  1. On 12/4 Marion defeated Lawrence North 79 - 70.   Blackmon with 15 points only 3 of 10 from the field; 2 of 7 on 3's; 7 rebounds; 5 assists; -0- steals; 1 turnover.    Next games:  12/11 vs. Richmond; 12/12 at Zionsville
  2. 11/25 against Maconaquah (3A):  18 points on 7 of 15; 1 of 3 on 3's; 6 rebounds; 3 assists; 1 steal; 6 turnovers.   12/1 against North Miami (1A):  29 points on 12 of 19; 5 of 10 on 3's; 5 rebounds; 3 assists; 1 steal; 2 turnovers.   Next game 12/4 against Lawrence North.
  3. Even Kravitz has thrown in the towel:  http://www.wthr.com/clip/12051006/kravitz-last-call-ius-tom-crean
  4. Just saw a stat that in its last 2 games Morehead St., has given up a TOTAL of 92 points - 46 each to St. Louis and to So. Miss.
  5. Anyone who has read Dante's Divine Comedy - a great read by the way, will recall the words above the entrance to Dante's hell, "Abandon hope all ye who enter here."  Once upon a time those would have been words of advice to our Assembly Hall opponent.  If our ship doesn't get righted ASAP, those will be words of advice to the IU faithful.   There have been several clamoring for CTC's immediate ouster which I can't agree with quite just yet.  To me, the question is who do you replace him with?  Typically, a mid-season replacement is an assistant coach who gains the tag of interim head coach.  But, what do you gain other than a different face doing the interviews?  Apparently, the assistants are 110% in lockstep with CTC's coaching philosophy and have been, or surely by now we would have seen some evidence of input from them to change our m.o.
  6. Advice from an old geezer:  keep your day job!!
  7. Or Larry Brown, Jim Boeheim, Roy Williams, Todd Bozeman
  8. Absolutely agree.  There would be any number of schools who would happily hire him based on name recognition alone.  I mean, there are schools who actually hire known NCAA violators; some with multiple NCAA infractions.
  9.   I think the answer is that there are no leaders at all.   Yogi, JBJ and Troy have already checked out of the college game and are getting measured for what they think are their NBA uniforms.  Max and Z aren't native to the IU program so may be hesitant plus they're gone after this season as well; the freshmen still feeling their way.  Process of elimination kind of dumps it on Colin and RoJo.   Someone early on asked where do we go from here.  After what we've seen from the 'Owie in Maui' and 'Debacle in Durham' it's getting close to calling in our resident theologian, Parakeet, and ask him to administer last rites on this season.
  10.   Crean has his supporters but he isn't anywhere close to the godlike status Knight had (and still does with many).  And, I believe CTC's supporters are far fewer in number and would be far less vocal.  Even they can't be pleased with the product we've been seeing on the court for far too long.
  11. Totally off the wall thought, but if for some hard-to-imagine circumstance Bill Self was interested in getting back into the B1G, would/should we hire him?
  12. After Maui and last night, I'm resigning my commission to accept a position in the Salvation Army.  They've promised me I can be the lead tambourine player.
  13. I'm old and my hearing isn't as good as it once was, but did anyone else by chance hear the breaking of a camel's back in the latter stages of the game?  I just can't picture this team making anything productive out of this season or making anything much more than a whimper in any kind of post-season tournament be it B1G, NCAA or NIT.  The product we saw in Maui and again last night is what we have to look forward to for the remainder of this season.   It simply isn't going to get any better under CTC.  It's the same old, same old.
  14. Another 'W' for the ladies as they defeat Ga Tech  69 - 60  led by 22 points from Tyra Buss.  Gassion and Anderson also in double figures and Anderson with 7 rebounds.
  15. End of 3rd and the ladies are hangin' tough leading 47 - 46 on a Buss runner at the horn.
  16. Halftime and the Lady Hoosiers lead 29 - 28.
  17. We ended the season on a positive note; we're going bowling and there's genuine optimism for next season.  This can't be Indiana football can it?  Been a long time coming.
  18. Ah yes, billables.  There's the time spent dictating the letter; the secretarial time for typing the letter and finally the billable time for calling the client to tell him the contents of the letter he/she's going to receive.  Pretty accurate?     I'm a retired banker and I know all about your billable hours.   Been out of the job a long time, is the time spent still billed in 15 min. increments?  Just curious.
  19. To me, the first 5 minutes will tell us what to expect.  If we're moving the ball, hitting open shots and not turning it over, I think we'll give them a heckuva game.  BUT, if we're turnover city, clanking iron and playing matador defense then it will be a looonnnnng night.
  20. From Tuesday night:  Phinisee ended the game with 23 points, eight steals and five assists. He shot 10 of 14 from the field.  McCutcheon defeated Lafayette Central Catholic 114 - 44.  CC was shorthanded because a number of the b-ball squad hadn't met the minimum number of practices requirement because they were playing on CC's state championship football team.   The following is a general interest article about Phinisee:  http://ny2lasports.com/article_one.aspx?articleid=3241
  21. Cousin with an engineering degree from Purdue.  Decided didn't like the profession.  Came to IU for Masters and PhD and is now a department head at Notre Dame.  How's that for covering the Indiana bases!
  22. Numbers are numbers and you can bend them, fold them and shape them into any form you want.  Economists and politicians make a living doing just that all the time.
  23. Also posted in the IU vs. Duke Game thread.\     From Assembly Call - "Cover Your Eyes..." http://assemblycall....ad-under-crean/ Capsule summary of how we've fared as a road team since 2011 and it ain't pretty. Overall road record v top-25 teams: 4-16 Overall road record v top-25 teams outside of 2012-13 season: 0-16 Average margin of defeat in 16 losses: 14.6 points Overall road record against all opponents: 17-33 Overall road record against all opponents outside of 2012-13 season: 10-31 We really have to play to near perfection if we're going to end Duke's home streak and get a W.

  25. The tone of the article is wonderful but I've become such a skeptic that I'll reserve final judgment until after the Duke game.
