If college basketball programs were countries
rebelhoosier848891 replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Good hunting tonight Queen O! A little close for comfort--but all the badger traps are now full. The knights will fetch the hides. The peasants will have a warmer winter with the coats they can make from all those Badger pelts! The knights will defang the remaining badgers and make necklaces out of their teeth. Speaking of teeth---let's get ready for BUCKY! -
Tuesday Night National Game
rebelhoosier848891 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It was a struggle for us on National TV tonight but I am so glad we won on the night we were honoring the 1976 team. Can't beat perfection! It was great to see so many of those 76 guys put aside their differences with IU and show up. The way it should be. Once a Hoosier---Always a Hoosier! -
OG Anonuby MAJOR Sleeper:
rebelhoosier848891 replied to HoosierTrav's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have always been on the OG bandwagon too. You can tell he is not afraid of the big stage. I am not ready to call him a starter yet--but I am ready to get him more minutes. He is averaging double figures in our 3 Big Ten games as a freshman just a little behind Bryant. Now---that's saying something. So glad he said NO to Iowa! -
Indiana v. Wisconsin postgame thread
rebelhoosier848891 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Late to the party with some post-game thoughts... First---we showed toughness once again which I was waiting to see earlier in the year and which seemed to start with the Notre Dame game. If we play hard---even on a night like tonight when we are not hitting our shots----we can still gut out a win. It's only been 3 games without JBJ and I was often one of his biggest critics because of his defensive lapses---but we definitely miss him on offense. RoJo has been off all 3 games and Z3 to an extent as they become more of a focal point for defenses. I now realize Blackmon's full value at spacing the floor to open up other shooters. He is a big loss but honestly we are now going to be better defensively and we will have to focus more on that side of the ball. It may not be popular to say---but I will say it anyway---we used to have 2 starters in JBJ and Troy who had big defensive lapses. Now we only have one. Troy has improved some and I hope he will continue to improve on D. His rebounding has been much better this year and even tonight on an off night for him he still grabbed several boards. Tonight belonged to Yogi and the freshmen. Yogi did his thing and took over when we needed him. The freshmen all did some outstanding things. OG and TB were both in double figures and had the best shooting percentages on the team. Juwan blocked shots and played good D. OG is going to be something. He was 3 for 3 from 3 tonight. He is now averaging 10 points and 4 rebounds a game in Big Ten play in limited minutes. He's a keeper. Prediction--all 3 freshmen are only going to get better throughout the year. We were much better defensively. We held one of the nation's top 80 offenses in the 50's and only allowed 41% shooting. I loved seeing another team finally go scoreless against our defense for several minutes in a row and have shot clock violations. The drives to the hole for lay-ups were greatly reduced. We still have a turnover problem. 19 is too many and Yogi and RoJo with 5 each is not good. We get that cleaned up and we will be even better. Overall--I am happy. 13-3 and 3-0 in the Big Ten is a good start. An ugly win is better then an ugly loss any day of the week! Let's build on it. Last thought---it's only fitting that we won tonight in honor of the 1976 unbeaten team. I like to look at it this way---IU still hasn't lost when the 1976 team is all together on the floor in The Hall! Go Hoosiers! -
Always a great night when IU wins and Kensucky loses! Go Hoosiers!

Watch out for Rebel! Up to 11th. Beware: Objects in your mirror may be closer then they appear! -
Agree---Hova. IU's offense drives me crazy sometimes but OU just stood around and chucked it up from 3 and still hung in there.

What's the going price for Badger pelts this time of year????? LOL. Viva La Francais! Viva La IU! -
Crud. Jayhawks survive in triple OT 109-106. Great show! Wild day---including the Virginia loss.
-
Come on Sooners! One more chance----give it to Buddy and get out of the way! 107-106 Kansas in triple overtime with 7 secs left. OU ball.
-
OU going for the upset. Fearless.
-
I really don't like either team--but THIS IS FUN!.

Indiana @ Nebraska - Post-game thread - 1/2
rebelhoosier848891 replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We are in a good spot. But we have to start hitting our freethrows---especially on the road. 14/23 is not going to get you many wins in the Big Ten. We were fortunate Nebraska was as bad as we were from the line today. -
UK and Duke win big today. Notre Dame falls to Virginia. Maryland still up big over Northwestern 40-20 at half (Diamond Stone with 8 points)

12-3 and 2-0 in the Big is a great place to be. I expected us to be much better then we are playing but honestly expected losses against Kansas (in Maui) and Duke (at Cameron) so I expected us to be 13-2 and 2-0 at this point. We are still in reach of all goals and even though we are winning ugly---we are still winning. Defense is SLOWLY improving and our schedule is favorable enough to allow it to continue improving slowly. Work hard Hoosiers and we can still salvage a great season. -
For all this pro-Northwestern talk I've been hearing, I have to say I am disappointed. They are not better than IU. Way overrated in my opinion. Maryland taking them to the woodshed in Evanston ---38-16.

Yes---I will say the Iowa/Purdue game was awesome compared to the IU/Nebraska or NW/Maryland game. Those two teams are legit and brought it tonight. Heavyweight battle! Purdue won first half and Iowa won second half. Iowa took the game.
