  1. Which is why I said he may still get the full amount and that the situation was apples to oranges. Either way, if he said the words "I quit" it was very dumb.
  2. If he actually uttered the words "I quit", that definitely wasn't smart on his part. Not saying he won't get the full amount remaining but he would have less leverage. I once left a job and told one of the managing directors I was leaving for a new job in a few weeks. Two days later, they let everyone in my division go and paid everyone severances. Guess who didn't get a severance? I know the situation is totally apples to oranges but from a legal perspective, how you leave matters.
  3. That would be insanely stupid if true. Pretty sure he would lose quite a bit of leverage in the buyout negotiation if he did indeed quit.
  4. Pretty sure the forced retirement will include him getting the rest of the money in his contract but only if he agrees not to bring any sort of legal action.
  5. Death, taxes, and Houston finishing in the top 5 in Kenpom. Who knows what would have happened last year if Shead hadn't gotten hurt in the tourney.
  6. Absolutely, and I don't know enough about it to get into the intricacies of those levels. I just don't think there is a magic pill we can take and pretend like nothing happened.
  7. I find the old "these people are the same people" argument to be funny, as it is almost always pure speculation. I don't think there is much debate on whether he put hands on his girlfriend. It's not a rush to judgment, it happened, according to her own words and physical evidence. The fact that his girlfriend subsequently dropped the charges doesn't change that. I'm not saying we can't hire him, but let's not stick our head in the sand while we do it.
  8. They are 364th out of 364 teams in adjusted tempo on Kenpom, and his system doesn't emphasize 3 pointers. It's just not a modern offense While his teams may be very disciplined (i.e., the tempo is due to working the ball around until they get a great shot), I don't see elite athletes wanting to play here with him as the coach. We could be a very good team with him, but it won't be fun to watch and I doubt we would ever have the horses to truly compete for a ship. Edit: I also think it would take time to institute his system, leading to yet a few more rough years. I know he is doing well at Drake but he has a lot of roster continuity, especially in his starting 5.
  9. I see McCollum as having a high floor but a low ceiling. I don't think elite talent is going to want to play in that system. We would be much better than we are now, but I' don't think he would put us in a position to win championships.
  10. I'm with Stuhoo here, couldn't disagree with you more. The media picked us to do very well because of the tremendous amount of talent that would be on the team. You could make the argument that many of these players, who had played very well previously, are not actually good. However, Occam's Razor would say that the most likely explanation is that poor coaching is reducing the effectiveness of the talent. Seeing transfers succeed at other places only reinforces that notion.
  11. Well at least we’re better than Wisconsin’s 3rd string.
  12. Losing by 15 and Myles Rice flings an underarm bounce pass like he’s playing at the YMCA. Can’t make it up.
  13. Galloway may possess a high basketball IQ but he sure chooses not to exercise it quite a lot of the time.
  14. I don't think that's true at all. If you start a thread like that in his first year, I think you'll be the one of the few people posting in it. Why would you care how much money he makes?
  15. I’m sorry, but isn’t this an obvious statement? How else does one project except based on performance to date? Predicting future performance would rely on many more assumptions.
  16. I’m confused by the Pat Coogan reference.
  17. How is what he did at Georgia irrelevant? He had them in the Kenpom 200s which is unheard of for a power 5 team. You could hire a guy off the street who could do better than that at a power 5 program. He was already on the decline at IU and his tenure at Georgia only proved how bad it could have gotten.
  18. That would be interesting, maybe I'll do it temporarily just for this. I'd bet there isn't more than one instance of a team moving from outside the top 10 into the top 3.
  19. I was looking back to see how highly Duke was rated back in 2002, when we beat them (#1 in Kenpom including #1 in both offensive and defensive efficiency). And then I started flipping through the years. Only three times since 2002 (inclusive of 2002) has the NCAA champion finished outside the Kenpom top 3: 2003 - Syracuse (finished #8) 2011 - Connecticut (finished #10) 2014 - Connecticut (finished #15) If Kenpom includes the postseason games, then there is going to be a bit of a natural bias upward for teams that do well, but that's still pretty crazy. Just goes to show that the chances of winning a title if you're not an elite team is very low.
  20. Now we need the Sheehey dunk.
  21. I watched this for the first time recently. Alford was incredible and kept us in the game the first half...dude needed no space to get his shot off.
  22. Fully agree on Mgbako, you either add to the culture or you take away from it, and it's pretty clear where he falls on that ledger. And along those lines, I would want Cupps back - everything I've heard is that he goes hard all the time at practice. Genuinely curious, why you think you might want Kanaan back? I don't know what he's making in NIL but I bet it's 500k+. I think if he wanted to come back, it would have to be for significantly less. If he wants to test the market, go for it.
  23. Yes for the purposes of my post, I was defining the start of the "official process" as when he gets fired as I'm pretty certain that was the intent of her post. Cathy has been steadfast in saying that MW won't be fired before the end of the season. Other posters have said that it is much more likely to happen during the season. No it doesn't prove anything if he doesn't get fired til the end of the season, but it adds a lot more weight to what she has been saying. And she is taking an official position whereas others are hedging their bets saying things are fluid. That's not a knock on anyone else with info (please continue to post everything you hear), but she has planted a flag with an official prediction. I quite honestly don't understand the vitriol towards her as it feels a lot like shooting the messenger. But if she's wrong, then by all means blast away.
  24. If the process does indeed start in 6 weeks (after the season ends), I'd venture to guess she knows more than people want to admit.
