Prediction League (Game 10 - Louisville 12/8/18)
bigrod replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
2:30 Saturday game... I think the crowd is going to have them pumped for this one. I think they play closer to the Marquette game than they have been and win by at least 10. -
I'm pretty sure my daughter has learned her library of "words and phrases she's not allowed to say at school" from being within earshot of me while watching IU games.

Totally get what you are saying, but I guess I'm willing to give it some time. I don't like seeing the lack of effort, and I don't like using the injuries as an excuse, but that has to play a role. This is early December, so there are 3-4 long months left to teams to improve, level out, or lose steam. With such a young team, I like our chances of guys learning to play at this level and making some good strides in that time.

It's hard to look at where they are right now and project the improvement over the season. I guess I'm hoping we see the same kind of improvement over the next month or six weeks that we saw last year. If the young guys start getting a better grasp of the concepts, I think we could be a pretty dangerous team by the time league play is in the critical stages. All that wordiness is my way of saying that I hope you are underestimating their trajectory.

I really can't remember the source, but even before he had committed to IU, I had heard somewhere that Romeo wanted to play college ball for two years. I agree it's a long shot, but doesn't seem out of the realm of possibilities. -

In my opinion, it's just the way football is. I don't trust any verbals in football. -
But what did you get if you would have won?

So what's the deal with the jerseys?
bigrod replied to 7th & Bryan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I personally don't think they look as terrible as most. If I stuck with tradition, I'd be wearing bell bottoms and platform shoes like all the cool kids did when I was in grade school. Seems like we want to compare our uniforms to Duke's, and then talk about tradition in the same breath. Duke changes up their uniforms quite a bit. I personally don't see an issue with keeping the traditional look as the main uniform, but also having others to mix in. -

So you're saying there's a chance??? -
I don't think Arch is not the right guy at all, but it doesn't mean we can't talk about some disturbing trends. In my opinion, the program we most want to emulate is Villanova. It will take time to build that kind of foundation, If you look at what Wright has done, he didn't have immediate sustained success.

These are my concerns: The 3 point and overall shooting percentage trend since CAM has taken over. Now we can't finish at the basket either. The foul shooting trend since CAM has taken over. (Not encouraging if you look at his Dayton teams either.) The constant lazy passes and turnover trend. Why are Forrester and Moore not even able to offer a couple minutes for others to rest? The tentative play every time a team applies some pressure. Why so many injuries? Are we too concerned about bulking guys up? I've been a fan of CAM and I was one of those who thought he was a great hire. However, these trends are disturbing. He had nothing last night. I was not expecting a win, but largely, they didn't even show up.

If he was a Duke lean, he'd be in the ACC Network's... I mean ESPN's top 15. -

Sad but true... Speaking of sad - what was the deal with all the air-balls yesterday? The free throw air-ball only got about half-way to the rim! -

Huh... Somehow Vandy was left off. -
THIS is the root of the problem. They simply do not care as long as the $$ keeps rolling in.

I definitely want to win with integrity. Maybe I'm naive, but I still think it can be done, although it is much more difficult. Hoping for the playing field to level out is most likely a pipe dream as long as the NCAA is running the show. They've shown their true colors time after time. Their view is clouded by $$ and they will do nothing to anyone who is making them lots of it. -
Tom Pritchard is the only one I remember.
-
With conferences making their own TV deals, etc., I can't be the only one who doesn't really understand the reason for the NCAA to exist. At one time, I was naive enough to believe it was to keep everyone honest. Now they actually promote the opposite. They are just milking the cash cow as long as they possibly can at this point.
