  1. Maybe some others can expand on this, but the rumors I have seen have to do with mandating how he is allowed discipline the team and how he can talk to the team, etc. I personally have no idea if any of this is true. I think there was also stuff about not allowing him to remove anyone, but that could have been more because of the mess Crean left.
  2. I think we have a long way to go before we say we are no better than last year. Having said that, I too am tired of seeing some things that are consistent issues every year. This is kind of where we are though. I do think the administration is not doing the coach any favors, but it does seem to be a tough argument when the football team has the same administration, and they have managed to build on success year after year. Maybe I'm being over simplistic. There is no way I would say the writing is on the wall though. I don't see a change made after this year unless it just totally falls apart. As much as I want to see the basketball team return to the elite status, I don't think I want a change made at this point. What coach would want to come here knowing they have 3-4 years or they are out? I'm afraid we have to see a few more years of mediocrity before a change is made. Or better yet, maybe we start seeing him build on success and its a moot point.
  3. We have the All Airport team. Can't remember if that was Vitale or McGuire that used to say that.
  4. I agree. Tons of talent and physical ability, but I couldn't ever figure out if he over-thought everything or didn't think enough. Much of the time he (mentally) seemed to be somewhere else.
  5. I think the rule is a year out of HS.
  6. I didn't really understand the move to get rid of the OL coach who had them playing really well 2 years ago.
  7. No, I'm getting it too.
  8. I sincerely wish him the best, but the things he said he was excited about in their style of play, don't really strike me as his strengths. I guess it depends on how you look at it, but I felt like we played played him at the wing to the detriment of the team in some ways. He never developed a handle or shot that allowed him to pull his defender away from the paint. But, maybe a new coach can get him to play with a passion and desire that we rarely saw during his three years in Bloomington.
  9. Hard for the filter to catch the creative use of compound curse words
  10. Mine is the "81 Championship game against NC. I was staying at my cousin's house to watch the game with him. I have pretty vivid memories of that day with the President being shot earlier in the day.
  11. Why did he say, "Nearly 10?"
  12. Nice to go out undefeated for a change.
  13. Exactly. They've never been wrong before. (also sarcasm)
  14. That's funny. I can't stand that piped in laughter. I'm just thinking of a guy sitting there with different applause noises and he has to quickly decide if this was a highlight so that he can nail the correct applause level.
  15. I was thinking the same thing about the players. I wonder how many of those exchanges will be audible.
  16. So, if we lose the first game in the BTT, do we make it? I doubt it. Not convinced we make it if we go 1-1. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
  17. Tired of seeing us get beat on our own floor. We used to have an advantage. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
  18. This game is a microcosm of the season. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
  19. Yeah, I'm not confident either. We haven't shown that we are a very mentally resilient team, so I'm concerned that since we beat them there, we will come in with the wrong mindset. Plus, they may think they are playing for their coach's job. And then, I look at yesterday's game results...
  20. I guess they have to scrap, "You complete me."
  21. I thought I read somewhere that we hit a new all-time low for points per possession on Kenpom. Anyone know if that's true?
  22. I hope you're right about Leal.
  23. I agree. I like Durham, and he has improved probably more than any other player during this period at IU, but he is coming off the bench on most B1G teams. THe jury is still out on Phinisee though. He's a sophomore. Not sure we can conclude he has reached his peak.
  24. No team is totally healthy at this time of the season. Almost all teams have injuries they deal with throughout the season.
