  1. I can't begin to describe how, as a father of two girls and grandfather of four, how disgusted I am from reading this. How can that many young men, football and basketball, be that entitled and disrespectful? What can they possibly be thinking? And finally, why are they not in jail? I usually preface this by "if the allegations are true" but so much has come out that something is seriously wrong in East Lansing.
  2. It's incredible to me how coaches navigate all the ego stroking required by high school kids just to build a basketball team.
  3. I have defended/liked Dakich but, man, he makes it hard sometimes. His criticism for all things IU has worn me out. I'm an old guy and even I realize the "good old days" weren't as good as I remember and the present isn't as bad as I think.
  4. I hope we take the best talent that fits. That said, if it's close, take the in-state kids. It would be cool though to see another Watford with a chance to be part of a potential top-ranked IU team.
  5. Of course I could be wrong, but I think he would rather be here without Langford. He would be option 1 at the position and could be a huge part of next year's team. With Langford, not so much. If Langford comes to IU, I wouldn't blame him for looking elsewhere. I just hope it's not Purdue.
  6. I would think less likely since he is probably looking for a place with great opportunity. Purdue worries me in that regard.
  7. See professional cycling and doping for years!
  8. Something just feels wrong to me if we go down that road. I agree that's the path to compete year in and year out with the top teams in collegiate athletics. But that also seems to be getting further and further away from the purpose of the university. Should we do more to attract the top high school athletes or to attract the top high school scholars? While I can enjoy both, I take more pride in the rankings of the university than I do the basketball or football team.
  9. The thing that Coach Crean got right was the importance of the three point shot in today's game. He missed on defense and half court offense, but the game is not post oriented any more.
  10. Look, i like Langford a lot and I hope he ends up at IU. But I'm an Indy guy and Warren was my team today and I am happy for them.
  11. Very appropriate in what has been a tumultuous year in college basketball.
  12. Can't argue with that either. When Purdue was on their streak, they were fun to watch as well. Absolutely hate what happened to Haas and hope he makes a complete recovery. I just want to see our Hoosiers be the top team in the state again. But, and rightfully so, we are going to have to earn it on the court.
  13. Agreed. The down side being a state school not named IU will be in the sweet sixteen.
  14. I can only say to those looking to hire Coach Crean that he is an outstanding coach and is worth more than his previous coaching position paid him. Get him until contact as soon as possible because he won't be available very long.
  15. I like our chances in that matchup.
  16. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but a line may or may not have been crossed there.
  17. I hope we let Langford concentrate and enjoy the experience without the recruiting circus that has followed him to this point. Chants and things like that aren't necessary at this point, especially during a tournament game.
  18. One of the assistant coaches said that CAM assigns specific roles and responsibilities the his assistants. So, whatever Schilling is doing, it is what Miller wants him to do. I think the one thing that we know about CAM is that he is highly organized and knows exactly what he wants to accomplish.
  19. Physicist Brian Cox once said he often begins his statements with "of course I could be wrong but....". I decided to go with "probably" instead since we have some people here who are pretty confident in their opinions.
  20. I'm hoping that Coach Miller puts enough talent around him that he won't have to do as much as Yogi had to at times.
  21. Coach Miller has a better handle on where we stand than probably any of us. I also trust that he knows where he needs to spend his time. As much as I would like to have Langford, 2019 can be a signature class for Miller and if that's what he believes we need to focus on, that's fine by me.
  22. Completely agree. Money grabs at the expense of the athletes. But, who in charge cares them anyway.
