  1. I remember a long period of time when I had never seen Wisconsin beat IU. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. My expectations as well. We've won two in a row against two bad teams. Doesn't mean much has changed. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. Honestly, I don't find this odd at all. This is Tom Crean. This is his MO. He can rally his teams to play their best when they are the underdog and it looks like they can't win (Kansas and UNC). Unfortunately, he can't be the Alpha Dog. He can't motivate on games they are supposed to win or expected to win, like this season. With the possible exception of Cody and Victor's last season, every year they were expected to do well, they have not. Remember how good everyone said they were going to be the year Vonleh played? They were terrible, but better than this year when they were ranked as high as 3. So now that no one expects anything from them, Crean is able to motivate. I've said several times, he doesn't know how to handle success. I don't know if he gets a big head and thinks he's as smart as he has the national media thinking he is, or what. How in the heck did these guys play as well as they did last night without OG??? I thought that was the reason the season tanked! Isn't that what all the experts said? 5. Not saying he wouldn't, just that it's an unknown. Just don't know how much he would appeal to recruits on a larger stage. I think he's an excellent coach, but I also think a guy like Holtmann might be very successful for a long run too. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. I like him, just wish he was a little younger. Like a lot on here, I'm concerned about how well he will recruit. If we have a nice run with him for 10 years and he makes it a destination job for the next guy, that's about all we can ask for. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Just read the SI article that said we would be stupid to fire one of the smartest coaches in basketball. Wow. Just wow. That guy needs fired too! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. At the very least, this is all highly entertaining! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Legally, it's probably just Crean and his boss(es) and maybe agent. Other than that, it would be whoever that group informed. Select few really know anything. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. Quite honestly, his whole tenure here is unprecedented. How many coaches win one season and lose the next, just to win again, and then lay a dud the next with a more talented team? His teams match his personality. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. The problem is that coaching, while extremely important, isn't the whole battle. You have to have a plan for how you are going to build the program. Aside from Crean's on court decisions, I think his helter skelter approach in this aspect has really done him in. The constant oversigning and offering 15 kids for 3 schollys just looked like he really had no plan at all. He may have been a great ambassador for the program, but it really seemed that he had no clue on how to sustain success. This is where we have to depend on Glass in the interview process, which is a bit concerning... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. Yeah, but can he understand the analytics??? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Totally agree. I'm not sold on his training program either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. I'll be happy with Donovan, but I'm not so sure he is my top choice. I really like Archie. I think he is a great young coach who would build us back up to where we should be. My next choice is probably a toss up between Bennett and Donovan. I like Marshall, but I just think he is too old to bring in. I really don't want to hire another coach in ten years (unless Stevens would be ready to come back). Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. Especially when you are engaged in being a leader and getting lots of deflections. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. For me, it's the quantity and consistency. Yes, some had previous injuries, but look at the ones throughout the year. Johnson wasn't able to play against NC the last game of last year, OG missed time before his ACL, and Morgan is missing time for other injuries than his shoulder. Vonleh missed several games too. It seems that it is rare to be at full strength under Crean. Players are always in walking boots. Or maybe that's just Crean making excuses. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. He's the trainer you see running around chest bumping the players all the time. Seems like a great guy, but I'm not convinced his training methods help a basketball team given our consistent injuries. That and the fact the Tommy has to try to constantly anticipate when the players will "hit the wall" to satisfy his frenetic need to substitute. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. Basically every generality that he used that meant absolutely nothing. I'm surprised he never said anything about chopping wood. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. Yeah, let's not do that again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. Seriously, what would change next year. Our biggest need is a playmaking PG, and Tommy has failed yet again to bring one in. His positionless system needs a position player, and either his ego, or his ability, or both have failed us yet again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  21. Hilarious! My sentiments exactly! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. Totally agree! He's better, but I'm not convinced it's a lot better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. When you say "struggle," does that mean a 5-13 B1G record? Because I think he would do better than that with our talent. A lot better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. You mean like, "Please welcome the next coach of Indiana University... Buzz Williams!" Just threw up in my mouth. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. Exactly. I give him a ton of credit for getting us out of the mess Sampson left, but we know what we have now. I wish him well, except if we see him in the tournament! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
