Phinisee was always a good defender, it’s his offense that has been slow and inaccurate. Unless he becomes such a lockdown defender that makes him defensive player of the year, he cannot get a lot of minutes for us. Xavier and Tamar will eat up all the new minutes

(2023) - PG Miro Little to Baylor
MikeRoberts replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I feel like we have had little to no presence in the foreign recruiting scene over the last 10 years or so. It’s not a must to succeed but the talent is catching up elsewhere and it’s good to see us acknowledging that -

Have any other college coaches gone to see him play that we know of? -
That is true but we are projecting to lose 4 starters. That’s hard to do no matter what, especially if one of those is an all-American.

I think so. This is coming from someone that never had us winning more than 20 under Archie. I think we see a brief uptick this year, then a step back the following year. After that is where things will get interesting

I have us winning 23 games with that schedule

A savvy wealthy booster would just buy one and pay each kid $23k to sign it -

Maybe do away with all the theatrics and just run a practice. A lot of us have never seen a Woody led practice -
Xavier Johnson - Commits to IU (PG)

Yeah, I agree. All is good until we go on a 3 game losing streak and he isn’t playing well and gets some criticism on social media… I hope he is mature enough to ignore it -

I do like that if it could be done quickly and not some long drawn out production. For me they need to go bigger for a shorter period of time. They need to be more efficient - use the red steppers between events while they set up for instance so there isn’t down time. I also don’t need to hear moren, woody and Patberg speeches, sorry, just don’t and kids certainly don’t. If you want to have one famous speaker like a Zeke or someone, great, but 4 speeches while nothing else is being done is a waste of time. They at least could have been deconstructing the walk out cave and setting up the basketball hoop but they didn’t, they waited to do that until the speeches were over and then had a dead period where 2 people shot off t-shirts. It’s just coordination and efficiencies that don’t cost anything -

Hoosier Hysteria is for the fans but really for families and each family gets something different out of it. I used to love the scrimmage when I was in middle school but in taking my 4 year old, it didn’t matter that it was canceled as he was spent after being there for almost 2 hours. I can see how many were disappointed it was canceled. for me, they need to find a way to move things along faster. I would love to see the players announced and then move into the scrimmage and then the other stuff but that’s just me. attendance was way down, I was disappointed to see that, I hope that was just a result of the rain or Covid or both but there was maybe only 7k people there, just my guess but that wasn’t what I was used to seeing but then again I haven’t been since the Crean era. -

Some observations: woody, Fife, Zeke and TJD with the loudest fan reactions, no surprise either Duncomb is way taller that 6’9” or Durr isn’t 7’ xavier’s shot is really odd, the release and jumping left Stewart was pretty pedestrian shooting 3’s from the corners but was lights out from straight on. I watched him hit something like 9/10 warming up and then he did something almost as good in the contest lander in the walking boot of doom berger might be a better shooter than anyone on the men’s team -

Driving down from chicago, taking my 4.5 year old son, first time in the hall. Given his age and rain will probably aim to get there at 3:30 -

(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State
MikeRoberts replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It does not, but there are hundreds of posts saying the same thing and mostly by the same people. It comes across that way when the same people repeat the same thing over and over and seemingly refuse to accept even the positive attributes the kid has -

I don’t think anyone thinks he is coming to Iu. What I will say is that he is an Indiana kid that scored an obscene amount of points in high school and some like me will be interested to follow his college career and threads like this help keep some of us updated -

I’ve never understood the negativity around this kid. He is known to be the hardest worker, absolute gym rat, solid passer, shooter… I’ve watched IU fans slobber over other recruits that can’t pass, shoot, dribble but ooze potential. That hasn’t played out well for us.
