  1. The next best firing to help our program. Maybe TV Teddy can reunite this season with our first best reason.
  2. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes. With KB also or any other 5 star out of the Hoosier state. Indiana basketball hasn’t looked this appealing in 20 years and it’s time we get ours.
  3. If there is something there other than hugs and mouth kisses, just lawyer up like everyone else. There’s plenty of schools needing to be investigated before our program who fired him. We went a decade of no final fours or tournament success, so in essence we self imposed in coaching. Unless Sweet 16’s is the new benchmark.
  4. No doubt Knight hated him for this very reason. He brought along Stanley Roberts high school coach in that dirty recruitment. Great story of the General stuffing one of their fans in a garbage can also.
  5. It looks like they are shadowing our recruiting. We need wins on the court this year against the _uckeyes.
  6. Race will be a factor since he has been here a year and they’re friends. Ostrom has good relationships in the area. Arch has been recruiting him since he’s been here. If game day environments are important, you can’t get much better than IU. By landing Romeo and in the final stretch for KB and TDJ, I like our chances as much as anyone. Plus we have a big need for another 6’9” player. What a class Hurt would make with the other 3!
  7. They followed the same blueprint that worked so well when Knight was fired. 1987 was as close to a Rose Bowl since our only one in 69 and they fired Mallory also. Look no further than the leadership at Indiana and the coaching decisions to see why athletics in key sports has been a failure. Myles Brand was a complete joke and now we have an Aussie president that doesn’t even understand American athletics let alone what it would take for football to be competitive. Then take a look at our AD’s. Our latest addition gave Crean an extension and was his biggest cheerleader finally trying to explain his x’s and o’s no other person in the state could. I do like what he has done for facilities but the other forward thinking AD’s in the league forced him to do that. I’m not a conspiracy theorist or paranoid but didn’t the board say they would never have another coach as powerful as Knight? They fired probably the greatest basketball coach to ever live who won’t even come back to campus when others build statues or name new and exciting facilities after them. Those coaches weren’t better look at Dean Smith. Knight owned his @$$ and Dean Smith started the sham majors that basically went unpunished from the organization that runs the show just north of campus. The administration got what they wanted and all us fans and alumni has suffered since. Three decades later and we’re still trying to get our flagship program back to greatness. When and if we do get back to our historical winning ways in basketball, I’m sure they will run Archie off also.
  8. UCLA is still a blueblood with 11 NC’s with their last one almost a decade after ours. Granted, they cheated to win it just like with all of Woodens teams. I could understand the lure of Westwood and many Hoosiers have played there. When IU has been good we haven’t lost any top IN players that I can remember.
  9. I think he’s ours but you can never count Cal out when it comes to last minute recruits. I fell confident in what Arch has done handling the Romeo recruitment as he seems to know how not to put much pressure and go with the recruits flow of the process. With this likely drawing out I even like our chances better. The product on the floor will be considerably better this year and the call of playing for your home school will win out in the end. I would be more than satisfied with a 3 man class along with AF and TDJ.
  10. If this is true then coaching will make the difference. How do you win when you’re deeper than your opponents? Defense. You press, trap, and play at 100% on every possession. Winning time will be in the second half of games where talent is evenly matched otherwise. Just ask the General.
  11. The defense points to the real world and just laughs. The entire sport is a hustle, the NCAA is just a bunch of mall cops. I love this quote and it’s accuracy. The mall cops need to only be in the business of educating these athletes and allow these top players to get paid if they’re worthy. All you need to see is the list of schools involved and see that they’re all still mentioned by most of the current top recruits. Nothing has changed except another Texas school will go down to make it look like the mall cops are doing their jobs. And UNC players will not be educated. Disgusting.
  12. Everyone knows Duke is slimy also and they got Williamson. Wonder what that cost them?
  13. Baylor had initially hoped to avoid any serious punishment from the NCAA, based on North Carolina’s experience with its academic fraud case in 2017. Normally the NCAA punishes universities when infractions are specific to the athletic department or when athletes receive benefits that are not available to the entire student population. This shows the hypocrisy of the NCAA and what a complete joke they are. You knew someone would take UNC’s punishment; usually it would be SMU.
