  1. I’m confused by the Pat Coogan reference.
  2. How is what he did at Georgia irrelevant? He had them in the Kenpom 200s which is unheard of for a power 5 team. You could hire a guy off the street who could do better than that at a power 5 program. He was already on the decline at IU and his tenure at Georgia only proved how bad it could have gotten.
  3. That would be interesting, maybe I'll do it temporarily just for this. I'd bet there isn't more than one instance of a team moving from outside the top 10 into the top 3.
  4. I was looking back to see how highly Duke was rated back in 2002, when we beat them (#1 in Kenpom including #1 in both offensive and defensive efficiency). And then I started flipping through the years. Only three times since 2002 (inclusive of 2002) has the NCAA champion finished outside the Kenpom top 3: 2003 - Syracuse (finished #8) 2011 - Connecticut (finished #10) 2014 - Connecticut (finished #15) If Kenpom includes the postseason games, then there is going to be a bit of a natural bias upward for teams that do well, but that's still pretty crazy. Just goes to show that the chances of winning a title if you're not an elite team is very low.
  5. Now we need the Sheehey dunk.
  6. I watched this for the first time recently. Alford was incredible and kept us in the game the first half...dude needed no space to get his shot off.
  7. Fully agree on Mgbako, you either add to the culture or you take away from it, and it's pretty clear where he falls on that ledger. And along those lines, I would want Cupps back - everything I've heard is that he goes hard all the time at practice. Genuinely curious, why you think you might want Kanaan back? I don't know what he's making in NIL but I bet it's 500k+. I think if he wanted to come back, it would have to be for significantly less. If he wants to test the market, go for it.
  8. Yes for the purposes of my post, I was defining the start of the "official process" as when he gets fired as I'm pretty certain that was the intent of her post. Cathy has been steadfast in saying that MW won't be fired before the end of the season. Other posters have said that it is much more likely to happen during the season. No it doesn't prove anything if he doesn't get fired til the end of the season, but it adds a lot more weight to what she has been saying. And she is taking an official position whereas others are hedging their bets saying things are fluid. That's not a knock on anyone else with info (please continue to post everything you hear), but she has planted a flag with an official prediction. I quite honestly don't understand the vitriol towards her as it feels a lot like shooting the messenger. But if she's wrong, then by all means blast away.
  9. If the process does indeed start in 6 weeks (after the season ends), I'd venture to guess she knows more than people want to admit.
  10. I think you need to relisten to the first three minutes, to me it was very much about Goode. He should get platitudes for doing that and instead Dakich is sniping him.
  11. I mean as obvious as it is to us fans how in over his head MW is, can you imagine how much more obvious it is to coaches with a more in-depth knowledge of the game? They must be in utter disbelief watching game tape.
  12. Exactly, we'll get a big unexpected win and he'll start eviscerating the fans.
  13. I think Ya would be a better choice if we actually wanted to do well the rest of the way. If Kenya had the chops to be a head coach, he would be one by now. And how many years has he been an asisstant at IU? He has a cushy gig that pays him well so he doesn't rock the boat and is probably mimic'ing Woody from an effort level at this point simply because he can.
  14. His seat is not even lukewarm nor should it be.
  15. Exactly. I don't care if Donna who likes Woodson because she went to school with him 45 years ago and watches 2 games year would think he got a raw deal. And how could any of the pundits defend him at this point? Here's a preseason ranking that had us 18th, based on the sheer amount of talent we were bringing in. Now we're at or outside the top 60 in both Kenpom and Net, despite probably being top 5 in NIL spent. We're an extremely mediocre basketball team that is not improving and having off the court issues which call into quesiton how focused/locked in these players are. If pundits want to defend him, then I would question whether they have ulterior motives. 2024-25 preseason top 25 men's college basketball rankings - ESPN (To be clear, I'm quoting you and agreeing with your sentiments)
  16. Dear lord, senior night. Are we going to have to hear from Leal and Galloway again?
  17. What “optics”? You have NW students creating signs for us to keep Woodson. Anyone that follows college basketball at all thinks Woodson is an awful coach. And I don’t see anyone in the media defending him. Who are the optics police? Honestly, who would even bat an eye at this point if we fired him?
  18. I have the sense that the players wouldn't be game for the culture shock that would be coming their way. I talked to Hulls two summers at a golf event ago before last season started, and he said the intensity of practices had materially increased with additions of Gabe and Payton Sparks (not sure what that says about TJD and Kopp's last year). Both of those guys are gone/not playing, so I would imagine the current guys aren't being challenged all that much from an intensity perspective. A lot of speculation on my part, but I would bet it's true.
  19. I live in Chicago and would normally always go to this game. But I can't bring myself to spend money watching this team. (after dropping $800 to watch IU in playoffs haha) I'll be curious as to the fan split tonight and whether I'm an anomaly or the norm.
  20. We passed that about 30k posts ago.
  21. The circumstances are different now though. Last year at least the argument could be made that all Woody needed was his guys. Well he got them, and the team is massively underachieving. Students and fans have all turned, and it’s just going to get worse. There’s no logical argument to keep him. The administration’s hand will be forced. And rich people generally don’t get rich by being dumb. They ponied up the cash for this year’s team because they thought it would work. It didn’t and they won’t again for this coach. All this “woe is me” he could still get a 5th year is pointless. It’s not going to happen.
  22. It would also help if every loss wasn’t by a million points.
  23. You can't hire him, institute a zero tolerance policy, and then be surprised when he continues to do what he's always done. Do what you can to minimize it (e.g., give him a full-time driver) and keep it out of the public. A zero tolerance policy would do more harm than good because then you have to enforce it when he inevitably screws up. I'd also be inclined to hire him, but that could change if I learned the severity of the alcoholism / domestic abuse is worse than what we know.
  24. I'm sorry but Galloway is a huge part of the problem. No leadership and hasn't improved at all in the last couple of years. He's phoning it in like everyone else.
  25. Why? Because you disagree with her? I don’t agree with her a lot of the time, but she’s respectful and courteous.
