  1. Based on just what we know from the stats above, my hypothesis is that that isn't true.. Everyone can't index towards playing older players as it's ultimately close to a zero game by age group across all D1 schools. (I guess more kids could be pushed towards juco/DII out of college, but I bet it's not a material number). If high majors are indexing more towards older players, I would expect to see a relative talent infusion of freshmen at mid-major and low-major ranks (compared to what they would have gotten in the past) and see their PPG numbers be higher than power 5, not lower.
  2. AP Top 25 poll reactions: Oklahoma overrated, Clemson underrated in preseason college football rankings - CBSSports.com Pretty lazy take here IMO. Doesn't really account for the quality pieces we have coming back or Cignetti's track record with transfer QBs. Plus, his last point on our schedule doesn't make any sense for several reasons. 1) We're not ranked in a spot that would imply we're going to make the playoffs 2) What does our schedule have anything to do with whether or not we're underrated or overrated vs. our AP ranking?
  3. Both Wilkerson and Devries with 0 points at half is a bit shocking.
  4. Normal I can definitely get on board with, and I'd agree we haven't had that since Sampson. However, I can't get on board with boring. Archie Miller was boring. However, I don't think D-Rock (as per Prince AM) is anywhere near boring.
  5. I mean it's his agent saying that haha, would take it with a grain of salt.
  6. Both parents having gone to IU has to help.
  7. I also saw them practicing boxing out, what a novel concept!!
  8. Reading between the lines on some comments from Hulls when I met him a few years ago, I don't think Woodson practices were especially intense.
  9. I do think that this being Devries first year and having to replace a whole team maybe got him a bit bigger slice of the pie than he might have otherwise. But if I'm Dolson, I'm telling Cignetti that in the future it will be allocated based on who is proving they can get bang for the buck. You can pay $2.8M for Lamar Wilkerson, but he better be a stud.
  10. Trying to operationalize who is a loyal fan and make adjustments for them would be a complete nightmare IMO. What would constitute special treatment? 5 years? 10 years? 15 years? Then the people who don't make the cut-off are pissed. Do they get a discounted price? For how long? Trying to deal with all of that would be a major headache and ultimately a drag on revenue for a successful team.
  11. I don't think bison are tame enough to trot out onto a field. They also hate being alone. Clearly I'm a bison expert after some googling today.
  12. Woodson didn't help him to be sure, but in my opinion he just doesn't have it mentally. He'll have some great games, but I think he'll always continue to have disappearing acts. And I doubt his defense will ever even be average. There's a reason he was so far down in the transfer rankings.
  13. I honestly don't agree. He looks to be a 1"-1.5" taller than Dorn, which would agree with measurements mas o menos. Someone mentioned CDD is 6"4, looks more like 6"2 (which my 5"9 self would take in a heartbeat).
  14. Ultimately it is all about production on a basketball court for Indiana University. Whether or not you can produce on a basketball court today determines where your floor is. If you are defining it differently, then this is a pointless argument. Tijan Jobe and Bawa Muniru were both 7 footers. They had low floors because their basketball skillsets were basically non-existent.
  15. Because it took him several years to get there and there was no guarantee he would develop. You can't take the stats after several years of development and say that it proves his floor was high, it makes literally zero logical sense. His floor was where he came in at, which was a very low level.
  16. Seriously, he's easily the most condescending poster on the board who just "lol"s at everyone he disagrees with.
  17. In his sophomore year, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Those aren't high floor stats, they are low floor stats. How would you define a low floor in a way that's not completely subjective? It can't be someone without skills or physical traits because they aren't in the consideration set, they're sitting in an office making powerpoints.
  18. You just proved that you don't understand the concept. Ultimately skills can be developed while height and athleticism cannot. You can plot physical traits and basketball skills on a 2x2. You can only get into the top right quadrant if you have both. He is a high ceiling prospect because he can actually get into the top right quadrant by developing skills since he already has the physical traits. But right now his level of basketball skills is low and if they don't improve, he won't contribute. But just having physical traits doesn't give you a high floor, because you need skills to contribute meaningfully. Hanner Perea was the poster boy for this concept.
  19. Do you not understand the floor/ceiling concept? This guy may have a high ceiling, but he's basically the definition of a low floor prospect because he doesn't have a lot of skills. If he doesn't improve much from where he's currently at, he won't be a major contributor - hence a low floor. If he improves a lot, he has a high ceiling due to height and athleticism.
  20. There is no way to know what this guy's floor is at this point. Maybe what you describe is the floor for next year, or maybe he never gets off the bench because he's not good enough to play at this level. I think it's much easier to feel comfortable with "adding guys to the end of the bench" when you're confident about the front of the bench. I'm not saying we don't get there, but I don't think it's unreasonable to be underwhelmed with this offer.
  21. I mean I understand his response is a bit passive aggressive, but I can't say I disagree with the sentiment. The stat line is not super impressive for a JUCO, and I watched two minutes of his highlight video from last year and a three-foot left hook and a step-through are the only non dunks/lay-ups. Maybe this guy has some upside but the floor is also low. Emeka Opurum - Butler CC - 2024-25 JUCO Highlights
  22. He's already earning $8.5M a year...not sure how much more Uconn could pay him.
  23. I'm not overly worried and don't think the sky is falling, but I do think it's a valid point. I think there are a select number of guys that assistant coaches are going to go out of their way to join their staff. At least at this point, it doesn't look like CDD is one of those guys. That's OK, there aren't many of those types of coaches, but it makes everything harder.
  24. Honestly, what possible reason do you have to not be a fan of that story? Just don't like seeing other people's joy?
  25. If Woodson hadn't been such a moron early in the year we wouldn't have looked so terrible with the predictive analytics (Net, Kenpom). It's his own fault.
