  1. Need to answer and settle in on D.
  2. I liked both Franklin and Newman and hoped we would get one of them. That CAM flipped Franklin from a near Purdue lock to an IU commit in a weekend speaks volumes about our coach. Franklin might not be the best player we are after, but he may be the most important in terms of what he contributes over multiple seasons.
  3. Losing key players early in the season for IU football is as certain as the leaves turning in the fall. Went from hoping that the running game would be adequate to I don't know what.
  4. That, or considering his recent drop in the rankings he is no longer worthy of a place on the UK basketball team.
  5. Condolences. Never easy to lose family members. I hope you have great memories.
  6. I've got 47 years......but it took two wives to get there!
  7. The pieces to the puzzle of a really good team don't all have to be 5 star kids. In fact one could argue that it would be counterproductive for them to be. We need talent for sure. But we also need kids who will be here for four years and fill a role. I think, and hope, that's what CAM is trying to put together. Continuity is important.
  8. I'm not sure I would call Newman second tier regardless of his "star" rating. He is a foundational multi-year player with a very desirable skill set and good size. Players like Newman equal program consistency over time.
  9. Having traveled that road with daughters and granddaughters, "freshly 17" is all the reason necessary to be stressed. I wish you both all the best.
  10. I know some find the recruiting game interesting, but for me it's exhausting. I'm ready to focus for a while on the team we have and see how they develop. Speculation about what high school kids will do seems a waste of time.
  11. If Franklin has trouble seeing where his playing time comes from, he won't come here. Purdue can promise lots of minutes and possibly even a starting spot. Overcoming that will be a tough sell.
  12. Big 2 guards can work. Bobby Wilkerson from the '75 / '76 team is a good example. His size in the backcourt gave opposing coaches nightmares.
  13. I've really enjoyed these clips as well but we'll have to wait for HH to see the bad AND the good. Still, it's hard not to get excited about what this team could be.
  14. A three man class would be ideal, but I expect four and possibly five by this time next year. I don't want that to happen, but the playing time situation might lead to it. Four and five star kids typically don't want to wait too long to see meaningful minutes.
  15. I can agree with this to a point. It's a hard line to walk between protecting the rights of the accused and trying to achieve justice for the victim. And I know that sometimes an allegation of wrongdoing, without charges ever being filled, is enough to ruin a reputation even if later exonerated.
  16. Getting what we wish for in the 2019 class will undoubtedly come at a cost. The five star kids expect to play immediately whenever they go. The kids currently on the team want/expect to play as well. The scholarship players as this team is being constructed are all going to be good enough to play for high major programs. I don't like transfers, but it seems inevitable considering who we are recruiting. Unfortunately, sometimes this is a hard business.
  17. If they think they have to spend time protecting their turf then that leaves less time to invade ours.
  18. I get all that and I'm not saying Allen isn't the guy. But, when I hired people to work for me, unless I knew I was holding an ace, I looked at what was available. I like Glass and am sure he knows a hell of a lot more than me, but I think a search of some kind was in order even if Coach Allen ended up being the best fit. Purdue, as much as I hate to admit it, made a great hire. Maybe we did too. We'll know in a few years.
  19. Exactly why I was disappointed we didn't have search for our next coach after Wilson. Coach Allen may end up being great, but IU should have at least tested the waters. I like what Purdue is doing in football and hate it at the same time.
  20. I love how this staff has settled in and is identifying targets for future classes. Last year was a scramble and ended up very good. If CAM wants a kid, I want the kid.
  21. Your optimism is refreshing, not to mention that Mike Woodson has always been among my favorite players. Sooo smooth! At this point, I don't think CAM can make the case for IU any clearer. I'm ready to just let this play out and accept the results.
  22. Maybe, depending on if Hardaway can coach or not.
  23. I certainly understand your point and it may be spot on, but I just don't think that aspect is as important as it's made out to be. Admittedly, I'm an old guy so there may be some generational issues with how I view things like this. Maybe in the end, agree to disagree a little bit on this.
  24. After watching the team last year, this all day long!
  25. I get that argument, but I would be shocked if pro teams aren't already aware of these kids and what they can do. I could see that thought process being more valid for kids who are borderline NBA prospects and need somewhere that fits their skill set the best.
