Class of '66 Old Fart

  History is not kind to our football team once the B1G starts and we've got a hobbled QB and our stud RB who probably won't play.  2 consecutive losses and as the late Yogi Berra reportedly said "It's de ja vu all over again!"  I have a very uneasy feeling for Saturday's game.  It's an absolute must win, not just towards the goal of being bowl eligible, but to salvage the entire season.  Should we lose to Rutgers and fall to 4 - 3, I'm afraid the Oaken Bucket game will be the only thing we're looking forward to for the remainder of the season.

There is a strange aura that seems to follow the 'golden boy' from Iowa to New Mexico and now to UCLA!

Suds better be able to go because Mike Miller just tweeted that Zander left the locker room with his arm in a sling.

We better have some fast healers or it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Can you use that kind of language on a public forum?

I've waited hoping for more clarification on Suds and Howard but alas, it's not to be.  Latham's reinstatement is a big plus, but.....   Ninny Lions      28   The 4-2 Hoosiers    17   Afraid of letdown after last week and concerned at how much we can truly expect from Suds and Howard after last week's injuries.

I don't know the ins and outs of recruiting and NCAA regs but I would think it would be immensely helpful to have a former IU / CTC player available to talk to potential recruits when they are on our campus.  Recruiting regs seem to be so picky and maybe some of you can elaborate on what role, if any, Derek may be able to play in interacting with potential recruits.  Can he talk with them at all, and if so, under what conditions?

With Sudfield sidelined, not sure I'm comfortable with all of our QB rushing attempts.

How many previous year's teams would have folded the tent long ago?   Lost our QB and star RB and we're still only down 7.  No matter what happens the rest of the game, this team has shown real heart.

Are there indications that a couple of the commits might be wavering a bit and thus the door is slightly ajar for us to make another run at them?

2018 is an eternity away and I'd be leery of keeping his commitment that long.  And as a coach (which I'm not and never have been) do I want a commitment this early and have to take a scholly off my availability list?  Just thinkin' out loud.

I think CTC and my 9-year old granddaughter have a lot in common.  If she has a dollar in her pocket, it must be spent immediately and available schollys seem to have the same effect on our coach.  I don't know that Gelon is necessarily a bad recruit but the fact he was the first commit and off the radar that really caught us off guard.  Getting a commit from CuJo helps, but we still have a lot of holes to fill on next season's roster.

Don't think we'll take another jump upward this weekend.  I just don't think we've got the horses to stop the likes of O$U, but I would like nothing better than to eat these words Saturday evening.

Certainly a far cry from yesterday's Bears game  --  10 possessions and 10 punts!
