2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection
MikeRoberts replied to Five Prime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think some on here have exact numbers they could share but it is like anything else - the best make the most and the most by a wide margin. Race is good but not all-america good, he won’t compete for the top dollar like TJD and even TJD likely won’t make doctor money -

Like what kind of numbers are you talking about on both sides? Race could make doctor type money playing overseas. Is that your expectation that our boosters give him here? Is it possible? Sure but very unlikely -
2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

I imagine Thompson will be back, he has his covid year right? yes, I imagine, should TJD leave, we will have to play small as we don’t currently have anyone coming in to replace his size, experience, skill -
I gave much more context earlier but I would say my fandom is at maybe 50% of where it was but could easily return back to fanatic level. as someone just posted, to me, I want the players and coaches to care more than me. It’s been maybe 6 years since I’ve believed that to be the case. This season has the potential to change that. I want to see effort and fight every game. These last 2 games have been mostly that.

IUBB vs Minnesota - 1/09/22 @ Noon on BTN

Hoping we are not ranked tomorrow, would love to keep the underdog/chip on the shoulder mindset as they head out to play two big road games. -

Expecting a big game from Parker Stewart. The pressure is on for him to prove he can be that assassin he is out there to be -
I don’t disagree with much of your analysis. Much of my points and beef is with Phin’s offense. Holds onto the ball too long, not overly creative, doesn’t move well off the ball and takes way too many shots for someone that shoots as poorly as he does. I watch him on defense even more. He does do some nice things on the defensive end but I think he gets even way to much credit there. He is one of our better defenders but people talk about his defense like he is Scottie Pippen or even all bigten level which he isn’t and not even on that tier. He may have recovered to get the tie up but the whole play happened because he got beat off the dribble and the offensive player didn’t finish the play, not because he did something great like many on here would like us to believe.

Love is love:) I have made it clear in other threads - I like this staff and think they have the ability to do good things here. As others have said, that doesn’t mean they don’t make mistakes nor that there are things to improve on. for me, the lack of plays run for Parker Stewart and, or his lack of effort to get open is a problem. His value is his shooting. In the same vein, Phinisee can do good things but shooting is rarely rarely one of them, yet he continues to put up shots… why? He finds himself open for a reason. If you are always open, there is a reason for that, other teams are begging him to shoot, it’s usually as good as a turnover. know your role and play that role. Offensively Phinisee doesn’t offer much and when he’s shooting he is a detriment

What does that mean “playing SG on offense”? What value is a shooting guard that can’t shoot? Not even a little, but still chucks it like he is our go to player. some of the love for Phin is ludicrous, and doesn’t address facts. He is likely our worst shooter on the team, including those that get zero playing time. He even gets applauded by some on lazy effort plays like I posted above.

This is the play people keep talking about as an example of Phin doing good things despite his 1-6 shooting and 0 assists. He got absolutely blown by 1x1 at the top of the arc, didn’t recover and forced Geronimo to come over and save him - causing a bad pass that landed halfway between Liddell and Phin who finally got back

Last night was the first game I’ve watched all season where I was excited, it felt nice!

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU
MikeRoberts replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Galloway was the missing piece tonight. Don’t stop -
Not our best players but ones that compliment each other the best. Johnson, Leal, Galloway, Kopp, Jackson-Davis. - primary ball handler - 2 slashers - 3 outside shooters - 1 in 4 out - 2 that move well off the ball - room for TJD to work and slashers to get to the basket

Which poster in particular?

Is separating TJD and Thompson an option? Have them overlap a little but play a smaller lineup? That 2 bigs that can’t shoot hasn’t been a successful formula for us for the past 3 years. I get that they are likely our two best players but it might open things up a ton more. They could both still play 28 minutes a game, just much of it would be not together
