  1. Who though? Who is the guy? Alot of people talk about firing Crean but have no follow up to that. I don't see someone being able to come in, make sure guys don't leave the program, and restoring glory days from 20-30 years ago in 2 years.
  2. I wonder how many people wanted Jay Wright gone after 7-8 years with no Final Fours and several VERY good teams. Took him about 16 years to win a National Championship.
  3. Who's the guy who is going to come in and restore the Indiana glory days?
  4. Not saying Crean is the answer.. I just don't know what great coaches with National Championship/Final Four pedigrees is going to leave their program to come to IU and start over.
  5. A program like Indiana NEEDS stability. In order to fire Crean, it would have to be for someone who can come in, take over, and be here for the long haul. Whether there are ups and downs or not. This thread was nowhere to be found at the beginning of the season. Now that IU has had some struggles and the Sweet 16 hangover and win over Kentucky are gone, people want Crean out. Who's to say the next guy doesn't come in and have ups and downs? The "it's Indiana" argument doesn't really work anymore. Been almost 30 years since the last Championship. 15 years since the last Final Four. Most of the teams who win National Championships are teams with coaches who have been around for a good length of time at the same program.
  6. Do I still feel like you don't know nothing? I'm confused as to what that means exactly. I still believe all three are gone. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. But I don't think I will be. The NBA barometer can change on a dime. If Bryant gets hot coming down the stretch, which I think he can, there's no way he comes back to Bloomington.
  7. Been saying this since the beginning of the season. Seems like people are starting to jump on board.
  8. I'll be there! Anyone else?? IU - 82 MD - 78
  9. Good question.. Doesn't Crean pride himself on having the most well conditioned team possible? I've seen the preseason workout videos.. When you're playing in tight games or against Wisconsin at home, when you really need a win, play these guys for 30 minutes. When you have a comfortable lead over Rutgers or Penn State, bring in the subs.
  10. It's seriously crazy.. Mcroberts? He's the token white guy Crean brings in to play mediocre defense at the most inopportune times. Mcsawin? Haven't seen him do anything that leads me to believe he should get any PT. Green? Eh. He's made some plays, but I think his time will come next year. He's sloppy with the ball. Ideally, I'd like to see this: Jones, Blackmon, OG, Davis, Bryant with Morgan, RJ, and Newkirk coming in off the bench in that order to give guys a breather. I want to see what Jones can do with more minutes. Newkirk has made some big plays but has also had some big turnovers and questionable shot selection.
  11. 32 years old.. My first memories are of the Bailey, Cheaney, Henderson, Graham team from 92-93 that lost to Kansas in the Elite 8. I think they lost one or two games all year in the B1G. And I vaguely remember the Final Four run the year before. Those teams were awesome. 2002 was an amazing year as well. I was in my senior year of high school. I was the only kid in the state of Maryland going nuts for Indiana basketball. All that being said, I'm sad that it's come to this.. Talking about 20-25 year old memories. Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc are laughing at us.
  12. My biggest problem with Crean right now is the rotation of players... When you have a guy like Blackmon who can score at a ridiculous rate or an athlete like OG (as long as he isn't turning the ball over), you give these guys 30+ minutes per game. Rotate Davis, Bryant, and Morgan on the blocks. That's fine. Rotate Blackmon, OG, and RJ at the 2/3, and let Jones or Newkirk handle the rock. Find a lineup that works and stick to it! Guess how many minutes AJ Guyton (my favorite IU player) averaged per game for his career? 34. 34 minutes per game. You know why? Because Knight realized he was usually the best player on the floor. I think JBJ could be that. Blackmon and Guyton have very similar stats when you average it out to 40 minutes with the edge to JBJ. Blackmon, believe it or not, is actually less turnover prone than AJ was. So why is he averaging 28mpg so far in 2016? I really don't get it.
  13. It's definitely a pattern.. But how much can you blame things like untimely turnovers, poor ball control, what seems like low IQ plays, and not understanding where defenders are on the head coach? Would starting over with a new regime solve those kind of problems? It seems like at Indiana, its a blame the coach when things are going bad and praise the players when things are going good mentality. I'm just as guilty as anyone of doing this, but that doesn't mean its right. I think it makes for a good conversation.. I mean where was this thread after Indiana beat Kansas or UNC?
