Davis should be in the running for player of the year not just in the bigten but nationally. He’s the real deal. murray is good but not same level
-
Are you not envious of their offense? Their motion, creativity, depth? They are leagues better on offense than IU and no 5 minute stretch or one game will change that this season. I hate Purdue but nobody can argue they aren’t well positioned on offense. also, they have worn Wisconsin down, they are about to play walk-ons as all their bigs have 4 fouls with 12 minutes to play.
-
What does Phinisee do better than Leal on offense? Honestly and he’s a sophomore not that that matters
-
He moves the ball, knows where he wants to pass it before it hits his hands - ball moves faster than your feet
-
Regardless of whether he plays the 1-5, he is a liability and 4 years of him being on the court says as much. I don’t mean this like “he as a human” but he as a player is a “loser”. He has played more minutes in indiana losses than anyone on the team over the past 4 years, the worst 4 years in indiana basketball history. We’ve seen what playing him big minutes means. Go back and review his career, it’s been bad, really bad - lots and lots of losses, loses where IU was blown out and scored in the 50s and his inability to lead on offense, make others around him better and make things happen is a huge reason
-
Starting Phinisee means walking the ball up the court at a sloths pace, over dribbling outside the arc without purpose, not being able to get his teammates nor himself to spread the floor, not being a great passer, not being a good 3 point shooter, mid-range shooter nor able to make his layups. it means losing and losing in a slow paced paper cut type death way
-
Since he has ruined the flow of our offense since 2018
-
What makes Phinisee a point guard? Just because that is what is next to his name? He doesn’t do anything that Leal can’t. And Johnson should be playing 30+ so it would be a very limited window where we didn’t have someone on the court that doesn’t have “pg” next to their name
-
PU is way deeper and have parts that compliment each other. Very different than IU
-
No, if you are referring to Phinisee I have 4 years of proof that he is a liability and a motion, spacing, shooting liability. He kills any chance we have of improving
-
Envious watching the motion in Purdue’s offfense. Nothing but screening, cutting, curling, flashing and nobody is holding onto the ball for more than a second or two. our offense is soooo stagnant and boring
-
Johnson, Leal, Bates, Thompson, Jackson-Davis filter in: Stewart, Kopp, Geronimo that should be it unless guys get in foul trouble. 5 guys rotating the 1-3 and 3 guys rotating the 4-5. these hockey line changes have to stop. And need Bates on the court to keep players honest as he can score equally on 3s, mid-range and at the rim. Kopp and Stewart pose zero threat inside the arc so they dont go in there which makes it super easy to guard and super stagnant. Likewise, Thompson and Jackson-Davis pose zero threat away from the basket so they don’t leave the basket which makes it easy to guard and super stagnant. when a defense knows without a doubt that 4 out of the 5 players on offense won’t leave an area it’s cake. Johnson and Bates offer different dimensions that needs to be leveraged

Apathy takes on many stages. For me, I still watch games, I still come on here to chat/read etc but I stopped traveling to away games. I live in chicago and would go to northwestern, Michigan, Michigan state, Wisconsin etc and be excited to go and wear my candy striped pants proud. I don’t do that anymore and it started with the end of the crean era and it will take winning commitment from the players and coaches for that to change. What that has also meant is that my two sons that would have been going with me, are not so I am mot raising that same level of fandom in my kids that I grew up with. If they don’t turn it around my kids may not care at all and it’s dead for us, a tradition that started with my grandparents, parents, me would end. That’s what is at stake in the bigger picture for me and my family and I imagine many more across the country. It’s dying a slow death
-
As long as Phinisee is playing we will never be good. He is a ball dominate guard that kills the speed and flow of the offense. He has done it for 4 years and it isn’t changing now. X needs to play every minute and then play a shooting guard like Leal as the primary ball handler.
-
I don’t see that being the case here at all. Seems pretty civil and normal. we’re losing games to anyone with a pulse right now - racked up a bunch of wins against the little sisters of the poor. it’s normal to question if we are on any track that will lead us to something good
-
I agree with that. The unfortunate part is that they continue to face adversity against average teams and flounder. if these were top 10 teams we were losing close games to that would give me more hope they can get over the hump. Fact is the hump for this team is midling teams
-
It really wasn’t though… I didn’t see much fight or emotion from IU. They rolled over and took it

Parker Stewart not hunting his shot, jogging around and Phinisee continue to dribble the air out of the ball and miss shots the other team is begging for him to take us a recipe for awful offense. -

Crazy we only played them 5 times in 4 years including the bigten tourney. I thought PSU was the one team Archie was undefeated against -

Calbert by a landslide. Born in 82, interested in 87, hooked in 89 and die hard since 92 -
(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

Shouldn’t he be in the best shape of anyone? He could be running miles/sprints/stairs until he drops each day with no regard for needing to be fresh for a game. That’s 6 weeks of potential cardio/fitness related activity -

can we hope for a Henry Rowengartner situation here? -
“Hopefully” it will be fun to watch

I agree, I think if Lander was a 3* like he has played like, nobody would be pining for him to get more minutes. That high school ranking is pointless now
