2017 March Madness Tournament Thread
rebelhoosier848891 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Whiner Alert!!! The Never in my life have I heard (and enjoyed) so much whining from UK fans about how they were cheated by the refs. And--after Cal's positive comments came out about Archie they have been a lot more respectful of our new coach. Just sitting back and enjoying the good vibes. Good times down here on the south side of the state! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Welcome Coach Miller
rebelhoosier848891 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have been reading a lot of coaches and talking head's statements about Archie and one that keeps popping up that I love is that he is "BLUE COLLAR". I always liked the toughness and swag that Knight and Sampson brought to the team as coaches. Of course Sampson fell short in other areas and Archie appears to be the total package with that blue collar edge. We could use a lotta blue collar--small town --work ethic in BTown . I think that will go a long way to getting a team to play D and in getting high school coaches back on board because in many ways--Coach Miller is one of us! The last time we had a blue collar, no-nonsense coach with Ohio roots (Knight) --it worked out pretty well. Let's hope it does again! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Archie Miller Recruits
rebelhoosier848891 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I can confirm that it happened under Knight but he did not tolerate it well---I worked for the residence hall association in the Knight era and his punishment was swift and severe for ball players who violated the drug policy. I also know of a player he required to leave the program in part because of it. Some Coaches nowadays may look the other way but I know Knight did not and I would bet Miller will not either. Well done Archie. He gets it. Borrowing and modifying a recent campaign slogan---"I'M WITH HIM"! -

Last comment on presser--some coaches like Crean are more salesman-like in their approach with the media. There's nothing wrong with that. Archie seemed lower-key, genuine and all coach in his comments. This no-nonsense style will be a nice change. Archie wasn't my first or even second choice but I am certainly on board. Excited for the future! Go Hoosiers! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I like that he is open to an IU guy on the coaching staff. Filling his staff and recruiting will be fun to watch now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Great presser! Loved his comments about family, toughness, character, and having to outwork others to get what you want. Loved the 3 levels he discussed--remembering our past--valuing our current players and how they are now his players and he wants them to reach their dreams and get a degree --and finally recruiting inside/out --meaning start with Indiana in-state recruiting before moving further out. I love his in-state priority! I also loved his high expectations for our current players--inside and outside the classroom. Welcome--Archie-- to The Hall and the greatest basketball family in the world. We are ready for Arch Madness--pun intended. We have been waiting for someone to get us all the way back--we are ready for you to take us there! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
rebelhoosier848891 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Ahhhh---I can see it now. Coach K, Ole Roy, Slick Rick, and Cal all standing around their fax machines on national signing day ---waiting for Langford's letter of intent and all four of them saying "Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore Art Thou Romeo"? And ole Romeo just smiles and says "Here I am up in BTown with Coach Miller signing my Letter of Intent and getting ready to kick your cans and lead my Hoosiers to banner number 6!" Well--at least that's how I am imagining it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Gotta go---put on some Hoosier gear and cross the river into U.K. Land for evening entertainment. It is so fun after a loss to listen to all their whining about referees, that Ole Roy is a cheater, and how they have the number one recruiting class and will win it all next year. Heck--if I am lucky they will flip some cars and burn some couches. That will be followed by 7 days of mourning with an uptick in divorce filings between them and their cousins. And you think I am joking. You just can't make this stuff up. Meanwhile, I will just sit back and smile knowing change has come to IU Basketball and that Archie will bring us back to greatness until we are the team that sends the Kats home year in and year out from the tourney. Have a great evening BTown'ers. I know I will! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

There was way too much blue down here in Southern Indiana today and the Wildcat fans are arrogant and cocky. One asked me who our new Coach was and said they had never heard of him. I told them --Oh you will soon enough. Besides Archie's not well known in Kentucky because he is not the CEO of a mobile home manufacturing company or a national dental chain specializing in patients with one tooth. Sorry--couldn't resist. Even though UK and UNC are both cheaters in my book--rooting for the Heels in this one! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Why sip the kool-aid when we can chug it! It's Archie time and he has a great pitch to make for Romeo to be the face of the resurgence of IU Bball. Come play for the cool, young coach instead of the 70 year old Coach K. Go to Duke and be one of many or come to IU and be a legend.....can't hurt to at least make the pitch. Glad to see Crean supporting the IU women's team and that bodes well that he won't be bitter in the future about our program and will be classy. Now--the best win-win scenario would be Crean to take a high assistant job in the NBA so he won't poach any of our players or recruits. It was time for a change but I still wish him well. Yeah---he can join Dakich as a commentator and Dakich can demonstrate how to defend a pick and roll while Crean demonstrates the importance of deflections! Gotta have some humor, right? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I would be fine with an all Carolina championship game with South Carolina upsetting North Carolina. One--it would mean Kentucky got beat today and Two --it would mean the cheaters at UNC don't win either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
