I'm so tired of listening to his BS after games. A really bad team just took us to triple OT at home, and he's never been more proud. Do us all a favor: put in your resignation on that high note. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

The injuries are part of the problem. It's one of the biggest reasons programs have trainers: to train players correctly to limit injuries. While it's true that not all can be prevented, it's also true that they are more significant for us year after year than most other programs. While our training may make us great for the "All Airport Team," I'm not sure that it is making us better basketball players. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Exactly. We know what we have in this coach. He is schizophrenic, so his teams are as well. Every year is the same and the talking heads act like it's a new thing: "Wow, this team really seems to have a problem with turnovers/defense/chemistry/leadership/road games." Can someone tell me how Blackmon can turn in that kind of effort and play 33 minutes??? When the coach accepts mediocrity, the team will willingly provide it. Make this Groundhog Day broken record stop. Every year it's a crapshoot that ends with a sweet 16 on good years. We know what we have. We know what we will continue to get. I'm thankful for Crean getting us back to this point, but this is as good as it gets under him. C'mon Fred... You have to see that! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Glass will only extend him if he sees the program moving in the right direction. It isn't. This is the best we will be under our schizophrenic coach. He has shown he can't handle any kind of success. It goes to his head and he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and won't listen to anyone. If the coach accepts turnovers, poor defense, poor offensive movement, and unintelligent play, the team will readily accept it. Like it or not, the history is there. The same faults show themselves every year. Like it or not, his teams are a direct reflection of him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

You know what really bothers me the most about all of that? It's not going to change. Every year since he has been here, the talking heads bring up turnovers and lack of defense like it's a new thing. This is what we are. Crean is really good at player development. He is really good at giving players the tools to better themselves. Where he fails is getting them to improve as a team. He is basically a really good assistant coach who happens to have a head coaching job. Unfortunately, he isn't a good enough recruiter to get the players he needs to make that kind of system work in college. Quite frankly, I think most IU fans want a coach who really understands the game and its nuances, and makes a deep run every few years. We know what we have in Crean. It's not changing. This is IU. Now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I didn't get to see the game, but listening to Fischer on the podcast try to put a positive spin on the game. I'm pretty amused with his take on Blackmon. Fischer said it was their best defensive game, and they gave up 75. Do you ever notice that anyone talking about Blackmon only mentions his offense and not how many points he is giving up? He absolutely kills us defensively. I seriously think opposing coaches tell their team to get the ball to whoever he is supposed to be guarding. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

If it is true that a team takes on the personality of its coach, well... enough said. What frustrates me is all the little things that Crean has let slide since he has been here. The times that bigs are bringing the ball down and it gets stolen, the times that the ball is passed to a person in a terrible spot and it gets stolen, our lack of ability to consistently feed the post, lack of a real plan on defense... all these things add up at the end of a game to be the tipping point when you aren't playing a team ranked in the 300's. I went to the game last night. The team seemed totally unprepared. Crean does nothing to help them when they are struggling because he doesn't know how to adjust when the other team is taking away what they want to do. Adding to my frustration was that some of the players seemed more interested in waving their arms up and down to get the crowd going than actually playing. But the final straw was when Crean started doing the same. The guy is clearly in over his head. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That wouldn't happen. The draw for that event is IU. Even the Purdue ND game had a lot of empty seats. No way they are playing 5 games with a half empty arena in all but one or two. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

The frustrating thing for me about this game, regardless of the what the talking heads are saying, is not losing to Butler. They are a good team. It's that I know we should not have lost that game. We have the talent to beat that team, if it was utilized correctly. I never felt like Butler was a better team than IU. I did, however, feel that they were better coached and more fundamentally sound than us for most of the game. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

He is trying to bring fatigue to the game. Haven't you heard? That was another of his stock answers for awhile. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

His answer is to keep substituting until something works. If that doesn't work, it just wasn't our night. Even then, certain players are allowed to stink up the floor for a whole half (JN), while others get pulled after a few minutes (DD). What is he saving DD for? Let him get some minutes! He needs more time with Bryant on the floor. While we're at it, I'm also tired of trying to force 6-8 guys to play the point because he thinks it's cute. Couldn't agree more. We always get these theme answers from Crean. It's always about effort and never about the technical reasons we were getting beat over and over on offense. Freshmen were playing like freshmen and sophomores were playing like sophomores. Those aren't real reasons. I like Crean. He's a great teacher of concepts and a great motivator (most of the time). Where he falls short is understanding strategic and technical aspects of the game and how to help his players when things aren't going as planned. Players aren't robots and have off nights. That is where the coach has to adjust and figure out what will work better. If a team is taking something away, how do we counter? To me, that is what separates the really great coaches. For that reason, as you said, the winning part is flawed. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