  14. That’s a fair assessment as McRoberts brings a “do anything for the team” approach. How many players that started as walk ons have ever been named a captain in Indiana history? Probably never. I do think it will be hard to keep Hunter off the court though. Many said he couldn’t guard a 2 yet from what I have heard; he checked Romeo very well during the scrimmage. Depending on who we are playing, I think either Smith or Fitzner starts and Hunter replaces McRoberts as the season progresses. The point is Green’s to solidify early but he will be on a very short leash. If he plays erratic like last year, he will lose his starting status also. Arch is in a unique position to be very deep this year and has Durham and RP waiting in the wings. Anderson, Jake, and Race will also get minutes so there’s our rotation. As much as we hear how Moore has improved, I just don’t see him getting minutes ahead of our other bigs. PT will be very hard to come by which should make for a very entertaining and successful year.
  15. Yep, now that he’s long gone after hanging a banner; the NCAA will give him a show cause for impermissible phone calls etc... But they will continue to look the other way on fake classes and degrees at UNC dating all the way back to Dean Smith. Plus, why hand out punishment to all the schools caught on tape colluding with handlers to give players 100K in cash or better? Nothing to see there and certainly nothing to give anything like a show cause penalty all the while undermining the whole reason for student athletes that is their main function. If you’re not playing the game of cheating and lawyering up, you get left behind on championships and non punishments. Just another reason why I hate this corrupt organization and a perfect example why they are no longer needed in big time college athletics. I wish they weren’t located in Indiana anymore. They’re a joke and everyone knows it. Just look at their high level compliance officer balls deep in the agent/players/ coaches/ shoe companies payment schemes. F the NCAA!
  16. Funny reading that a 2 by some definition of people has to have some mad dribbling skills. I don’t remember Gary Harris fitting that profile by a long shot and he turned out to be a pretty decent 2. I’m with Brass on this. I think Damezi and Hunter can both play that position as long as they’re hitting shots.
  17. If he can give us serviceable minutes this year I will be impressed. He has the physical tools so hopefully his court awareness takes a major leap forward. We can definitely use his size. I’m rooting for him.
  18. I believe Arch never felt good about him but went thru the process out of respect to Christian. I think it’s been Penny all along.
  19. Appreciate the response and sounds like Arch learned from big brothers mistakes. Unfortunately, Sean will probably soon get an extension. That’s how the NCAA runs college athletics as long as your winning and making them $.
  20. Looking the other way after the fact when 2 of his players raped a student probably qualifies as well as Sampson type quality people/student athletes like Zach Randolph. Izzo followed the same blueprint as his predecessor and all you need to look at there is upstanding citizen Scotty Skiles and his DUI’s and cocaine possession charge that cost him maybe 2 exhibition games. The lost decade of Crean cost us some quality people though, including Gary Harris. Crean did dabble in rules breaking recruiting him, but he was out of schollies and sastified with the bowel movement studs like Hollowell, Perea, Jurkin and the kid from Broad Ripple. Yogi was the only one of that terrific class who made it til graduation. Izzo showed Crean the way off the court since he certainly didn’t teach him how to coach.
  21. Interesting turn of events. Care to share what happened? Sounds like handlers involved, questionable character, grades, or a combination.
  22. I agree and wish him and his mom the best of luck. We can’t get them all, an I would rather him go to Purdue than another out of state school that poaches our in state talent.
  23. Really stings for Clemson fans to lose one to Barnes. How he left Clemson will not soon be forgotten. But in reality basketball is their fifth favorite sport behind football, spring football, football recruiting, and baseball.
  24. I’m ready for the season to start and as excited about any season since 2011-12. Archie has his recruits, and his players have a year under his coaching. I’m expecting big results and some beat downs like we haven’t seen in a long time.
  25. Congratulations and welcome IU. Hope the staff keeps momentum on the field also.
