Is this a game of Semantics? So did IU not reach out to him or did “Scott Dolson” not reach out? -

I don’t think there is any secret... we don’t have a coach yet and are reaching out trying to gage interest -

That’s like saying because IU football has been better than than Texas recently that we are on par with them in football. We are not -

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
MikeRoberts replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He might be awkward as hell but he isn’t dumb. Why would he tell anyone to scram if they keep coming back with more money each time? if nothing else, it reminds the Celtics that he is still a hot commodity worth keeping and maybe giving a raise to. and maybe, IF things fall off a cliff in Boston and the money is stupid, he has a nice soft landing -

I cringe too but if Muss can produce Crean like results on the good side and minimize the downside he will be just fine. -

Yep! Would he have done well here... probably, but he burned that bridge for me. I think he meant to say nice things about IU but is so awkward that he did that but also shat on us at the same time and has continued to make a mockery of the situation. If Dolson is still wasting time here I implore him to stop. there are coaches that would give anything to coach at IU and I want one of those -

I think we dodged a bullet with Stevens and think we can do better. There are probably a handful of guys that could come in on day one and make us better never been a fan of self proclaimed massholes -

I don’t. We don’t even know that they care as much as you. It was 10 years ago. I would also say that it hasn’t hurt him. He has recruited well and developed his players well. One AAU program shouldn’t impact a hire nor one coaches success. Archie tried to only recruit Indiana kids and it didn’t pan out for him. Recruiting is and should be a global business. Coaches that have proven to be able to pull kids from all over, Canada, Germany, California, Texas, Jamaica etc are the ones finding consistent success -

It was an assistant, not Drew. Also, are the same people running that AAU program? All of those kids and parents are gone. He seems to have recruited quite well since then, hasn’t seemed to hurt one bit. I would take his recruiting and coaching any day -

That’s not what I was discussing with you. I don’t think it will be either. It won’t be a lot of the coaches we are discussing, may be none of them -

It’s common knowledge that Dolson doesn’t like Drew? I don’t think that is the case. As I’ve said before, it was IU that was doing goofy things at that time, more so than Baylor and our squeaky clean administration didn’t do anything to Crean and Adidas. That movement class was sketch at best. Imagine Baylor doing dirty things to get Perea to come to Baylor and yet he came to IU, that should tell you all you need to know -

I don’t know that any of what you wrote is true either. Nobody has publically reported that Matta accepted and then backed out. and there is no way to know that Dolson doesn’t like Drew, that is a wild assertion. If that were true and it had anything to do with Hanner, that is absolutely crazy, it was an assistant at Baylor and it was a text and it was 10 years ago. -

there is no public facts that Steven’s ever entertained IU at all. In fact, he has gone on to make this kind of a joke, like there was never any shred of truth to the rumors at all. and then we have bloggers stating we offered Matta, he accepted But failed a health test and Indiana who has been mum, reaches out to refute all that. then we have goodman saying Drew, an Indiana native and one of the hottest coaches in p5 would be interested but IU has not reached out this has been strange to say the least -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)

Scott Drew is our best hire we can make What he has built in Waco is nothing short of amazing -

I agree, underwhelming on the surface, but so was Underwood, Howard, Holtmann... none were rockstar hires and we don’t need to either. we need to stop wishing and hoping and just make it work. There are a lot of coaches that could get us back in the tourney regularly and I think sadly, that is the new benchmark for us -

I don’t think that is true at all. There are some coaches that have built in enthusiasm like a Steven’s but IU fans have filled the hall for every coach on day one and Woodson would be no different. I think he would have a short rope though, needing to show progress right away to every jerk from saying i told you so 3 games in. woodson could do well, needs a great recruiting staff -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)
MikeRoberts replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What makes him not a good guy! let’s not act like IU has been squeaky clean over the years. We had Sampson and his issues, the alike that was Vonleh and Bryant and similar slime with Romeo. you also have to wonder, if Baylor was dirty and couldn’t land Perea, what were we doing? I just think IU has been shitty about breaking the rules. If you are going to do it, really do it
