  1. "Hey kid welcome to IU! Please try to ignore the sulking Fred Flintstone in the corner. Oh yeah, he is the guy who actually invited you to come.... Hey, check it out! We've got a HUGE flag! Do you like fireworks??"
  2. I do like Tom Allen. Seems well respected by the players as well, which is almost the most important factor here. Can't lose momentum.
  3. Fair. Definitely close though. Indiana has momentum, money, and the right hire may not need to do much to get us to be a real solid program. Add in the fact that you'd get to play against Harbaugh and Urban Meyers in one of the best conferences in CFB... Someone could REALLY make a name for themselves.
  4. Don't agree. I'd argue that he's stricter than your average AD, and much quicker to pull the trigger or label and issue as a zero tolerance violation.
  5. Current open jobs in college football: 1) Oregon 2) Indiana?? Baylor normally at #2, but I wouldn't want to touch that mess. ND seems like it'll open up, which would probably jump to #1. There are some real quality names available right now. We may be able to pull something off here...
  6. Kansas and UNC are two of the teams being chalked up as Final Four teams. We are no gimmick. Doesn't mean we can't improve, but we're beating the other Final Four contenders. Really doesn't matter how we're doing it. And homecourt advantage certainly helps the win, but it's hard to say it accounts for a (edit: nearly. sorry, at work after a double digit hours redeye) double digit win.
  7. Yeah Newkirk has stuff to improve on but he's already a far greater asset than I think any dared to hope for. He has provided solid offensive production, mainly from behind the arc shockingly, and is a MENACE defensively. Berry was completely knocked out of his element by Newkirk. Having the go to guy on defense, a la Oladipo on the 2012-2013 squad, is something we've lacked recently. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. To both/all: even great teams make mistakes in November. Pretty sure Kansas and UNC showed our potential more than IPFW Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. We'll see what the team learned come March. That's all the matters now! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. Hard to say since we haven't faced a team with an impressive post presence. UNC will be a good look into how Crean plans to adjust his strategy, if at all, against bigger teams. Love Davis' agility in the post. He's huge, but really sneaky. Really excited to watch him develop. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. Yeh not a good matchup for him, but honestly, I don't mind it in throw away games like that. He gained plenty of filmed lessons to learn instead of a bogus double double. That said, TB's footwork is not the slickest. Hard for me to imagine him ever really being all that effective driving from the perimeter. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. Seth seems to approve of our recruiting [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  14. Certainly seems like we have the most depth. I'll hold off on really backing this statement until we see how our depth holds up against UL and UNC. If JBJ and TB can have Oladipo and Zeller 2012-2013 type years, I completely agree that this is his best team. Those two were so reliable. Additionally, since I went with the comparison, if between Newkirk/RoJo/CuJo we can have at least freshman Yogi type production/facilitation at the PG spot, there is no doubt that this team is better than the 2012-2013 squad.
  15. That really sucks. That Iowa game was a killer. How is there backup? Does this really help us much?
  16. Darn. App is solid, but the news function isn't great. I had no idea Rabb was out until after the game started.
  17. Damn, decent coverage there, just a really nice pass and catch
  18. In our first game of the season, against a team with serious FInal Four potential, we won. Even more impressive, we beat a team who has two excellent and highly experienced PGs, despite our own lack of security at the PG position. I see plenty of concerns about Newkirk and RoJo. Many have pointed out that Newkirk was playing his first real game in two years. He missed a couple easy layups, but he brings an awesome quickness to our half-court offense. As for RoJo, I pulled this from the Assembly Call email: KU was up by six with 11:10 to play. Bryant hit a free throw, and RoJo went on a personal 7-0 run. IU never trailed by more than two for the rest of the game. Sure, he was rusty, but he was huge in the second half. This team could be special.