  14. I pointed out last night that Crean completely nailed the pregame interview on his radio show and the game went pretty much exactly like he had forecast. Inside out play and outside in play, experience, creativity around the basket for Wisconsin. IU players had to not over-help and get hands in the faces of shooters on defense, etc.. I would love to be a fly on the wall in practice or have the opportunity to give players truth serum and find out what, exactly, about Crean's coaching, doesn't translate to the game. That being said, I still don't understand some of the substitutions. I don't get why our set plays look so unorganized coming out of a time out. I don't understand why Crean plays Mr. Nice Guy and doesn't bench kids for being careless with the ball, making stupid errors, etc. The one thing I will say is that the players last night did not do some of the simple things they should be doing in order to win that game. Too many open shots from the perimeter. Too many careless turnovers. Bryant has to have the slowest post moves I've ever seen, and his defense is atrocious. Davis should start getting starter minutes.
  15. No offense to your friend, but if all Crean went after was 5-star recruits, there would be a roster filled with walk-ons right now. I think that analysis about the old Indiana teams of days past was accurate for those days, but the ability of players of all shapes and sizes has evolved. Every player needs to be able to score, rebound, defend, etc. If your "scorers" are having an off night, you need someone who can fill the void and step up. I don't particularly like Crean, but he has been a solid recruiter if nothing else. Now, what he does with the talent while it's here (with a few exceptions) is anyone's guess.
  16. Said it vs Louisville... Davis is gonna be a stud. His post game is far more polished than Bryant's. Excited to watch his development.
  17. Don't disagree with any of you guys about seeing some of the same issues every year.. It's crazy to see the pre-game comments, then see the team come out and do exactly the opposite of what he was saying. It would mean Crean is a complete failure and basically a total moron with zero idea of how to coach. Either that or the players don't want to play for him?
  18. Just to play devil's advocate (even on myself), here were Crean's comments from his radio show about Wisconsin: "They are the most experienced team in the country and they play like it. They pass the ball quickly and they pass the ball effectively. They have the best interior spacing, they play outside in, inside out." Pretty much exactly what Wisconsin's been doing so far in the first half.. He also made comments about defenders playing with their hands up to avoid uncontested looks and not over-helping. It sounds like he hit the nail on the head with his comments.. how much of the blame goes to players not executing as opposed to coaching? Is this just a low IQ team? It's pretty obvious based on his comments that Crean knew what to expect and I'm guessing, prepared his guys to play against it.. what's the freakin deal with this team?!
  19. That $1MM buy-out number won't look so large if this turns out to be a disappointing season. At least I hope... Incredibly frustrating as a long time die-hard fan to see the same talent laden teams fall trap to Crean and Co.'s asinine coaching. Horrendous ball control and half court offense, lack of sense of urgency on defense, and an in-game rotation of players that looks more like the line for the Salt-N-Pepper Shaker ride at the Maryland (Indiana) State Fair than a Big Ten basketball team. Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe this is a tournament team.. But a first or second round exit isn't going to cut it.
  20. Is there really a chance Glass fires Crean after wins over UNC and Kansas? IU has played ONE conference game, albeit an ugly loss.. I'd say the seat gets hot if Crean misses the tournament or has an early exit. At this point, his job is safe I would think.
  21. Terrible offensive execution in the half court. No shots falling. This team is capable of so much more. Lot of questions to answer after this ****-fest. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. Wins over Kansas and UNC are going to mean something.. not willing to completely write this team off yet.
  23. Being saying it since day one. This team has no clue in a half court game. If 3's aren't falling they're toast. Going to hurt them in the tournament. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. Turnovers have plagued this program in the Crean era. Ball security seems to be an afterthought. That being said, Davis is gonna be a stud. He's got some pretty advanced post moves.
  25. Right.. Kentucky was a buzzsaw. IU had a Final Four team though.
