  1. Whats your deal? 11 nationally televised games on network and premium channels combined.
  2. Haha ok big boss man. You must watch a lot of Dayton basketball to know so much about his coaching. Didn't know those games were televised..
  3. I've followed the guy's career. I've watched a lot of his games. And I've read a lot about him.
  4. In Wojo's case there is. Do some homework on him.
  5. I never said anything about him being great only because he is from the K lineage. That's you putting words in my mouth. But the fact that he was an assistant for 15 years at Duke is something I like. The guy knows X's and O's. He was a 4 year defensive stud at PG and it shows in his coaching style. He is a good motivator. He can recruit. He will get in a guy's face if he isn't hustling or playing defense. I've followed his career. I've watched him for 15 years as an assistant and now I'm his third year as a head coach. Fanbases and publications all around the country rave about him as a coach and a teacher. I guess you're right though.
  6. Business as usual for a power conference team to lose all 5 of its starters and an entire recruiting class? What exactly are you trying to prove here anyway? The dude is an excellent coach. Do some research on him. He's on everyone's list but people on this board for whatever reason. And I think it's because folks are mis-informed on him. He's brought in better players in 3 years than Archie Miller has in 6.
  7. How is it ridiculous to say a team who lost their starting 5 and had no recruiting class to speak of was decimated? Wojo knows the game of basketball. He was a 4 year player at Duke. He was a defensive player of the year his senior year. He knows X's and O's. The comparison is stupid.
  8. How is what you described, along with the fact that the entire recruiting class left, even close to normal? Either way, don't care if you or anyone else agrees. Wojo is on my short list of coaches I would be more than happy to have at IU. He is on everyone's radar except the folks on this board apparently. Didn't think putting him on that list would be so controversial. I'm looking for a young coach with a lot of experience (He's 40 and already has 18 years of coaching experience. 15 of those as an assistant under arguably the greatest coach ever), with playing experience, a knowledge of X's and O's, a defensive mentality, and someone who can bring some IQ back to the Indiana program. He fits that mold.
  9. Fire Crean, I'm on board with that... But I will never root for a loss. Might as well turn over your fan card if you're hoping for L's.
  10. Ummmm.. Buzz walked out the door with the entire starting rotation and his recruiting class. So you can disagree but you'd be wrong. Took Wojo a year to recover. By year two he had 20 wins and landed a 5 star recruit and several 4 stars.
  11. In the A-10...... Miller has NEVER even landed a 4 star recruit that I'm aware of. Not that I don't like him. Just don't think that coaching wise, there is much of a gap, if any. That .553 record includes a complete rebuild of a team playing in a power conference BTW.
  12. Dude played PG for 4 years at Duke. Was a total defensive stud. Has 15 years of coaching experience directly under the most winning coach in Division 1 basketball history. What you describe you want in a coach is exactly who this guy is so I'm not sure who you think is out there that's got a better resume or knows X's and O's better, but ok.
  13. Huh? Are you trying to compare Wojo to Crean? That's ridiculous.
  14. Just don't see what any of those guys have done that is much different than the guy I'm throwing out there. But ok.
  15. Archie Miller would be great. Like him a lot. Although he coaches in the A-10 and hasn't landed any noteworthy recruits that I'm aware of. Still, He, Richman, and Wojo are on my short, realistic list. Talk about being dealt a bad hand.. When Williams left Marquette, the program was in shambles. He took like 4 of the starting 5 and all of his recruits followed. Wojo won 20 games in his second year. He's already landed a 5-star recruit and several 4 star guys as well.. I don't see how you could laugh about Wojo and then throw out Archie Miller.
  16. Wojo has 18 years of coaching experience. He inherited a decimated program then turned around and signed one of the best high school players in the country in Ellington and several four star guys. I really don't know what people expect. Wojo is one of the most desirable young coaches in the country. And has been, even before knocking off the defending national champions. .... In my opinion, this program needs STABILITY. I want a young coach who can grow and be the face of Indiana for decades. There aren't any 40 and under coaches who have won national championships that I'm aware of. I'm not saying Wojo is the guy. I'm just saying that I think he would be a great coach and I would put him on any realistic list of future head coaches.
  17. Who would you realistically want? Just curious. Would rather have an up and comer who can grow with this program for decades to come and bring in fresh ideas and a "cool factor" that kids want to see. It goes back to stability. Look at past national champions. They are almost exclusively programs with tenured coaches.
  18. Another guy who fails to see the big picture... Let me guess, you're a Brad Stevens/Billy Donovan guy too? I'm not saying, he beat Villanova, hire him! I've followed his career. I grew up living in ACC country and hated the guy. But he's a great teacher of the game who played for K for 4 years as a defensive stud and was an assistant for him for 15 freakin years. I put him on par with some of the younger up and coming coaches whose names are being thrown out there.
  19. Are you two serious? Why would Brad Stevens ever leave the Boston Celtics? The most winning organization in the history of professional basketball. Maybe if he was losing a bunch of games and likely to be let go.. But the dude is competing for an Eastern Conference title. Stevens is a total pipe dream. Billy Donovan is in the first year of the post Durant era. He's making $6MM/year.. He's not leaving the Thunder to coach Indiana. Come on guys.... Wojo is a much more realistic option and he's on my list. I'd love to have the guy. You're really downplaying beating the defending national champions? Gimmie a break.
  20. I've followed Wojo since his playing days. My best friend's father coached him in Baltimore during his high school career. He is SMART, was a hard nosed defensive minded player, well respected by his players, and has won some huge games and amassed a pretty nice record in his third year of head coaching. And he's only 40. I don't know how you don't put him on the list of desireables. He's absolutely on mine.
  21. Who said anything about a guarantee? I don't there is such thing in college basketball. Amaker did good things in the Ivy League and Brey is closing in on 500 wins. Coach K is Top 10 all time in terms of coaching tree. Wojo is a damn good coach. People are throwing out Richman and others who haven't proven much. I put Wojo right up there.
  22. Yeah I'm adding Wojo to the list of young coaches I'd like to see at Indiana. Coach K pedigree.
  23. I guess he has the "if we build it, they will come," mentality. I think there is something to that. The new facilities will attract better recruits. Although you have to also have the right personnel in place to coach said players.
  24. IF a change is going to be made, I'd like to see a young up and comer like Will Wade, Dave Richman, or Bryce Drew.. Someone who can grow with this program. I think they are all legit possibilities. Patience and stability are the key. I think this program can get back to being a perennial power, but not until X's and O's coaching and the IQ of these teams improve. It's not going to be an overnight process.
  25. As long as people are willing to accept some growing pains and the potential that there may be some rebuilding and it may take a few years to get to where this team needs to be, I'm all for it. The problem is, I think alot of fans think you bring a new coach in, and we are in the National Championship. There are still some folks who think this is 1987. The last thing this program needs is to bring in a new coach, there are some struggles, then we are calling for the guy's head. I'm not willing to sacrifice the progress that has been made since Sampson.
