2017-2018 Basketball Schedule
rebelhoosier848891 replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IU must have something in mind: maybe we add Dayton and Arizona--I am up for that as that is 2 strong challenges that help our strength of schedule. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Tom Crean Press Tour 2017
rebelhoosier848891 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Heard Crean is going to be on ESPN for final 4 analysis. This is right up his alley as he is a good speaker and ambassador for basketball. I still like him and wish him well--it was just time for a change for IU basketball. Glad it's Archie time! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
2017 March Madness Tournament Thread

Wow --did not realize BTown was so politically correct--the above post should be modified to say "And --Gamecocks--not Heels!" Lol Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Collin Hartman returning!
rebelhoosier848891 replied to HoosierHoops1's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Welcome back Collin! He may go down as our longest staying player with the most degrees. Heck--as far as I am concerned let him stay after his playing days as an assistant coach. Great kid. He is working himself to legendary status---won't quit--overcoming injuries--proposal on senior night--bring it on home with banner 6. He is what Indiana basketball is all about. And just think--we would have knocked them out first round in The Hall. Funny--how things work... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Grant appears to be a good hire for Dayton--and Archie appears to be a good hire for us! Win-win. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Last names on jerseys?
rebelhoosier848891 replied to akinnaird24's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No. I am a traditionalist and this is an IU tradition. There is no "I" in "TEAM". Keep it the way it is! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I wish OG was coming back--he was the X factor in my book and we only got to see glimpses of what he could do --barely scratched the surface on his talents. But--I can't fault him if he is projected to go that high in the draft. Man-- if he decided to come back this site would go right to defcon 5--pure meltdown mode! Agree. TB drives me crazy at times --drifting outside too much and falling down or crying for a foul call on virtually every play. But--there is no denying he is a GREAT player and I would love to have him back. I would love to see how different coaching might change him. For all students on campus--every time you walk past TB on campus --just whisper one word--"STAY". Maybe it will catch on and he will complete a loaded team ready for a title run. I loved the Hoosier Sports Live tweet: "So we're getting the band back together?" Epic--yes we are getting the band back together for a national tour with Archie as the conductor. We the fans/ groupies are ready to take the show on the road and would love to call the band "Unfinished Business"! I don't know about my fellow Hoosiers but I am expecting some sweet music! It's all coming true! In all seriousness--love to see Hartman coming back. He is the leader and glue guy we were missing this year. I was willing to give Archie a year or two to build us back up but he is doing it NOW. We realistically could be a top 10 team next season competing for the title. It's going to be fun --let's buckle up Hoosier Nation and enjoy the ride! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Stupidest Miller Take - Crispin on BTN
rebelhoosier848891 replied to ramadden13's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Dear Mr. Crispan: Yes--we do have high expectations at IU and we do not apologize for them. This may be something you are not familiar with from your time at Penn State or riding the pine at UCLA. We gave Coach Crean ample time to develop a consistent winner and he couldn't get it done. It's Archie's turn. At IU as a Coach you are paid to win and compete at the highest level every year--not just some or even most years. We are not Purdue or Penn State and we don't want to become like them. Basketball is like food or oxygen for us--we eat it --we breathe it--we live it. We are proud of our winning tradition and we are making moves to revive it again. Get on board or get out of our way. We are IU and proud of it! Sincerely, Hoosier Nation Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
This thread sums up their mentality. UK fans think their team and fan base are superior to everyone else. They can never acknowledge if they get beat that it was a great game between two good teams and they came up short. Instead--if they lose the other team or the referees or both had to have cheated them. It is sad and pathetic but it is the way they are. Here's to hoping IU gives them lots of reason to whine, pout, and make excuses in the future! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

It's Hoosier linguistics! Syrup is sticky--it's a sticky situation --but OG's pancakes must mean he is hungry--hungry for one more year of Hoosier Hoops before he goes pro! And Hartman's "eye" post means he is "looking" at coming back too. Wow--we have deciphered the secret code! They are all coming back and we will win the championship! Now really--how many other sites pay attention to the small details like we do at BTown Banners?? Too much fun... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Welcome Coach Miller
rebelhoosier848891 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
While in BTown today I read a great article in today's Bloomington Herald Times about Coach Miller from his former NC State Coach Sendek who talked about how hard Archie worked as a 5'9" undersized point guard who was not very athletic but who was fearless and a great competitor. He remembered how Archie not only played but started on good-NCAA teams in the ACC and ended up 3rd in program history in free throw percentage (.846), 6th in 3-point percentage (.429), and 4th in total career 3-pointers (218). Sendek said Archie was only able to achieve his playing success for 3 reasons:1) he was an elite shooter;2) he was a fierce competitor; and 3) he has a high basketball IQ. Sendek said with these traits he was able to overcome some physical limitations to become a successful winning player in the ACC. After reading this article--I understand even better how he can relate to in-state players and how that blue collar work ethic that made him a great player also helps make him a good coach. The more I read-the more I like this hire. Go get'em Archie! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Welcome Coach Miller
rebelhoosier848891 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Great to be back in BTown today for daughter's freshman orientation. Tour guide did a great job explaining why Archie will be successful at IU. He was explaining to some of the out of staters how important IU Basketball is to our state and our identity as Hoosiers. Amen. Lots of positive buzz about Coach Miller on campus making this old timer feel young again. Optimism is in the air and hope has returned for IU basketball! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Welcome Coach Miller
rebelhoosier848891 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I love Archie's Indiana-first recruiting philosophy but he has a lot of other recruiting connections he brings to the table and not just in the Midwest from his Dayton and Ohio State days--but also in the East from his NC State assistant days and in the West from his Arizona assistant days. I can't wait to see who he brings in to help the program as I predict we will continue to recruit nationwide with a special emphasis on Indiana kids. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
