  1. Based on the research I've been doing, the legal team representing UNC has been doing a really good job of stalling for as long as possible and in the meantime, the school has racked up legal bills totaling close to $6MM... But supposedly it's a matter of WHEN, not IF the hammer comes down on UNC. The real question will be, how severe will the sanctions be? Some independent investigators say the fraud includes over 100 student athletes and stretched back to the mid to late 90's. If so, UNC is looking at potentially vacating championships and Final Four appearances as well as recruiting, scholarship, and post season implications. At this point it's all a waiting game.
  2. What about Curtis Jones? I think he would be in line for some minutes. Don't see him being the 11th man on this team.
  3. It's crazy how Melo Trimble has fallen out of favor with NBA teams since the end of his freshman year.. I was listening to local sports talk in Baltimore on the way to work this morning and they were absolutely railing on him for leaving. I don't necessarily think another year in College Park would change his draft stock that much, although what's he got to lose at this point? This is a case of a guy who should have left after his freshman season.
  4. I've been lobbying for Guyton.. Has experience, relatively young, first team all American pedigree. He's is a guy who needs to be on this staff.
  5. You're right. He was an assistant in New York BEFORE coaching Providence. Does that change the point I'm making though? These guys were all relative unknowns when they took over their respective programs and had major success.
  6. To put it in perspective, when Florida hired Billy Donovan in 1996, his only head coaching experience was at Marshall for two years, where he didn't make the tournment. He was 31 years old... Rick Pitino was 37 when he took the Kentucky job and he only had mediocre success with smaller programs and as an assistant with the Knicks before that. Similarly, Bob Knight coached Army for 6 seasons where he won some games, but didn't have any kind of major success.. He was hired by Indiana at the age of 31, and we know how that played out. Archie has accomplished more at a "mid-major-ish" program in 6 seasons, than alot of other extremely successful head coaches did before they were hired for their first major gig.
  7. Wouldn't hate on him for leaving but think there are some reasons to stay too. We'll see how all of this plays out.
  8. It's a message board where we talk about college athletes. There will obviously be some NBA talk. I'm not talking directly to the players. Everything here is opinion based.
  9. None of the mock draft's I've seen have him in going in the lottery at this point. Also, he could tear his ACL at practice or in a D-League game. Don't think you make decisions based on the fear of injury. I feel like his stock would only improve by staying.
  10. Not saying I blame him. Just don't see his skill level translating well at the NBA level at this point. You might get guaranteed money for two years if you're OG, but what happens after that? I'd say he's got it pretty good at IU. Why not stay, work on your game, work on getting a degree, show you can evolve as a player, and be a lottery pick in 2018?
  11. A lot of folks claim to have "sources" or "insider" knowledge... I learned that most of that is BS during the Billy Donovan to IU rumor explosion.
  12. Hopefully he's excited about playing in the D-League.
  13. Big news about Hartman. I hope he can be the leader of this team... Now it's going to be up to the other guys on the roster to make the right decision. I honestly don't think anyone is ready for the next level yet based on last season. But I wouldn't be surprised if some players (JBJ, OG, and TB) test the waters.
  14. Aren't there other guys with Indiana High School ties? Damon Bailey? Isn't he an assistant for the Butler women now? Give me anyone but Pritchard.
  15. Maybe bring him in as a volunteer on the weekends? I do not want Tom Pritchard coaching up the forwards for Indiana University or being in any kind of Director role. Not sure where this rumor started but I hope it's quickly squashed.
  16. Soooo bring in a current JV coach to be Indiana's Director of Player Development? No thanks. What connections does he have with Indiana high schools?
  17. Why Pritchard out of all the IU guys who are out there coaching in some capacity? Would much rather have a guy like Guyton back around the program. I think he could teach guys alot more. He actually has legitimate coaching and playing experience.
  18. I'm excited to see what Miller does with his staff. He did mention in his interview with Dakich that he was open to the idea of inculding Indiana guys, but I don't know if Pritchard is the guy.. I wonder if a guy like AJ Guyton would be interested? Loved that him back in the day. He's an assistant in the D-League and has connections in Illinois and very highly regarded in Indiana.
  19. Anyone see Dan Dakich's interview on RTV6 from the other night? He's so passive aggressive and comes across as a huge ******. I get that some people may have wanted an IU guy, but I doubt any kid coming out of high school in 2017 really cares about Steve Alford. The 'Indiana guy' thing is overrated. Might be nice to have a couple on the staff, but I don't think it's the difference between landing a 5 star recruit or not.
  20. Didn't realize this was the Greg Doyel show.. Jesus.
  21. He's got his sales pitch down already and it sounds pretty awesome.
  22. Seems VERY blue collar.. I love that.
  23. Sounds like some of the guys I grew up with in East Baltimore too.
