG, Rice, and Carlyle. I also think Cupps would generally get some minutes as a backup PG and Leal as well will see some time because he brings shooting to the table. Obviously, Newton is a major unknown, and I could be totally wrong, but not sure I see him getting much run.

I don't disagree with that, there are likely some that may come in large part due to Woodson. I just think it will be hard to say Woodson is "landing guys" when we are the highest bidder.

It was a little over top that people felt we weren't going to get any portal players. The simple reality is that we're going to be the best offer for a lot of these kids. So I'm not sure how much credit Woodson should get when we land them. I'm not saying no credit, but I also doubt many of these kids will be coming because he is the coach.

I don't think it's particularly close. ESPN is projecting them as #4 next season without projecting them to have a single returning starter.
