Its all rumors.. Just like all the other rumors swirling around out there.
-
Alford has a top 5 team, is coaching the most storied program in college basketball history in terms of championships, and is in LA. I'd gladly welcome him home, but damn, it seems like it would be hard for him to leave right now.
-
I hope you're right... But everything I'm seeing and hearing other than the fact that Crean seems to think he'll be around next season, is a rumor. Some already shot down (IE the "Missouri will be the 'soft-landing' spot for Crean" stuff.)
-
Doubt Alford would abandon ship at this point.. He's coaching a blueblood and has an annuity of "Ball's" coming his way over the next several years. A lot of people saying, "I'd take him," or "___ would be good," but the reality is, it's not easy to pry a good coach from a winning team away from a situation where he knows the obstacles, is getting paid well, and winning games. At IU, you'd be dropping him into an unknown situation with new obstacles, and a bunch of question marks. Can we pay you? Yes. Are the facilities top notch? Yes. But that's not everything to everyone.... I think we all better start facing the fact that Crean is going to be here for at least another season.

Most embarrassing season I can remember...
-
I haven't seen or read anything to make me believe that Doyel is wrong. Everyone talking about Donovan and Stevens coming to IU are doing the same thing Doyel's doing.. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of pissed off Indiana fans come November 2017 when Crean is still on the sidelines.
-
I could ask you the same 'md'iu28. Little suspicious.. not that I'd hate you for it.
-
Not sure why there is so much optimism with Donovan.. The dude is making $6mil a year and coaching one of the best players in the game. Don't see him regressing back to college unless he's forced. It's a pipe dream to think he ends up at IU in my opinion.
-
I'd hesitate to get too pumped about this.. There are nothing but rumors swirling around on IU message boards at this point. Gonna cost a lot of money to match what Donovan is making and unless Crean walks or IU waits until the summer deadline, another large chunk of money to buy him out. And we've all got to hope Donovan is ready to leave the NBA already..
-
I'm not getting my hopes up like I did last time. I have a feeling Crean gets a pass and sticks around for at least another year depending on what he does next season. Would cost the University a lot less money. And Glass seems like he has no balls.
-
I keep seeing Missouri as a potential match. Not sure if it's just a rumor or has some legs.
-
My two cents as far as a dream list are concerned: 1. Stevens 2. Donovan 3. Bennett 4. Few 5. Archie Miller 6. Marshall 7. Collins 8. Wojo 9. Enfield 10. Holtsmann

Glad I fell asleep during halftime.. Would have been another night of getting my blood pressure up and yelling at the TV for no reason.

Anyone see the Tweet from @_TyRogers ? Little off topic but pretty interesting that there is such a large social media following. The 5 most followed college team Twitter accounts 1. @DukeMBB 2. @IndianaMBB 3. @UMichFootball 4. @AlabamaFTBL 5. @ClemsonFB

Interesting article.. Never would have thought Louisville would be #1 on that list. Although I'm guessing these numbers are based on net income for the year in question.
-
You all bring up very valid points.. I guess I need to stop thinking in terms of where this program is today and look at the bigger picture.
-
IF Crean is bought out, and that's a big IF, I would be really interested to see the level of coach who shows interest in IU. This isn't the early 90's anymore. There is that blueblood allure, but is Indiana still considered an "A" level/5 star job? I would say forget Stevens and Donovan, but would guys like Bennett or Jay Wright even be interested? They are with programs who have been in the mix over the last couple seasons. I just don't know how viable Indiana is as a destination anymore. It's painful to see how far we have fallen.
-
It's fun to talk about but I just don't see Glass pulling the trigger.. Might have to wait for next year, which I believe will be another down year based on the mediocre recruiting class.
-
Hard to say there is a clear favorite in the ACC right now. All of those teams have shown weaknesses and the ability to get beat on any given night.
-
I have a reoccurring dream/nightmare where I check the btown banner forums in the morning and see a thread stating "Crean Extended." Glass seems like he has bought into whatever Crean is selling and that is scary.. I keep going back to that interview with Izzo the other night where he literally said he could care less about the fanbase. I hope that's not the mentality here. Seemingly, everyone wants Crean out. We've got to hope that donors and boosters are extremely vocal about not letting this regime continue. The longer we wait to change the tide, the longer we wait for real tournament success. A few weeks ago I was weighing the pros and cons of a buy out.. I've run out of cons. Get rid of the guy! Also, remember this? I was dying laughing with a friend about it last night. What a creep. http://www.espn.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/62041/tom-creans-awkward-twitter-foul-up

Guess there's no harm in trying.. But I would just rather not spend any time getting my hopes up.
-
I hope this is sarcasm. He's in the midst of an Eastern Conference playoff race and coaching the most winning team in professional basketball history. There's no chance in hell he leaves that to coach Indiana. That being said, last night was pitiful and Crean HAS to go. I just don't know if Glass has the balls to pull the trigger. Especially after he just proclaimed this is the new "Golden Age" of Indiana University Athletics.

I'm definitely not your son thankfully, so please don't condescend to me that way. You should watch more basketball then we can try this discussion at a later date.
