  1. Sir, thanks for posting this. The back and forth on this kid, given how few people have actually seen him, is fascinating. Really looking forward to this game.
  2. Every time I watch Simmons he’s really good. Every time. The guy needs to pay me like 150k/year to just watch all of his games. He’d be a 15 mil player.
  3. A good turnout of Coaches. Cuonzo Martin was there. Brad Underwood, Travis Ford from SLU, Assts from Oklahoma and Kansas St. I’ve seen Love better offensively, but on 4 viewings, this was pretty typical. He doesn’t shoot it well. Will float for stretches. Average passer. When he decides to attack he can create a lot of contact and either finish or get fouled. He can be a nasty defender. McKinney is a spectacular athlete, but there were maybe 4 occasions where Love absolutely locked him up. He’s got great traits. Just not convinced it adds up yet. I forget sometimes he’s a Jr.
  4. Brutal choice. The Pats for obvious reasons, or Stan Kroenke, who is one of the all time POS’s? Best case scenario for me is that both teams are just unwatchably bad. So far, so good.
  5. Normally, I would agree. But I think we will need this win to be as impressive as possible. Same reason I’ve been watching Marquette and Louisville all year.
  6. Given the circumstances, De’Ron’s was probably my favorite performance of the year. Impossible to have called that. That kid has brass.
  7. Blatantly illegal screen
  8. Yeah, because soft kids make tough shots on the road all the time.
  9. You mean like that?
  10. You mean like that?
  11. That was an incredible sequence by Smith. Hedged and recovered twice and then closes space for the block. Awesome.
  12. What is Bilas talking about? Of course it was a walk. And, btw, when are they going to T up Izzo?
  13. This Den-Hou game has some All Star Game caliber defense. Both teams getting literally whatever they want.
  14. Have only seen Franklin twice on streamed games. Would love to see him live. The kid looks like he’s really on the come and Archie may have stolen him. Thrilled to have him. Saying that, and you’re just relaying a 3rd party opinion, so no disrespect toward you at all, if the man thinks Franklin is remotely comparable to Oden or Gordon, he doesn’t know what he’s looking at.
  15. Just got back from watching Mohammed and Greenwood beat Halfway HS 72-63. Preface this by saying that Halfway Is a dime a dozen small school team and Greenwood without Mohammed is godawful. Played 29 mins. 43 pts 28 rebs(not a mistype) 3 assists 2 blocks 2 steals 1TO. Shot 16-25 from the field, 4-8 from 3, and 7-10 from the line. The counting stats are pretty immaterial. He could have scored as many as he wanted, despite being constantly doubled. Mohammed is a full 6’5”. Probably 190-195. Great length, great body. Physically, he looks a lot like Musa Jallow. His older brother who plays at Missouri St was at the game and he’s built like a tight end. So I imagine he fills out to every bit of 220. Elite athlete. Can really run, really jump and has incredible body control for such a young player. Made a play I can hardly believe I saw. Was going up for a left handed dunk off a drive. A Halfway kid blatantly pushes him as he leaves the ground. Incredibly cheap and dangerous play. As he is in the air he manages to switch the ball from his left hand to his right and as he’s flying out of bounds manages to reach back from behind the backboard and kiss it off glass for an and 1. Then, he just gets up, goes to the line and buries the FT. Had to pick up my jaw at the entire sequence. Great looking jumper. Took a couple of bad 3’s, but was 4-5 on the ones he shot in rhythm. Shot well off both the catch and dribble. Handle is good but a little loose. Better defenders could have gotten into his dribble a few times. Showed the ability to get downhill and finished around the rim with either hand. With the exception of a couple of poor shots, the kid really played within the flow of the game. Involved his teammates as much as he could given their lack of quality and never seemed frustrated by them. Pretty impressive. The 28 boards wasn’t solely superior athleticism. He repeatedly showed a great instinct for the angle of the carom. His defense was fine, but he backed away from some chances to make plays. It’s clear he’s been told not to foul. Really liked his demeanor. Was highly engaged and played hard throughout. It would have been easy for him not to. I love this kid. Love him. He is Victor Oladipo. Maybe not quite as demonstrative, but he’s a super athlete, he’s skilled for a Soph, and he competed hard against guys he didn’t need to. That is a winning player. Seriously, he has Vic written all over him. Spoke to a player’s parent who seemed to know him pretty well. I asked if he was going to play for MoKan or Bradley Beal this summer. He told me that he’s going to play up for Boo Williams U17. Really looking forward to seeing him against real competition. Here’s the deal. If Mohammed is on campus Feb 10, he needs to leave with an offer. I don’t want to hear about Archie doing Archie things and following him and watching him and finally offering a year and a half from now. You offer him and you spend the next 18 months making it happen. This kid will be able to go anywhere. You put Mohammed and Lander with a Senior Rob and you have a backcourt that can win a NC.
  16. Nice timing on posting this. I am driving down tonight to see Mohammed play against, swear to God, Halfway HS. Halfway is 15-3, so hopefully they provide the kid a little competition.
  17. They tag Love as a PG as well. Maybe he plays point during the AAU season, and physically he’s prototypical. But I’ve now seen him 3 times this year, and he plays almost exclusively off the ball. They run him off a lot of down screens and initiate for him on the wing. He then either a) attacks the rim, usually baseline, and he’s a very strong finisher, b) creates a little space for an iffy 3, or c) just reverses the ball. Hasn’t shown me even flashes of a PG mentality. Other than defensively, where he’s a legit badass, I’m not really a fan yet.
  18. I will admit, seeing guys coming off screens, receiving the pass on time and rising in rhythm and shooting a 3 with complete confidence is sort of fun to watch. I vaguely remember what that looks like.
  19. Yup. MSU can’t throw it in the ocean. Looks very familiar. Purdue is also getting a great whistle. Virtually tackling guys coming off screens. Not 1 called. So much for freedom of movement.
  20. I can’t watch until later. Relying on y’all to be highly descriptive.
  21. The article is just generic boilerplate. “Recruit to a specific culture.” “Hard work and grit.” Drivel. Unique amenities? Please. We all love AH as a Mecca. To 17 year olds, it’s a Big 10 arena. I’m not saying he isn’t correct. Kent just provides nothing new or insightful. If that took him more than 5 minutes to write, than it’s because he’s a slow typist. The really interesting part is the comments. 1 commenter writing that Juwan and Romeo are the only players worth a damn. The very next guy says they shouldn’t be playing because they’re just looking at the next level. Nothing but primal screams. We’ll see if Archie’s the guy. But I am 100% confident that the guy has a vision for the program. I’m sure it includes “hard work” and “grit”. Hopefully it also includes, ya know, shooters.
  22. Not sure about that shot. Release looks low and slow. Needs work. Other than that, the rest of his game looks super solid. Seems to be virtually ambidextrous. His left hand drives/finishes/passes look great. Love that. He and Franklin could be really nasty defensively on the perimeter.
  23. Just got done watching it and he was much better than the only other time I’d seen him, which was the New Albany game at Southport last year. Now I really get the appeal. Competed and played with energy. I hadn’t heard or read just how quick the kid is laterally. Very impressive. With his height and length he could be a lockdown defender if he has the mindset. Didn’t shoot it great from 3, but I imagine he can. The stroke is really nice. Definitely excited now. took a really awkward fall, and looked to me like an ACL for sure. Thankfully not.
  24. I don’t remember KC bringing pressure at any point in the 4th or OT. 100% sure they didn’t in the OT. Their d-line wasn’t getting close. Gutless coaching.
  25. Romo is making this sound like the ultimate gunfight. In reality, neither Brady nor Mahomes has been all that good.
